I'm a new player myself and my jaw drops in amazement when I see how many caring and knowledgable people this community has. Even though I don't know what I'm doing yet I already feel welcome!

Exactly. It's like achaea forums turned inside out blink.gif I'm going to like it here.

That's one thing about us.. some of us may act like we hate eachother. We will flame and troll eachother into the ground in one thread, but in the next, we will readily be lighthearted with eachother. So, we may act on occasion like we want to rip eachother's throats out, but with only a few exceptions, we really all like eachother more often than not.

Ok since you won't let this topic die i'll ask yet another question. What would be the difference between Viscanti and Faeling both Telekinetic with transed guildskills ? Pros/cons for bashing/pk.

Viscanti - bad

Faeling - good

The viscanti have a sip penalty which hurts, and the faelings have a sip bonus which helps a lot. Also, the faeling charisma is higher, so you will have more ego, which translates to being able to take more hits, since forcefield allows you to use your ego as your health. Viscanti's ability to breathe poisons is handy for some others (nihilists maybe), but it's pretty useless for geomancers since the demesne can do better. Telekinetics isn't really great for PK at all at the moment, but faeling is better than viscanti either way.

The only real thing viscanti have going for them is that you can regenerate health in your own demesne, but that's not quite enough to make up for the differences in their sipping, IMO.

I'd disagree. Faeling are far better for bashing, but for PK (especially if the forcefield nerf hits), forcefield is more of a liability than a bonus. Not that Viscanti is a whole lot better for PK purposes, though, for the reasons you stated above... but IMO it does beat Faeling (barely). That's considerably outstripped by how much better at bashing a faeling with forcefield is, however.

I happen to consider Viscanti to be an absolutely horrid race, but I guess as a geo, you will pretty much always be in the taint for your level 3 health/mana regen.
Sylphas2007-01-23 23:27:20
Level 3 is what, 12% or so, every 10 seconds? I tested this once, wish I still had the data.

Why is forcefield such a large disadvantage? Even if you drop it at half ego, you boosted your health by a great deal.

Dropping it at half ego requires remembering to drop it at half ego... and it is permanently locking up a channel which, for PK, means there are things you just can't do for an offence any more.
Athalas2007-01-23 23:50:35
Level 3 regen is about 7.5%. With mercy you get around 12.5% health regen (I remember this as being almost the exact number from when I was a loboshigaru).
Shorlen2007-01-25 05:19:43
Not only is it permalocking a channel, unlocking it takes a 6 sec balance, the channel is very useful, and ego burnout both makes you lose more experience than dying and means you can't fight effectively for quite a long time.
Sylphas2007-01-25 06:00:34
Oh, exp, psh. Ego burnout means you're still alive and fighting, albeit at reduced capacity, and can still kill them.

I didn't know it took 6 seconds to unlock though, that makes a huge difference.
Dvyrus2007-01-25 06:03:51
The biggest reason to pick Viscanti is for roleplay rather than any benefits from stats they may (or may not) have. If you're a geomancer (or Magnagoran at all) the viscanti are the 'master race', whereas if you're going to be a Magnagoran faeling you may be discriminated against somewhat. While merian and elfen are the traditional hated races in the city, faelings are still dirty dirty half-breed elfen. All this said, you won't be lynched on sight for being a faeling Magnagoran, just offering role considerations besides stats.

You lose eq for 6 seconds when you burnout as well.
Sylphas2007-01-25 06:30:54
Still better than dying. Dying, you lose eq for like 5 goddamn minutes. Well, if you pray at least.sad.gif

One leads to the other often enough.
Genevieve2007-01-25 23:20:48
Burnout then death is a pretty hard hit to experience.
Sylphas2007-01-26 00:58:35
Experience is overrated. I'm never going to bother with Titan, or ever hit 80. Gives me 4 levels to burn before I even start to get annoyed.

Oh come on, you should atleast get level 80... 80 can't be that hard to get.
Genevieve2007-01-26 01:03:47
80 can be hard to get if you're stuck at 79 doing a lot of raid defense whenever you're online. I'm working on 83 myself.
