Quid, not much for us to do on the first day. Vote or no, just watch. Im just watching the discussion, not too much I can say so far!

But alas, time to join in the discussions Im afraid. Im curious to know how Insanity effects the game honestly, I may just be blind and not seeing it. Not many seem to be showing, if any at all, any of the more obvious symptoms of insanity. Time will tell in that aspect.

Based on what I read about the cops, if you are insane you will always get a "wrong" answer from Quid, and if you are Naive you will always get an "innocent" answer, but if you are paranoid, you will always get a "guilty" answer.

But in that case, you arn't supposed to know your sanity level. And Quid said that every role has been assigned a sanity role. I'm not quite sure how that works for non-cops.

My guess is that it will primarily affect whatever information roles are in the game. It should work the same way it does for the cops, regardless of what information is being requested. The part I can't figure out is what effect it will have on other roles. Such as the mafia themselves. If one of them is insane, does that mean that he thinks the wrong people are mafia? That would be hilarious.

My proposed solution, which is in the best interest of everyone, is for the psychiatrist to come forwards. Since the mafia doesn't know if the people they're talking to are actually mafia, and not a role specially designed for this game (the mimic: So-and-so believes you are mafia. Play along. You win with the town), then it would nice of them not to kill the psychiatrist.

Once the psychiatrist has announce himself, and I would also recommend getting a feel for the group's feelings towards this before risking yourself, he should go down the list in order and publicly announce each person's sanity. I would say tell each person privately, but that's against the rules, so just tell us here.


Now, simply because I said anything besides "OMGWTFBBQDIE!" I'm going to be seen as scummy. I don't think the psych should do anything immediately. Give it time, let people yell about it for a bit, then announce yourself. I think it would be wise to do it before tonight, and preferably before a runaway bandwagon squishes you to avoid accidental death, but that's just me.

So. Opinions?

Just to clarify for Sarvasti, I've had no experience with anything yet - this is my first game. I was home a lot over the new year, nobody was posting, and I was itching to get into the game. Now this whole psychiatrist business is happening, I might step back and watch before I poke my head out again.

Then again, that's kind of unfair, because everyone knows what the cops' sanity ratings mean. Maybe an insane mafia will kill the wrong guy...

If the shrink came forward, the mafia would butcher him before you can say 'group therapy'.

But they don't know for sure how they're affected either. It would be in their best interests to at least be diagnosed first.

Still only vaguely on-topic (and then, only in the sense that I'm talking at all) but I meant why aren't we sleeping. Not the other way around. I just didn't want to edit the post.

True. I could be the therapist and be trying to keep that information away from people so that I won't be killed off by the mafia early on. And I think we'll have multiple people claiming "X is sane", and I wouldn't disregard the possibility of there being an insane psychiatrist in addition to the real one.

Since I have nothing better to go on (though I do have worse things to go on - I have hunches about a few people that I won't act upon yet), I'm going to Unvote; Vote requiem. This is day 1 and you're already suggesting a claim? And you're an experienced player too? That doesn't make any sense.

I'm going to get prod-happy again soon. I don't want to let this game die.

I dont quite understand why there is call for a revealing of a role, that person shouldnt have to. I'll agree, it does seem a bit scumy for a person to ask that, as if to take the eye of them and to ensure the persons death.
