I still can't find very good ways to reliably kill people as an aquamancer. Preserve worked once, only because of some bug in Ashteru's curing system.

Without a demesne you need Psionics (either spec.), with a demesne, you just need to have enough affects in your demesne. Deluge+Stillwater means that they'll always take damage (unless they have smooth swimming or tredding in environment), Maelstorm is just plain out damage, and jellies do afflictions and damage. For an Aqua, it's just damage damage damage damage damage.

Dreamweaving is good if you're in a raid or group, but not too good if your solo, and I don't think Runes is for fighting. Psionics though is good in any situation, be it one on one or group combat. Both specs have a one-shot attack, and can do a variety of afflictions.

And as for the Preserve/Toadcurse debate. Yeah, I kinda stand corrected. It's probably better to comapre guardians with wiccans then mages to wiccans. Though I have no idea how 'Absolve' works.

Absolve is a 50% mana instant kill for five power. Meaning if your target is at 50% mana or below you 'starcall absolve' and they are dead. Instantly. No other requirements besides the 50% mana. Provided you have the 5p. I believe it's the best instant kill in the game.
Forren2007-01-17 18:09:42
To kill as an Aquamancer, you actually don't need psionics. However, it greatly helps. Damagekilling is generally what I do, with telekinesis helping. Just make sure to time your meld well and use skills like phantoms and wounds. Ask Forren in game for some advice.

I thought absolve was 8p?
Sylphas2007-01-17 19:27:51
So did I. FIVE?
Shamarah2007-01-17 20:18:32
Absolve is 8. Wrack is 5.
Sylphas2007-01-17 21:22:51
Aha! Glad I asked before I bitched any more.
ferlas2007-01-17 21:25:10
Wrack- 5 power, 50% mana, webbed/bound/etc results in death
Toadcurse 8 power, 50% mana, requires stompings afterwards to result in death
Absolve 8 power, 50% mana results in death
Unknown2007-01-17 21:28:08
So..lower Toadcurse to 6 power and call it good? tongue.gif

Wrack doesn't take power if failed.
I don't know for toadcurse.
Absolve takes 8 power whether you succeed or fail.
Laysus2007-01-18 01:37:44
Toadcurse takes power if it fails
Ixion2007-01-18 03:54:07
MD's aren't the best class.

Stomp is fine.

Are non-warriors actually complaining about luck (toad dodging)? Wow.

Nice cleanup kill Laysus, though next time perhaps you can try the patented kick to death method by a 100% locked person. (Once you had him at 0 mana he was locked 100% so long as you made sure he was paralyzed and throwing sleeps every so often).
Krellan2007-01-18 05:13:17
I want to let my banshee kill someone
Vix2007-01-18 05:27:06
Isn't it impossible to do that unless they're at like 1 health since that's how banshee works now? tongue.gif

Nah, even if they're on 1 it won't drop them lower.
Krellan2007-01-18 06:30:21
damn I guess I should stop trying then, people keep coming in to finish off kills before I can get anyone that low anyways

Toadcurse
8 power
50% mana
requires min of 2 stompings afterwards to result in death
takes power if failed

Absolve
8 power
50% mana
Takes power if Failed
results in death

Absolve is pretty much the best mana based instakill. It's a rare rare occasion when you'll fail a toadcurse or an absolve though just because of contemplation meaning you'll never hit them with it unless they are at lower than half mana.
Krellan2007-01-18 10:11:21
not to mention they have tarot which in a previous thread seemed to be the favorite as best single skillset

Kicking him to death in a choke would probably lose out to his regeneration. I am faeling, after all. tongue.gif

I don't know why people compare a single skill to a single skill. The skillsets available to each class should be taken into consideration as a whole. Is it easier for a wicca to achieve half mana state or a Celestine? Who can achieve a more stable lock? There are many questions that must be asked before deciding off hand on single skills.

Use banshee to get him down to 1, then kick him FTW!
