Some Interesting Speculation

Back to Common Grounds.

It's called a joke that relies on the juxtaposition to price with the value perceived by 'independent' outside observers of the value of virtual goods, dude.

Like credits.

Inter-realm arena?
Richter2007-01-14 04:46:34
That'd be terrible.
Vix2007-01-14 04:58:23
Bloodroot would own Lusternians.

Inter-realm arena?

If you're ready to shell out for a system for each of the IRE games...

Almost the defenses and maybe even afflictions would have to be recoded to be compatible with the other games' defenses and afflictions. Also, in Imperian, I'm not sure about the others, each individual point of health is worth a good bit more, I think. Or it could be that they don't get the "+300" part of the formula, I can't remember. And I don't think any of the other games have anything like Vitae, though they might, so we'd kind of own them with our "two lives".

They have starburst tattoos.

Oh yeah. Bugger. Oh, also, we have power skills, so they might have an unfair advantage over us in some cases, because they can simply use their mana, and we have to wait for our power to recharge from our reserves.

We can also use Mana draining skills on them while we wait. tongue.gif

Achaea vs. Lusternia, rage and terror would own.

Actually...I think it'd be kind of interesting having like an arena where people from all of the IRE games could come together to fight each other.

They have an equivalent for magi: cataclysm or something.

Of course, but it'd be a coding nightmare, not to mention you could have like four versions of each cure, some of which run on different balances.

Maybe it wouldn't be direct combat, but perhaps a game featuring your overall "meta " avatar. I'm sure games like Freeze tag, Slippers, and CTF might be possible. Sure you couldn't use your game characters but some friendly game vs. game competition in that sense might be interesting.

My whole point regarding replacing things such as IRC and a game-to-game credit exchange is simple. When there are outside entities involved, sometimes it makes sense for the core business to handle it. If there's a market for this type of thing, it makes sense for IRE to develop for it.

(Sometimes you shouldn't mess with the "outside ecology" though, but I don't think that's the case here, since it's not like the old dBase or current iPod ecologies where people were actually making money from the complementary services).

Intergame arenas are a ludicrous idea, at least for combat. Either the curing system is totally broken, or you hit with an uncurable affliction and win. Take mantakaya daggers for instance. Waste of your channels if you can just eat an herb to cure paralysis instantly, but will totally destroy whole groups if you can just retarget and lock since they don't have focus body.
Astraea2007-01-19 17:14:01
Well, at least if Achaea and Lusternia merged, it would unite all of Lusternia in a battle against the heathens. And I'm pretty sure Hashan would pledge servitude to Lusternia, just to have something to do.

I like this idea.

I like a customizable character (description, essentially) to sit around and chat with people, some basic things like games that run periodically, and automatically. A way to transfer credits to your character there, and then have it transfer them to other games. Maybe other basic skills (like debating!) which are essentially minigames, and without all the extra stuff, would be just that.
