If sparkies were a luxury they wouldn't be the balancing factor in a previously nigh-unstoppable instakill.
Sylphas2007-01-17 19:32:34
I believe I said, "If you don't fight, and aren't a seriously hardcore basher." If I didn't, I'll need to edit.
If you fight a lot, of course they're a requirement. I'll take a guess here and say that the majority of the playerbase doesn't fight often enough to make sparkleberries worth the money.

I could go 40 years without a health vial, dosn't mean that health vials are any less vital than sparkleberries though.
Back to the real point though , he can be a mass murdered who eats 1000 sparkleberries everytime he kills someone and sells them for 100 gold each if he wants to, thats fine and not a problem, it still dosnt change the fact that guard is a mechanical imbalance.

then I demand that spores act as mushroom sigils for communes, because its a mechanical imbalance that they cannot destroy sigils.

Except that somebody CAN destroy sigils, and nobody can destroy guard.
Guard also prevents 50% of each Commune from harvesting (bards and warriors), and can't be removed by Nature users once implemented.
Sorry, not the best analogy.
Sylphas2007-01-18 00:20:43
Imbalance is the wrong word to use. It screws cities and communes pretty equally.

Sigils block 100% of the game from teleporting or moving as a soul or being resurgemed and other such things, but can be removed by enchanters
Guard blocks 75% of the game from harvesting, but can't be removed.
Not completely horrible analogy

Sigils block 100% of the game from teleporting or moving as a soul (doesn't stop resurgem-- destroying the corpse does). They can be removed by 25% of the game, at which point, until replaced, teleporting / moving as a soul works again!
Guard blocks 75% of the game from harvesting, and CANNOT be removed. Thus, it does not miraculously "work again" until guard fades. Not even the 25% of the game who can put it up can remove it.
Still a horrible analogy, sorry!

Eye sigils used to stop resurgem. Did that get changed?

You sure? It's never been quoted here on the forums as a thing that stopped it, and wasn't an issue when I was a Seren getting resurgemed.
If it IS stopped by an eye sigil-- hey, I learned something new. But would like verification.
Vix2007-01-18 01:47:02
Only restrictions are that the body still be intact and on the same plane as the coven.
Unknown2007-01-18 01:48:25
Well, back in the day, if your body was on an eye sigil and you were resurgemed, your body would re-appear in the room where your body was with 1 hp. I thought it had been changed to just flat out stop it, but guess it was changed to ignore them completely.
Vix2007-01-18 01:49:12
That was probably a bug. Thank goodness it's fixed then.
Shiri2007-01-18 02:30:24
Yeah, that was a bug...I remember Malicia getting owned by that a few times because whoever ran the coven had triggers to keep rezzing, so she kept dying over in Glom. (This was pre-commune - she got jumped by a load of Mags.)

that's potential 50%. To my knowledge it's preventing about a third in each commune. Though I don't know all the harvesters in Glomdoring, but I know of Xenthos, Pentu, Chandestri with Xenthos being the only non nature herbalist. In Serenwilde I count or have heard of 3 non nature herbalists with the ability to harvest sparkleberries and there are 1..2..3..4..5..6 nature herbalists that I can think of off the top of my head that can do sparkleberries. so really it's only about a third and most of them I've already spoken with before trying this, minus of course any Gloom harvesters

100 - 25 = 75 Looks balanced to me!
Sylphas2007-01-18 06:36:09
I should train up to sparkleberries and nexus and find this out IC, so I can throw a fit. Just for something better to do than sit at Mother in tree form.
Krellan2007-01-18 06:39:56
haha I like seeing you in tree form. I wanted to attack you!
Unknown2007-01-18 06:44:57
Whyyy not make nature guard actually do what it says and block the harvesting of the herb for x ingame days for everyone? How is it guarded if it can still be harvested at all? *shrug*
And you mages need to remove those stupid flood / taint. Hurts the plant population up there more than a person who nature guards one or two spheres (unless those two spheres is all that's left of the sparkle).

Krellan2007-01-18 06:53:11
yep that's true about the taint and flood. I forgot to mention that when someone brought up about sparkleberry on 12 spheres. firstly without me no sparkleberry on capricorn. There's also basically no sparkleberry on Cancer for the flooding reasons. Also there would be no sparkleberry on forren's sphere cause of his demesne which takes out 3 of those 12 spheres. and with the taint and flooding from wildnodes and previously lack of commune participation, taint and flood were everywhere, leaving sparkleberry at all time lows in supply at times.
