This time it is going to be in the Serenguard and I'm wondering about a few things?
I was thinking that as my race I would become a elfen for rp reasons and wondering is that a pretty good race or is there one better
Also I am interested in Pvp and perhaps influencing is a elfen good for that
and for the skills which would be better the totems specialization or hunting
And if one of the totems which is better stag or moon
thanks for the info
Shorlen2007-01-02 07:12:19
Totems is, in general, better than hunting. Hunting/Tracking is only good for large group fights, really. Totems gives you far more utility.
Moon is considered to be better than Stag.

Shorlen answered the skills part, race for me.
Elfen is a good race for the Serenguard, thanks to racial specialisation. Elfen Lord/Lady has really good stats and no disadvantages. As for influencing, you'll be mediocre (lord has a charisma penalty, setting it at standard 12), but you can improve charisma quite easily with Netzach, if you choose Highmagic rather than Lowmagic. There's also the karmic blessing of beauty, but it's unavailable because the seals are gone, and I'm not sure if it will be available ever.
Still, 13 charisma is good enough in my book, and you can't get any higher with other races I consider strong Serenguard (krokani, taurian, orclach, MAYBE igasho and aslaran).

Igasho FTW! (kinda)
Outside of that, the other warrior specialized races (Krokani, Dwarf, Orclach) are all good depending on what weapon specialization you go for.
Loboshigaru are nice if you can get good resistance buffs/armor, as their health regen is insane for bashing.
Aslaran and Faeling are good for speed, but aren't too well complimented by Serenguard skills/specialization.
If you go Human/Elfen, you will find yourself well balanced all around, and start having a much easier time past about level 50.

Elfen Lord. Anyone saying otherwise is really, really talking out of their :censored:.
Why? EL has good strength, good constitution, and superb dexterity, with passable mana and charisma, meaning you're not guardian fodder or unable to influence. Dexterity is frequently overlooked - but trust me, with a good wounding sword, you'll appreciate the racial stat combo.

Dwarves are the new OP race. Didn't you see their updated help file, Jack?
4.14.3 The Dwarf race
Descended from the Elder God Clangorum, the dwarven race originally
called themselves the clangoru, but humans, when they first arrived in
Lusternia, for some reason insisted on referring to the clangoru as
dwarves, which term eventually became accepted in the common vernacular.
Although they look like humans, they are substantively shorter and
stockier, and their hair grows at a rate five times faster than that of
humans. Thus, most male dwarves prefer to grow beards rather than shaving
five times a day. Contrary to rumour, it is rare for a female dwarf to
grow a full beard; however, growing long, silky sideburns which can be
braided is a fairly common practice. They are a robust mountain race with
a rich history, though the dwarven kingdom itself was split during the
Taint Wars.
STATISTICS:
Strength : 15 Dexterity : 10 Constitution: 17
Intelligence: 15 Charisma : 9 Size : 6
ADVANTAGES:
o Have a racial language, Dwarven.
o Have level 3 health regeneration.
o Have level 3 mana regeneration.
o Have level 3 ego regeneration.
o Have a level 1 resistance to cutting damage.
o Have a level 1 resistance to blunt damage.
o Have a level 3 resistance to magical damage.
o Have a level 3 resistance to poison damage.
o Have a level 1 resistance to fire.
o Have a level 1 resistance to cold.
o Have a level 3 resistance to unblockable damage.
o Native Weapon: Dwarf warriors who choose the Axelord specialization
can use two-handed axes more accurately than other races.
o Automatically have access to all Demigod skills, barring Phoenix.
o Are reborn at their Nexus upon death.
DISADVANTAGES:
o They smell.

I bet dwarves would be popular if they had a forging advantage.
Nerra2007-01-08 15:18:50
with axelord changes and Stag, I could see dwarves working. Level 2 equil pentalty but no blanance penalty = who cares? You use an axe!
Edit: Just saying it could work. probably not amazingly but meh. you;d be the only dwarf in the game! Totally make up for it

The axe bonus is minor. Very, very minor, from what I've heard.
Unknown2007-01-08 16:00:53
Dwarves are weak, weak, thrice times weak!
Why? Because not only they have the horrible disadvantage of a level 1 balance penalty (sure, Stag can reduce it to 0... but it can also give a level 1 BONUS to non-penalty races), but their strength is awfully low for a fighter race. 13 STR without buffs is just... laughable. Aslaran have 12, which is even worse, but at least they have that good level 2 balance bonus. The only strong point of the dwarves is their high CON... which is useless anyway, because the enemy either attacks with pure damage (when you surge), or ignore damage altogether (when you don't surge).
Not to mention that an Elfen Lord gets 14 con (only 1 worse), 15 str (2 better AND no penalty). Specialisation bonuses from races are minimal and only work on accuracy of your hits, but it will NOT help you bypass stances and parrying. Also, Axelord is still pretty weak if you ask me.
So, as cool as dwarves are, mechanically they SUCK. Be a dwarf and suck. Same for Tae'dae, non-Glomdoring faeling, or furrikin.

Aren't racial specialisations only 3% more accuracy?

Well, 98% vs 95% isn't really 3% more accurate. It's more like you miss (in theory) half as much.
Rika2007-01-08 18:37:12
Oh, that's what I meant. Like from 100, you hit 3 times more, not you get 3% more hits.

I find bashing as a krokani better than bashing as a human. I assume its because of the accuracy, and not because of the penalty against cutting damage.

I believe it's because of krokanis' naturally high physical stats, which a human can't reach until almost titanhood-class levels, if ever.
Krokani and Taurian are the best non-spec races for warriors, stat-wise. Believe it!

If you are an elfen, you should pick totems. Elfen need a totems spec to become an Elfen Lord. Simple as that.

As a level 80 human they are actually about the same stat wise, which is why I compared them. (atleast for me) Size and int are very different.

Krokani are easy wiccan/guardian/ prey, 99% of the time, and the other 1% is Grom. Taurians are just bland, unless you happen to be fighting a cutting warrior or something that uses similarly as much cutting damage. And let's not forget that they're both fairly large. I still think an Aslaran is better than any form of tank, due to their speed (faeling level with swiftstripes ) and their intelligence, though the negative sip and herb bit could hinder some people.
