I'm going to go ahead and open up this thread and ask for feedback from the playerbase on what each of you thought of the scavenger hunt. All thoughts good and bad welcome. Would you like to see the scavenger hunt as a regular event like Hamster Hunts and Free For Alls?

Is it bad that I read the secondary part of the topic as "Facebook Desired"?

I liked helping people with it. Was interesting. Very fun!

I loved the scavenger hunt, I thought it was a really good way of doing it. Some of the locations were tricky, but I suppose they have to be otherwise they wouldn't be challenging. The only problem I saw with it were that some of the locations were difficult to get to and even if someone knows the land, if they don't have certain skills or someone to take them to a location they can't get there (Scaling up the mountain in the Snow Valley comes to mind.)

I'd love to see more of them in the future! biggrin.gif

Not "regular" per se. I'd like to see the scavenger hunt as something that occurs fairly infrequently, maybe once every month or two. They strike me as much more diverting than hamsterhunts and what-have-you but they also require a greater investment, to think up new riddles and to police any cheating: additionally, if they became very regular, they'd lose some of their charm, at least for me.

Would've participated if:

1. Got home from work sooner.

2. It wasn't free PK.

I basically can't participate in these events because I can't PK worth crap. And yes, I will whine about it on every thread I post!! mad.gif

To be honest, no one was PK'ng each other, everyone was too busy finding the next location.

Aye, the only deaths I saw were to denizens. And two drownings. Also, it was kind of iffy some of the places where the locations were, echoing Shorlen's sentiment in the other thread. Some of those places, if you didn't get their first, you just couldn't get in. Behind in the lava wall in Zoaka for example.
Viravain2007-01-13 22:31:58
Just for reference to the Snow Valley location...you did not need to scale all the way up to complete the clue.
Noola2007-01-13 22:32:40
Who PK'd? I had deathsense on and the only deaths I saw was some drownings and some unfettered spirit killings.

Anyway, I loved it! Even though I'm riddle stupid and only found four! laugh.gif I thought it was a really cool way to do the event. I love my ball and hope I don't lose it anytime soon! laugh.gif

Well...I was still too late from getting home from work. sleep.gif

wub.gif Scavenger hunts!
Having more might make our wooden balls made of crystal be of use. Very well thought out idea using those. I know I enjoyed the laughter from all of it. And I agree it would be fun to have more of them. But as it has been stated not a lot, though hampster hunts don't happen that often either. The challenge was worth the time it takes to invest in them.

To repeat my post from the other thread:

That was AMAZINGLY fun.

I do think though that the clues where the solution was behind a quest gave an unfair advantage to those who came after someone just spent the time solving it tongue.gif Not that it helped anyone win, but it certainly created very obvious bottlenecks that held up people who got the clues in a certain order.
Zalandrus2007-01-13 22:36:02
It was awesome! My only regret is that I started late...people were already rushing about when I logged in, and I spent way too long asking stupidly on ct "Is it too late to start?" Then it took me a while to figure out -how- to start XP

The clues were very good, but I agree with the above, some of them were based too much on luck (the Zoaka one and Shallamurine...I got lucky with Zoaka, since somebody else had taken down the wall earlier...not as much with Shallamurine).

I think everybody had the same set of clues though, just in a different order. While this certainly promotes teamwork, it'd be more exciting if there was a larger pool of hints, and people would get a random 20, so there'd be less "I'm here, teleport to me!"

Other than that, very cool. Kaervas definitely deserved to win, finishing so early.

I'm sure the ball never worked when I tried it without scaling. I would have figured it out much sooner if it had.

And just to add my opinion: that was one of the most fun events I've taken part in for a long time, not because I won but because it just generally ruled. I loved how it was based on locations rather than items so anyone could take part.
Razenth2007-01-13 23:04:00
It also proves having a higher explorer ranking DOES mean something! The Planeswalker took the Nature Seal!
Unknown2007-01-13 23:09:08
I predicted Kaervas would win this one.

It was pretty fun. The randomization prevented people following or mobing each other, and like others said, it wasn't a big PK fest. It was also hard too because some of the clues would have required you reading the history and books. So it was well played.
Kaervas2007-01-13 23:14:29
Funny when you consider the only reason I got Planeswalker in the first place was because I spent about 15 minutes just wandering around randomly when Lusternia first opened. tongue.gif
Exeryte2007-01-13 23:17:46
I particularly liked that some of the clues were based on history more than geography. And once you were able to figure out the general area, the clue led to a -very- specific room location that could be difficult to figure out. Overall, a wonderful event. I would love to participate in more of these in the future, if they happened on rare occasions. thumup.gif
Razenth2007-01-13 23:22:59
And you're STILL the only one!
