Can we have posters to post on city walls, commune trees? Imagine on a wall in Magnagoria a piciture depicting a Merian as evil, and ontop saying that This is the enemy. Or a more solid version of the ads, for example a wall or tree where people can post their ads. Is that possible?

On Murex near the glittering Pool of Stars
A golden light flows outward from a shield shrine of Terentia nearby. This
location is flooded with shallow, crystal clear water. The bright sun shines
down, blanketing you with its life-giving warmth. A statue of Andes stands
here, memorializing his noble spirit. A poster is on the wall, picturing
Magnagoria with the words, "This is the enemy."
You see exits leading southeast, south, and northwest.

Wouldn't use it for ads, but I like the poster idea. Merians are indeed the enemy and it should be known *nod*

Kinda can do this already if your an illusionist.

True... and I don't want someone taking away a niche ability since I already wasted my time learning some of it.

Though I have to admit, I do like the idea of propaganda posters.

What about making it a city/community ability for the ministry of culture?
Jasper2007-01-01 23:22:45
Illusionists can do something similar?

Sure, script can do that. But it requires the environment to be urban, which I am pretty sure none of Serenwilde or Glomdoring is.

sad.gif Go go, commune illusionists!

I doubt they would let you post posters in non urban areas anyways.

You can carve from trees...
Kaenyte2007-01-02 05:11:53
I don't think that they'd do something like that. Why would they defile something they're trying to protect? It'd defeat the pupose of having propaganda in the first place.

Who is protecting the trees? I mean, we carve them, turn them into totems. We chop them down when blackthorn/hornbeam/etc. grow mature. If anything, perhaps using magic to change the pattern of the bark or something, or maybe grow some illuminating moss.

CODE

3038h, 3926m, 3926e, 10p, 14080en , 18508w ex-ab illusions script

Syntax: WEAVE SCRIPT
Using light as a palette, you may write messages on walls for all to see. If in a forest environment, you may be able to blend light with the powers of Nature, to grow a sequence of glowing moss  display your message.

3038h, 3926m, 3926e, 10p, 14080en , 18508w ex-weave script 11 Test

You press your fingertips against the bark of a nearby tree, blending light together with Nature's touch. Sprawling patches of brilliantly illuminated moss begins to quickly grow across the trunk of the tree.

3038h, 3926m, 3926e, 10p, 14080en , 18508w ex-look

A grove of trees.
Blah, blah, blah. Glowing on a nearby tree, a sequence of illuminating moss reads, "Testing. One, two, three."

Sure, they use the trees, but they don't go around and scar them for the sake of a bit of propaganda. The excess is removed to help with the society, but almost every use is justified and practical. Carving into living wood doesn't quite fit under that.

The moss thing sounds about right, though.

With posters comes litter, and with litter comes bugs, bad smells and garbage men that wake you up every Friday morning at 6 AM sad.gif
Tenebrae2007-01-03 10:04:30
How about this? Poster ability, if there were to be one, would be given to the city aids and above. That would be for Magnagoria and Celest. The tree-huggers, in light of the foresting that has already started, would use moss for their posters. Would each poster cost power to create or no?
Kaenyte2007-01-03 13:11:38
If they're there simply for the sake of leaving a message, then no, they probably shouldn't cost power; else everyone just turns to illusionists. However, if the propaganda could give slight benefits to loyal NPCs of the city or commune--along with players, possibly--then the posters should probably cost power.

I guess that kind of goes without saying doh.gif

If the posters were to give some kind of benefit, what would it be not coming from an RP standpoint?

Now your talking, it could be a part of dramatics or infulencing or something like that, you could add in a few trade skills as well book binding making the posters or artistry drawing on them keep going this sounds good now.

Heck, I'd trade a few power for the ability to hang a EAT MY LEGGINGS, SERENHEADS poster from my nest.

For influencing, perhaps they could be put up around villages to prolong their loyalty to whatever organization they're already loyal to. Not by much, but enough to make it noticeable. This is remedied by the other organizations by ripping them down to speed the process up. This might give a reason for people to go into villages (for reasons besides commodities and quests) and either patrol every once in a while to either maintain their control or speed up the coming of a revolt. With that in place, people would actually have to go and maintain their villages as opposed to putting up demenses and then buggering off until the next revolt-thing.

Personally, that sounds okay RP-wise to me, but yell at me if it has a glaring problem. I'm a noob, that's what I'm here for.

Anyway, lets say that posters of various effect are unlockable through the Bookbinding skillset, though people with Dramatics can make more effective ones (because they're so very witty.) The price for this doesn't come from an individual's power, but rather it must come from the city's nexus (I'm probably saying something wrong...) and be infused into a blank poster. That blank is then made into some kind of propaganda by a skilled individual, who goes around a village and puts it up where he feels it'll do the most good.

When they are put up in a city, let's say that low-ranking people in the city get slight regeneration, and guards and players do some slightly increased damage and hit a little faster.

Again, there's probably something blatantly wrong with that which I'm not aware of. Either way, that's rampant thought process #1.

For now, if you're not an illusionist, find one, make it happen, and tell me about it; I'd like to see that.
