It worries me a little to see so many people deciding to support someone solely for IC reasons. This is one of those cases to let RP take a back seat, and choose what will be best for the game, then make up an IC reason for your actions. Don't choose someone who will be bad for Lusternia solely because you're in the same organization as them - in cases where RP and the enjoyment of the game are at odds, enjoyment should win.

There are quite a few assumptions in this thread. I wouldn't bank on those assumptions.

I see three reasonably solid choices. It's hard to predict how honest the new god will be in regards to severing player ties. I know some of the choices up there would have a problem doing so, or be unable to altogether. Information has leaked quite a few times, and some portion of involved players had been questioned about it- this is a real threat and something to be considered with care.

The only problem I have is that I see more of these people as Vernal Gods than Ascended Gods.

I disagree. Sure, let OOC shape your IC reasons a little.. but not to the point of RP compromise. In any case, there is no one on that list, except possibly the new Seren, who I don't know about.. who wouldn't make a perfectly decent God. Going with your RP seems a perfectly valid way of doing things.

I like Amarysse quite a bit so far. Before all this seal business I got to spend some time with her talking about the forest, the centaurs, the Gloriana and Raven. She also came along with Jasper and me once when we were working on the Toblerone valley quest. I'm glad she's sticking around.

As much of a shocker as it will be to you all, I do not, in fact, intend on being a god of griefers should I ascend! jawdrop.gif Actually I have some interesting stuff worked out to use if I do ascend that will turn my divine's personality into something entirely different than my mortal.

Hmm, it would be cool if Shamarah wins, because that would eliminate my debt to him (YES, I STILL OWE YOU 10 CREDITS! MUHAHA!).

Ahahah, I did lend you credits way back when you were Cuber, didn't I?

I'm actually hosting a debate if anybody's interested this Thursday night at the World Library, at least to discuss the candidates IC as possible.

I'm trying to de-emphasize the "vernal" thoughts (a god to serve the orgs), rather which person would be the best to fight a Soulless that threatens all...Light, Nature, Wyrd, Taint, and those in-between.
Tzekelkan2007-01-23 00:15:35
Shamarah for Godhood! Although that would leave the Celestines championless. sad.gif
Daganev2007-01-23 00:21:14
I think its time to change my sig.

I am only worried about the people who have so much invested in their ooc friends network.

I think I'll change my vote to the Seren noob smile.gif

To be honest, I'm not worried if whomever screws up and doesn't let go fo their ties as a regular player. The admin have been pretty adament about this role. If you screw up, you're going back down to Mortal player.

Feel kinda bummed that I didn't get it. Oh well, I can still go for Eph.

If this was the third time it happened sure, but since its the first time, any screw up ruins this for everybody.

Professionalism starts with recognizing that everyone is a potential client/business partner. You can't rake the admins over the coals one minute then turn around and expect to be able to play nicey-nicey and all is forgotten the next.

It's like if you want to know what your date is really like, pay attention to how she treats the waiter, and Shorlen's been nothing but rude to him.

If you folks want this experiment to succeed and for there to be future ascension events (so maybe you'll get your own shot someday), support candidates based on how they've always treated the people they didn't stand to gain anything from. Because if whoever ascends abuses his position, I'm wagering this year's event is the first and last of its kind.

Whomever wins, that's a pretty damn safe wager.

Not if people are mature. I'd like to think most of the candidates are mature enough to handle it.

Sarapis once trusted somebody to become a goddess named Eris. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't be here playing this wonderful game right now. I'd love to think of this as a potential way to "pay it forward".

I think Shorlen and Daevos both have the highest levels of maturity, RP integrity, and dedication out of this list to make pretty darn good gods. I don't think either will let their egos get in the way of proper god behaviour either (well, Shorlen won't... I don't know Daevos as well but I'm pretty sure he is the same).

I really hope Amarysse doesn't try to ascend, as lovely and as clever as her player might be. That would be just a little opportunistic and manipulative for my liking. Aside from that one though, I think any of them could do well.

Still, congratulations to all of the nine on winning their challenges! smile.gif

I don't see how that's opportunistic or manipulative...

I hope she doesn't try to ascend because she hasn't had time yet to enjoy a good portion of Lusternia. smile.gif

All the more reason for her to ascend. I see nothing wrong with someone playing some game for years and years, and having plenty of experience dealing with all sorts of people seeing an opportunity to become a god in another game and taking it.
Unknown2007-01-23 01:48:39
Anyone even planning to join the ascended god's order if they ascend? laugh.gif

No, you misunderstood. She hasn't had the chance to enjoy the full extent of playing Lusternia, not necessarily that she does not have enough experience.
