The singlemost major problem with orders of inactive gods isn't lack of RP... It's lack of new members! Once the leader goes -poof-, the order's doomed to die like Veonira described -- no Order Head and no chance for a new one equals... well... not very much at all...
Members will leak out with time... I believe in Raezon's order Karrah is highest ranking member, and not even he can induct new members. How many members are left now? How many will be left in a year? It's hopeless.
I think IRE should step in and appoint a new Order Leader to prevent orders from slowly rotting away!
Seriously, being in dieing orders sucks... Revive them!

I just wanted to say I'm very disappointed in how bias the decisions are to allow some groups of players to keep inactive Orders, but then tell another set it is against policy and as a result, we are closing an Order down.
Isune's Order has been inactive for years. In fact, it probably ranks in as the single most in-active Order (as far as having an active god goes). Yet Hajamin's Order was dissolved less than two weeks after the player behind him was fired (which has nothing to do with the group of persons that were in his Order). I asked and begged, and I was told it was against policy to allow players to keep that Order.
So in the end, I think you should be happy you at least have an Order, Doman.

What are you smoking? Hajamin fired and Lisarea moving equal No order. God going inactive = keep order because the god might come back. They are completely different policies

Not quite. There are some inactive orders right now where the god is as likely to come back as Lisaera imo. As much as I hated Hajamin's order being dissolved at that time I have to say now that it was probably for the best, and as I said before Lisaera did something right in dissolving hers herself.
I still believe though that the other orders of inactive gods should be dissolved and give the players a chance to move on with their character. I have heard rumors in the past of such orders where the order channel was used as a simple OOC chat channel, or where those left in the order used order powers and shrines to whatever end they personally wanted to.
Doman2007-01-10 21:06:32
Bias? Yeah, cuz there's no difference between the god dwindling in playing time, and the god being fired, Nice deduction.
I asked for some suggestions, not someone coming in ranting about how they're mad that other people still have orders.

Reiha2007-01-10 21:10:20
"Moving on" wouldn't really fit with some's RP and kind of breaks the immersion (especially if the god is not exactly dead so to speak). Reiha joining Morgfyre's order was OOC motivated - I really don't see her being happy IC about it and it was a bit of a stretch. (Not that there's anything wrong with Morgy, it just kind of tore apart a lot of immersion for me when I made the switch). It was actually satisfying still RPing a loyal follower of Raezon, despite his departure. But Morg's order needed more people so I wanted to help out.
And Doman 'd me.
And Doman 'd me.

First we had Viravain I, then we had Shikari for a little while, and we had two gods, then we only had Shikari and no Viravain, for the longest while. Then Shikari left, and we had nobody, then Viravain came back, then she left again, then she came back, then she died! Then she came back again.
There hasn't been THAT many of me...
Daganev2007-01-10 21:14:39
It all depends on who becomes emph, but Auskelis, Raezon, Shikari, Isune, whomever can all potentially still come back.

Err.. you got that wrong. Fired = god gone for good. 'Dwindling in playing time' != gone for good. But there -are- some gods that weren't fired but are gone. That's what I meant.
Besides I do have an order ( ) so no rant from me.
With the 'moving on' bit I admit I made an assumption. It just isn't very enjoyable for me personally to be in an order of an inactive ( or as good as inactive ). I feel stuck there and that nothing is really going on, but my character is never going to simply reject a patron. So what can I do if that happens? Nothing. Hope that someone dissolves the order or be stuck there. If Hajamin's order hadn't be dissolved I would probably still be there because for my character to just quit it.. wouldn't have made any sense.
The second bit about orders of inactive gods was aimed at how they can be abused and have been in the past. That's why I'm personally very wary of them.
Nothing of what I said was actually meant as a rant or attack, sorry if you took it that way.
Doman2007-01-10 21:21:57
Oh no, shadow, I was directing a little sarcasm at Narsrim. You were polite, and a little input is ok, IMO. I just don't want people coming in here and bringing up that I shouldn't be a little down that my god is gone, cuz I get to keep my order.

Hajamin did come back tho, and turned out to be Morgfyre in disguise
Noola2007-01-10 21:38:53
Well, if Lyreth's Order were dissolved, Noola would still act just the same... and still consider herself as a follower of Lyreth. ICly she just believes he's stepped back from interacting with mortals, but he's obviously still There, so it'd be silly to 'move on' even if she were inclined to - which she isn't.
I do wish that if the player behind a Divine leaves or becomes inactive - but the Divine is still 'alive' that the Admin would make a quick Announce post about it. The Announce posts are OOC anyway, so letting folks know OOCly that this or that Divine will be unavailable for a specified or unspecified amount of time shouldn't be such a big deal. It would allow folks who want to move their characters on to do so without having them wondering for weeks or months 'well, if I just wait a little longer....' and for the ones, like me, who'd push on with roleplaying a follower of the absent God - well, then they'd push on anyway, but at least they wouldn't be wondering too.
I'd rather have some OOC knowledge than OOC uncertanty.

Doman2007-01-11 08:39:56
Well, He may be gone, but not forgotten. Someone actually asked me about something he told the order, about how was giving voices out to birds, and Raven denied him, saying he liked his own voice.
Iridiel2007-01-11 16:46:38
Maybe Estarra doesn't know if somebody is inactive for good, or just taking a break, or on holidays, or busy with exams or hating Lusternia so wouldn't come back even for money or whatever. I guess returning from hospital and seeing an announcement saying "This God isn't played by anybody at the moment" about you could be pretty depressing for certain personalities and Estarra would be hurting their feelings.
Now, I am of the opinion that if somebody is gone for let's say 3 months without a word it's highly improbable that person ever comes back, and it would be nice to know to avoid Divines changing owner in background and the order going WTF you're not my old Patron!!. But I am sure not responsable of saying when somebody is no longer in staff.

Hiriako2007-01-12 00:55:37
Heh, Hiri still considers himself Lisae, despite being one of Charune's sect heads. That's just how it goes. I miss Lisaera, I had fun with her. I'm having fun with things as they are now. Mostly. Charune's order is great though, and that's something I'm definitely enjoying.
Laysus2007-01-12 23:37:05
Laysus still considers himself a Lisae too, to the point where he won't worship any other divine.
