I'd be sad if it just comes down to community vs community. I have a feeling it will be for moot, there could be a restriction the ascended god can't serve the old community--to make sure the "OOC ties are cut" or something.

I'm at least trying to come up with IC ways to consider the big picture--nobody, not even Magnagora, likes the Soulless. I'd love to see people planning strategies like they do in wargames. That is, team up different orgs together to make a "super" combo.

You missed Magnagorans shouting "How can we help you, how can we serve you?!" the first time Kethuru broke free. happy.gif

Yeah, and Viravain-Kethuru smacked them down for that! I doubt they'll make the same mistake this time!

I remember Mell telling me to put away the painting of Kethuru I had once. If something can freak out a Viscanti, you KNOW it's bad!

I dunno, some of them may have forgotten and try again. wink.gif

Gah, so seven egomaniacs (with various states of acceptance or refusal of that fact among them) and two people I don't know enough about unsure.gif , sounds wonderful. doh.gif
Anarias2007-01-24 01:25:19
Egomaniacs aren't inherently bad fish.gif
Gandal2007-01-24 01:27:58
I know exactly who you are talking about, since 7 of them are very well-known. sad.gif
Veonira2007-01-24 02:08:27
All egomaniacs? Nice generalization tongue.gif

Daevos is an egomaniac? He's always struck me as completely the opposite.. even when I was on his bad side, its hard not to like--or at least respect--him.
Shryke2007-01-24 03:30:41
Tully, people just don't like how you automatically try to wedge yourself into EVERY SINGLE event. You either shout like it's all about you, or do for example: that news post. It's really, honestly, incredibly annoying. You're a janitor, not manager of basin affairs. Yet somehow, everything always involves some shouts by you or so on.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't a personal attack or anything, but it gets old. I understand why you want to take part in everything, but you always seem to try to be the 'keystone' of every event.

(just trying to explain the negative responses, even if I agree with them :/)

EDIT: Post SO TOTALLY deleted.

I was wondering how long that was going to take. According to the timestamps it was about 10 minutes.

Anyone who doesn't know my character (and I know that's the majority of you blush.gif ) is more than welcome to approach her in-game, if they so desire. As a player, I don't mind, and she's unlikely to turn anyone away IC.
To address the issue of whether or not I intend (as a player) for Amarysse to at least make the attempt at Ascension:

Yes.
Why?

--If I don't make the attempt, people will rant (as they have already) that I cannot possibly be taking such an honor and responsibility as seriously as they would like, and that it should (again) have gone to someone else.
--If I -do- make the attempt, it will be seen as apparently a manipulative, opportunistic gesture on my part for taking advantage of something I earned by virtue of winning a game-wide contest.

There are other arguments for both paths, I know, but these are the two I've seen mentioned most frequently of late, and I know that not everyone thinks in such negative terms.

However, since I "lose" in either case, and I cannot force people to change their feelings, I must act on my own. I would be completely ashamed of myself if I didn't put in the time and effort to at least make a go of it, however infinitesimally slim the chances of my success may be, and Amarysse IC could not conceive of so dishonoring the tentative "position" of Seal-Bearer. If she wins, so much the better. If not (and this is the far more likely outcome), she will have been forever changed and strengthened by the experience, and that is all I can expect from a character.

I think a lot of people will be a lot better with you so long as you stick around afterward. That's everyone's worries, that if you don't try for it, you'll vanish, and if you -do- try for it, you'll vanish if you lose. If you stick around, people will revert to being damned impressed with your skill, and will really change their attitudes. I just hope you can understand why we were a bit apprehensive to start with.

Sarapis once trusted somebody to become a goddess named Eris. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't be here playing this wonderful game right now. I'd love to think of this as a potential way to "pay it forward".

Thats just stupid, its so so stupid.

Estarra once trusted someone to become the god hajamin, if it wasn't for that we wouldn't have had a lot of dodgy stuff happening in the entire game and this guy wouldn't have got sacked.

Sorry I don't mean any offence but you enitre quote seems dam stupid, as I am sure I am as well. Just pointing out that althought I may be sounding stupding in responce to you it was you who started it and sometimes it takes one to know one.
ferlas2007-01-24 06:00:07
Sorry to make it more clear your post is basically:

Well someone trusted someone once and it worked out great and its all good so there fore you should trust people more and always.

Where as my post is:

Well Someone trusted someone once and it worked out dodgy and it itsn't and never will be all good no matter who you hire or trust so there fore you must always be careful and suspicious and very watchfull even if you trust them.

I do understand, completely, and I admit that I might be a bit ticked if the roles were reversed and some 18-year old novice came out of nowhere. That's why I'm not upset. It just feels a bit difficult and awkward as a player, knowing that I'm stuck between Scylla and Charybdis, but given the circumstances it's unavoidable. I'm not holding it against anyone.
