biggrin.gif I love it.

I'm officially blowing off the final event, though. RL things chose today to explode, and I've just got to stay focused on what's important.

Gah.

Well, that's sad for those of us who'd want to back you, but it shows how mature you are, as real life should and must take priority over Lusternia, at least in the grand scheme of things.
Iridiel2007-01-26 12:36:10
I don't think the risks involving OOC friends staying as friends are much worse than all the divines whose old personalities are well known among certain groups (even mentioned in the forums more or less overtly), but I am quite afraid the person being a God won't have as much fun as he though he would and stops playing/goes dormant/takes too much initiative and breaks something. Has happened with a lot of ephemerals, and also with a lot of established Divines in lusternia.

That said and from a totally OOC perspective, I think Kaervas would be a good choice. Always struck me as a mature player somehow.

And Phred, what I don't get is what are they doing some of the most important personalities of very hierarchical organizations in the basin paying any attention to a vulgar janitor. Strikes me as awfully bad roleplay that they actually bother to notice you. I mean, it's like RL world politicians having as main advisor the janitor. I admit a janitor knowing everything (that hidden figure unnoticed in the background) but being known and acknowledged by everybody looks weird. Not your fault, more like the fault of the people who actually pay attention to a meeting organized by a janitor. In Magnagora I remember newbies being told off for being too vocal, and they at least were apprentices guildmembers.

Ya I think the rough estimate someone said to me was it'll be a week or two where the new god is around a lot enjoying and seeing what they can actually do, then after about two weeks the god will stop comming round as much, then in about a month or two you'll hardly ever see them again. As you said a lot of ephermals and gods leave out of bordom and remember this new god apparently has even less to do than they do.

Well, to be honest, this might actually be more fun. Fain, Morgfyre, Terentia, Viravain, etc, all have to "pay their dues" in many ways by assisting with issues, bug fixes, coding, building, being guides when no players assigned to them are about, handling issues and bad players, etc.

The player god will not have to deal with any of that. So there is less of a burnout factor.

Player: But I could do this and that that would so totally rock everybody socks off!
Estarra: Sorry, that's not possible due to secrets high in the roadmap book for lusternia. Good idea though! But it would totally clash with a future event sad.gif
Player: But then what do I do? There's nobody involved in my current event and anyway I am sick of being all the time impersonating NPCs. I want to chat with people too smile.gif I used to do that as a player a lot.
Another God: Just remember you cannot chat with players either about OOC nonsense of any kind, for safe mesure don't chat with them at all unless it makes sense from an RP perspective.
Player: but but but
Heaves are silent. All gods have gone to sleep or are afk coding like mad.

I think sometimes having some stuff to do that you can do independently of players might help feel useful when there's no people to interact with or your events are stopped for historyline reasons, or just there's nobody around. Specially for that people who used to spend like 10 hours a day playing and interacting with people.

See I figured thats why they stick around, I'm guessing the lot of them probally spend more time coding and working behind on admin stuff and such and then stepping into mortal view when it suites them or when the opportunity pops up. I figured this new gods going to have basically nothing to do at all compared to what the other gods do, compared to gods and players they won't have coding to to, they won't have pk to get into, they won't have trade skills to play with, they won't have admin work to mess around with, they won't have active involvement in politics, won't get to bash etc and so on, unless they've come up with something really interesting for this new god to be doing then I figure its going to be dormant soon if all it is is a god minus admin powers.

I think that's the entire point - it's a position for someone who loves to RP for the sake of RP. They would be an incredibly active divine, for whatever organization they're in; they could lead all kinds of fun events like we see posted on the forums all the time. Basically, they have the chance to make up whatever minor RP events they want, and do them all the time. Of course, they probably won't be able to do much that will have a huge lasting effect (like the faethorn event, or something like that), but it could still be quite a bit of fun for someone who is creative. If the person is not creative and able to make up fun for themselves, it's probably not a good position for them.

I'm not sure I'm buying the it'll be amazing rp arugement, you can get amazing roleplay more so from being a character than being a god from what I can see. To be fair it sounds more like a job your saying the best part is basically helping others roleplay, it sounds like what imperian brought out only over there you don't lose your character to be able to do the job.

I would be making dreams to send to select individuals in that situation. Some people can always find stuff for themselves to do. If I didn't have a wedding to plan and general gaming addiction, I'd probabbly would have tried harder for the position.
Noola2007-01-26 16:50:46
Yeah... if I thought I'd actually had a chance, I might have too. I can't imagine there not being anything to do as an Ascended God.

It's a little of both, actually. Divine can interract with players as well, just not on an OOC level, it has to fit into their divine character. I think being a god would be a lot of fun to RP out in and of itself. Besides that, helping others RP would be a lot of fun, as well as setting up competitions and events, and stirring up trouble in general.

Good hell, nothing to do as a god without admin duties? Seriously? I'd never be bored if I could get that position.

Ditto. I would have so much fun, I'd never be seen un-shrouded, as I'd be too busy possessing mobs.

Whereas I think my first order of business would be firework displays 'round the clock for several weeks. fireworks.gif

I really need to get Noola up to fireworks before the changes to Illusions take them away from her. skarch.gif

Estarra said when I talked to her about all this that you'd only get limited mob possession occasionally for things you need for your plots and RP. (Though it'd increase as they trusted you more.)
