So yeah, Ash is druid again, and I actually plan to stay Blacktalon. Cool history, cool people, cool skills. (And cool opponents. *brandish Shorlen*)
So, anyway, since I am a very graphical guy, I usually sit around and like, imagine Ash doing all kind of things. (Not THAT, you nasty bugger) Anyway, I just don't see Druids and robes really fitting well together. They climb around, they run through the forest, all of that.
So, I'd love Ash to start wearing all kind of crazy leather armour things, but I also don't want to lose my protection against, you know, big swords and clubs coming down on him.
So, I thought, maybe make Stag and Crowform give a natural protection of 55/55, or maybe if the druid wears leather armour, make it so that the animal skin gets imbued by the power of Crow/Hart and suddenly gets harder or something.
So yeah, I write pretty weird, I take all kind of cool meds because I am sick, but I think I got out what I wanted to say. COMMENT!

You're going to guild hop again and we all know it.
Anarias2007-01-09 17:45:31
I've wanted leather armour to be a viable option for druids for ages now. In fact for a long time I wore leather armour anyway. Getting killed in literally one or two swings from a warrior got old though and now I begrudgingly wear robes.
Much hate for the robes and the lack of alternatives.

55/55 is pretty high. A completely average set of greatrobes is about 48/48. Also, the other problem is that this doesn't really have any cost, while all of the other classes have to pump money into the economy to keep themselves protected.
Other than those things, I wouldn't have any problem with it. Maybe if you could buy leather, then have it improved somehow (like batting, except more defense), it would take care of that problem.
Shorlen2007-01-09 17:55:43
55/55 is max stats for greatrobes. Average is 48/48, as was said.
I don't like this idea much though, armor is pretty balanced as is =\\

That's not true. Revan has insanely good greatrobes like now, one stat over sixty, the other one over 55.
As I said, maybe make it so that you have to wear leather armour so that you get that armour bonus.
It's really just...I don't really see robes being very practical for druids and all.

I can honestly see them getting trapped in the twigs and branches.

Perhaps the cost (and stats) on all armors could be evened out to be on par with fullplate and greatrobes and make them each have advantages and disadvantages? Perhaps (I am just throwing out ideas as examples, don't take these too seriously) greatrobes would be able to have two proofs while armor with batting would only be able to have one, but greatrobe armor stats would be below the average of the rest of the armors? Dunno, just woke up and it seems like a good idea to make it reasonable for anyone to wear armor without reducing their combat effectiveness.

Leather armour is 40/40 if its less than that, you should pay more for your leather armour.
Narses2007-01-09 19:18:09
the costs are quite absured though

absured? you've got to be kidding me.
Anarias2007-01-09 19:50:55
Probably means for the batting since its 100 silk. Even then its not all that absurd compared to field/full plate.
Narses2007-01-09 20:17:35
fieldplates provide a hell of alot more defense then robes or armor. I do agree that some of the items require far too much commodities... shields for instance are far too costly. There's place for improvement, but leather armor currently offer less then greatrobes do at a far higher cost.
Shamarah2007-01-09 20:51:59
65 is the cap for a greatrobe stat, not 55.
Daganev2007-01-09 21:03:37
Ok, what price of leather are you talking about?
Vest costs 6 leather
Leggings 4 leather
Bracers 3 leather
skullcap 2 leather
Thats a total of 15 commodities, and its not like each commodity costs 200 gold each either.
Fieldplate however costs about 125 commodities gets you about 80/80.. 85/85 max.
Greatrobes, which cost 90-100 commodities only get up to 65/65
I'd say that leather is dirt cheap.

Thats not being entirely fair since to get optimal stats you'll need more than just one vest, skullcap, etc. Nor does it include the cost of batting.

Thats why I sell a full set of 40/40 armour for 5,000 gold and not 500 gold. Still thats 1/5 of the 25,000 gold price of fieldplate.
Batting doesn't affect armour stats as far as I know. Or does it?

No, just allows for the proofings.
Daganev2007-01-09 22:11:43
So why are we talking about batting? I thought this was just about giving druids the equivalent of 55/55 armour?

You shut your mouth
Warriors are supposed to have better armour... they are friggen warriors with Fullplates made out of friggen metal! They should help them more... Besides, Warriors miss against everything and that should balance their tankiness
silly robes wearers
