Quests / handins seems to be the way to go. I still use a very old route which is terribly overfarmed so only good when like nobody else is online, so I'm way below what Chade is getting, but then again I've not really been trying.

It's not hard to make a million gold at all.
Unknown2012-01-23 22:29:19
Cool. I'll try to focus my numbers more on turnins and whatnot then. Sounds like that should work.

I do think the point of the thread is about how it is done :P Because well, anyone can post it is easy, but without proof, that's a bit of a useless claim :|

My secrets are mine (and probably several others) but I'm not going to make it harder on myself to get gold by sharing it on the forums. :<
Enyalida2012-01-24 00:17:20
Our taxes are an absolute pittance. We've got a guildshop that I've been paying taxes on out-of-pocket for decades that makes about 0 profit at this point, and I really haven't noticed any sort of gold drain.
Ssaliss2012-01-24 00:20:42
I think all taxes are roughly the same (7k or so), since all shops costs the org 5k per IC year. And yes, my shops generate more gold than the taxes, but... not much. Heck, I could go bashing and get more gold in an hour than my Halli shop gets me per IC year. Some people make more gold an hour than I get from my Celest shop every year. Which is sometimes somewhat annoying, since people go "Wow, you've got four shops, you must be the richest in Lusternia". No, no I'm not.
Enyalida2012-01-24 00:22:50
Yeah, especially non-aethershops. What shops really need (IMO) is a directory where you can search what is in each. Otherwise, you won't see much but Guild shops being solidly restocked for long. A few hangers on.
Ssaliss2012-01-24 00:28:43
A directory for org-shops is something I'd definitely welcome, both as a shopkeeper and chancellor.

3) Pay taxes (or get an aethershop)
4)WeepDominate said niche in whatever way you feel like it
5) Weep, prepare for hate mail
6-10) Dominate niche, focus on creating a name, ???
11) Possible profit
kind of fixed

12) be disliked by...everyone...due to ways of 'dominating' claimed niche.

Of course not. That's not what I meant at all. Anyway, sorry. I guess it is sort of useful to know that someone is pulling it off.

I always wonder if the haters avoid then buying at said shop, or do it anyway, because they are 'forced to'. I think it's perfectly good business and the new shop limits even encourage it. But well, suppose it comes down to presentation. Still, if people envy a market niche, sometimes that's just a sign of success :P

I avoid it when possible. I'd rather not support such tactics.
Unknown2012-01-25 10:19:53
I, too, avoid it. I've even set my own shop up to not sell esteem to Sakr, because I'm pretty sure around 50k of the esteem he's selling comes from me.
Calixa2012-01-25 11:53:28
He's buying stuff from a store to hoard the supply and then reselling at a higher price I take it? I only know his shop from often having the lowest prices. Never questioned why >_>

Correct. He's notorious for price fixing. The reason he often has the lowest price is he buys all the stock anyone as at a lower price.
Unknown2012-01-25 22:28:14
Vertical integration, that's what Rockefeller did, yo!
But then I'd like to ask, how do you get to Icewynd? May be inappropriate here, but I'd like to ask, anyways? And are those mounds of death still around?

Mounds of Death are still around, use the rift in the centre of Crystal Meadows to get to Icewynd.

Nope. It's because I can get the commodities at the lowest price possible, and decide the minimum price it would take for me to still have a nice profit, yet remain underneath everyone else's prices. And as far as crafting goes, I would only work with 2 or 3 people. (This doesn't belong to the esteem category so, myth busted).
Anyways, buying and reselling is a good way to get that million gold. Or something that's a bit more long term, try buying / upgrading / and reselling real estate in the form of rent.
Or get lucky in roulette. Or buying and reselling commodities, from villages to cities or communes. Or focusing on a specific commodity and buying and reselling that sole commodity.
If you are thinking about a tradeskill that would make the most money.. jewelry needs the least amount of lessons for a large amount of profit. Alchemy needs more lessons, but makes a lot of money if you can get away from Ssaliss's niche. Enchanting and the rest of them kind of pale in comparison.
Food for thought.
