Oh choke? Hmm, hit with disloyalty anyone? And/or leave. smile.gif if you can't cure their attacks, they can't cure yours, with that reasoning, hit with hadru and he's in big trouble..
Malarious2007-01-19 06:50:28
Disfigure with demon FTW!

Anyway yes Shadowdancers are so much nastier than moondancers by comparison... and remember if they dont insomnia right after pixie.. you can doublewhammy to sleep and strip kafe.. that in itself is an advantage talk to krellan if you need combat help with em though.. I never went into the mechanics beyons what to watch for.

Shadowdancers... choke + succumb + fae + hexes = You have been owned.... Unless you know what to do to counter it... if they sleep you and get kafe off of you.. then succumb.. you can be perma screwed.. you will wake too slow and then try to eat.. and succumb is OP.. dont bother arguing it.. in.. what 7 seconds a person can be toadable.. something like that.. I dont stay in succumb long enough to check. Moondancers have the advantage of targetted aeon... shadowdancers have room aeon.. however succumb MORE than compensates for the room aeon since its initial hit alone is potent and the ticking tends to get oyu even before you can cure...

Shadowdancers >>>>>>>> Moondancers in terms of combat.. only if choke is preset and they are ready for you though.

And yes once the hexes run out and they have to redraw that DOES hurt.. you wanna see something really scary? Mugwump Hexist in choke... ouch.

Note however a Nihilist with hexes cant be as good a combatant as a Tarotist.. then again who would deny tarot? tongue.gif Still checking on astrology.. has possibility HOWEVER without the assurance of aeon you have some issues that can come up.

even without choke SD is better than MD offensively. Everyone already knows that. Succumb definately seems to work faster than 7 seconds. Maybe 7 seconds to completely drain you're mana but you only need half gone, not to mention you'll be using focus mind or body when hexes are thrown. and if you get pookaed to focus spirit, unravel gate, toadcurse pooka is fun.
Shorlen2007-01-19 08:31:58
Succumb is kinda laughable with trans magic.

Magic effects it too much.
Krellan2007-01-19 09:00:17
hrm good thing I've been working on magic lately

doesn't that mean lash gets worse with magic too?

No, thank god. Only succumb.

Are you sure? I thought it was all mana drain. We should test this.

Alright. I'm not sure since you're questioning it and I can't imagine why you would be without at least some reason, but as far as I know succumb is the only one affected (which is purportedly why it's allowed to be utterly devastating at anything below trans.)
Sylphas2007-01-19 12:32:04
Wouldn't the 'dancer just put up CharismaticAura before he dropped Choke?
Malarious2007-01-19 12:56:58
If he has it.. and it also drains mana.. so over time it could get em killed.. its rather easy to wrack in choke once I have you hindered..fae aside.

Because I can hex, clearly. Warriors are hit the hardest by choke, and against a skilled SD the only option is a fast tumble unless you are confident you can pull a slitlock or kill in one more hit (warriors are luck based, comment was made as a joke).

True warriors have to run, but all the other classes have a counter or something they can do in choke to really hurt the caster.

Ya you need trans or at least decent magic, until you do succumb is overpowered. Once you have trans its pretty balanced. Its just like trying to fight a warrior without any combat or resilience.
Shryke2007-01-19 23:14:39
Warriors need to run, but they are also one of the best at countering it, if you know what you're doing it... Think.. Being able to move said SD... >.>
Sylphas2007-01-19 23:31:54
True, mana drain could get them killed, but it also negates a pretty good counter to them. They have the advantage by default since they time the choke or ambush you with it, when they're ready and you're not.
ferlas2007-01-19 23:37:52
Murphy did fairly well in choke, he used to knockdown as soon as you dropped it then try and keep you down with other stuff venoms a few head hits for the stupidity and all.
Hazar2007-01-19 23:42:01
Of course, Moondancers get resurgem, and Shadowdancers don't.

Yay for asymmetry!
Shorlen2007-01-20 00:18:39
Resurgem isn't THAT great when immolate is free.
Shiri2007-01-20 02:25:20
Resurgem IS immolate except that you don't have to go fetch the body, now...and I guess if you had 5 people already together in a coven and knew exactly when the person would die and had a trigger for it, that would work too. Sometimes.

Aesyra and I actually did a bit of testing a little while back on precisely this question. Our results: At 0 lessons into magic, 15 lessons into magic, and 30 lessons into magic, Aesyra's lash did precisely the same amount. I didn't feel like wasting more lessons on it at that point. blush.gif
