Pft. -I- wouldn't make an issue of it, Felandi!
I have been informed by a former Achaean that you are a theif in Achaea. I'll point out that theft is NOT looked well upon in Lusternia by the playerbase as a whole, and is banned in every guild that has skills to steal. People who are known thieves aren't accepted in any city/commune, and if they rob someone, are often robbed blind, stuck in a manse somewhere, behind a locked door, fully locked
I had a 'theif' in Achaea as well. Please lecture me too!

thieves ftw!

30,000 ?! Are you sure you didn't write one zero too much?
Soll2006-12-30 11:49:56
30,000 isn't too high, if you've played for so long. Richter and a few others have probably got about a half of that already.

Okay! Other peoples things are not for you, they're for other people! Don't steal, stealing is wrong. Kill! Killing is the way to go. Everyone knows that killing isn't a crime, but taking candy from songbirds is a felony.

.... you're insane.
Anisu2006-12-30 12:39:57
actually if you consider how long achaea is running, 30,000 credits really isn't that much
And it reminds me how I oversponsered Lusternia this year (If I counted right, I spend over 5000 credits this year, although part of them where paid by someone else)

To clarify, 30,000 in under 16 months, and yes, I was a thief, enemied to over 25 organisations on an alt (Elecia.) My main character, (Thalamir) is no longer a thief because he has no stealing skills because he's an honourable knight. I "rp" evil on both chars because it's more fun and raiding rocks.
Aiakon2006-12-30 13:07:15
Well, that's all good. Lusternia doesn't, strictly speaking, have good and evil.. and whichever organisation you join, you'll end up doing a fair amount of raiding (much more in the cities than in the forests). Lusternia is geared(ish) towards conflict.. and there's a lot of it.
On the other side of the coin, we're also (generally speaking) a happy and friendly community of players who all enjoy playing in a decent manner, and -aren't- here to spoil each other's fun. That's not to say that people's fun isn't spoiled.. that's inevitable - but most of us are pretty nice about not being bastards. As a result, we have a fairly relaxed forum and generally a game which is fun to play. Shorlen's concern about thieving might have been a little over-zealous.. but he more or less hit the nail on the head... Lusternia has a different culture and a different feel.. and it would be nice to keep it that way.
Edit: I should state that these comments aren't directed at you, Newplayer.. they're just general observations.

Yrael wasn't a good thief. He also gave back stuff if he stole too much on many occasions due to guilt. He also was, in the end, kicked out of everywhere and pretty much lost everything.

He was a fantastic thief, he robbed everything from multiple Celest shops several times. Also the guy was hilarious, which is why everyone put up with him. And yeah, he gave stuff back if he stole a lot.

Wasn't that just before people knew what eye sigils did? I mean, he never succeeded in stealing from a Seren in the entire time I played, but that was probably after his hey-day.

And welcome, NewPlayer. Arix isn't around so I'll give the usual facts for newbies in his stead.
1. Don't snuggle Arix, unless you like candy.
2. Don't judge people based on what city or commune they are from.
3. Trader Bob is the spawn of Kethuru and you should get your potions from other people.
4. Scholars and pilgrims are a reliable source of income and karma, as are the supplicants, if you choose Celest.
5. Don't poke Arix, unless you're into chocolate.
6. Don't poke Munsia, or refer to her as a cow, unless you have a deathwish, or can run really fast.
7. Arix is a good source of fishcakes, for everything else, find a GOOD cook.
8. Don't bother Arix, unless you are starving, you need booze, you want free candy, or you know a dirty joke, limerick, or haiku that he hasn't heard yet.
9. Trill kick ass. And now they can PREEN
10. Fluffy kittens are evil. Evil, I tells ya.
11. Don't poke Daevos. Unless you can outrun him
12. Buy Verithrax-made clothing, which is valuing by the minute due to his multiple untimely deaths.
13. ???
14. Profit!!
15. There is no number 15.
16. Always remember number 15.

So yeah, I'm a new player, or will be after I gets me some answers to questions I have. I've played achaea for a while and in that time I've had many characters etc. I've bought well over 30,000 credits for my characters and I'm bored! I'm serious about starting Lusternia and here are some things I want to find out and questions I have:
Is there a system such as Larkin's ACP in achaea to fully cure, I don't mind if I have to pay credits as long as it will keep me going until I can make my own.
Maps! I have a really bad memory when it comes to directions etc. Are there any "good" Zmud maps available to buy (or for free) that I can get my hands on. (Used Larkin's in achaea, I love that guy.)
Roleplaying! Achaea's roleplay has been spiralling downwards in the past few years, now it's just plain terrible, which house/guild/race/whatever has the "best" roleplaying opportunities.
Stupid question! What's the "best" race/class for player killing and hunting. Like you have your horkval/monks or grook/magi combinations in achaea, what's the equivalent here?
Starting stuff, (I know this can be gained IC but hey, I haven't made my char yet!) What are all the plants, vials etc that I'll need.
The rest I'm sure I'll learn in game. Thanks beforehand.
-Thalamir/Elecia from Achaea.
I'm giving away my maps currently. If you want them, just PM me your email, and I'll send them over. If you want to donate credits, I won't object.
Xavius2006-12-30 15:54:39
I learned my way around Lusternia by setting the graphical Basin map to my desktop, then staring at the massive layout map for a while. Barring the elemental planes, everything has a very intuitive layout. It's quicker than any client map, trust me.
