Idea: Aethership Add-on
Purpose: Changes command chair room of the aethership into a detatchable 'space pod', so the room can in effect become a one-room aethership, leaving the rest of the manse docked. E.g. The commands would be MODULE LOCK, and then PILOT DETACH to separate the room from the manse.
Reason: To allow personal aetherspace travel and exploration without having to bring your own house with you. Especially useful if your manse is used by other people.
Justifications: More cost effective then buying an entirely new aethership.
Suggested cost: 200,000 gold
Perhaps the artifact could apply to non-aethership manses too, for people who don't want to transform their homes into ships but would still like to be able to access aetherspace.

cute. But Artifacts don't tend to cost gold.

Oops, I don't mean artifacts... one of those manse add-on thingies. I'll change that.

I'd buy one, but one room ships tend to get owned real easily in aetherspace.

Just curious as I don't have a ship and prolly won't for a looooooooooooooooooooooong time, if ever... but does the speed having a ship of only one room not make up for how weak it is?

one room ships are fast enough to outrun any trouble of mobs, Shamarah and many others have one room ships.

You know, escape pods for aetherships would also be good.

This seems abusable as an easy way to get to aetherbubbles and back quickly and easily, without having to worry about your ship truly being damaged, or gathering a crew. It also means that people with huge ships can mitigate the negative side-effects of that by detaching and moving around quickly.
I have heard a lot of people who don't like the idea that aetherships require a full crew to really accomplish much. I have to say, I like them that way. They're not designed for a nice, lonely, relaxing stroll; they're designed for people to get together for a goal.
Also, I'm afraid this would cut down on the motivation to actually build aetherships, especially if it can be attached to non-aethership manses. You could simply get a manse, then attach this artifact, or even attach it to your friend's manse.
I understand the idea of wanting to take of in the manse while still leaving it for other people to use, but I think that part of the idea of them is that there is an opportunity cost - while you're perusing aetherspace, your manse can't be used for anything else. It might not always be incredibly convient for our characters, but I personally (as someone who does not even have a manse, so it doesn't really affect me) like it that way.

I already travel to aetherbubbles to explore and hunt on them. Without the need of a crew. A huge crew would actually hinder exploration of the bubbles. That's why two types of ships are popular: scouts, and warships. Scouts are good for going from bubble to bubble to explore, while the warships are good for attack, aetherhunting.
I think pods would be a good idea, a good way to diversify this already awesome system. I'd suggest have the pod cost 250k (same price as an egg.) And going with the theme of living ships, instead of pods, these could be called larvae.

I second Kharaen's idea.

I think I see whatyour getting at but not really, so lemme see if I can sort it out,
An Aethership Pod when bought would give you a one room aethership that can not be added onto, and it doesn't require manse. You just buy the Pod, and bam, you have a one room really fast aethership.
