A guide to all my Characters past and present:

(haha, yes the original, if none of you remember)Elessar - EL-is-ar (I'm angry that someone took my name though sad.gif)
Ikthor - IK-thor (easy enough...)

and the hard one:

Majanishi - ma-ja-NEESH-ee

people have pronounced it: ma-ha-NESH-ee or ma-ja-NESH-ee. This is not acceptable tongue.gif. the e is long in nishi.

Actually, if you want to 'translate' Chinese to English, the best way is Han Yu Pin Yin.

For 'thanks' it'll be xie xie, both fourth intonation. (xie4 xie4)

For ni3, its the normal 'you'. nin2 is 'you' the respectful form of 'you', and usually used for parents, teachers, people older than you.

Bah, Han Yu Pin Yin is not chinese... romanizing chinese NEVER works. Oh well, your pronunciation is off by the way, of course it isn't with Han Yu Pin Yin, hence the problem...

Is Serenwilde probounced as it is spelled or Se-ren-wayld? Se-lest or Si-lest? Lus-ter-ni-uh or Las-ter-ni-uh? Mug-wump or Mag-wamp? Se-les-tin or Se-les-tayn?
How about tae'dae? Lachesis? Orclach?

Uh. Can we get a guide on the pronounciation of the Lusternian terms? I feel silly reading the bardic winners every month and stumble on some words because I'm not sure how to say it.

And yes... I read stories aloud as if I'm storytelling. With background music. Help?

SERR-enn-wild (wild rhymes with why.)

Seh-LEST.

LUSS-tern-ee-ah.

MUG-wump.

Seh-LESS-teen.

I don't get why you would get "a" sounds out of it...just listening to people with weird accents? :/
Gelo2007-02-19 10:49:57
Yes, by listening to brit music. suspicious.gif
Shiri2007-02-19 11:27:52
Wtf Brits make "a" sounds for "e" like that!?

I subscribe to the linux mentality of "pronounce it as you will", but I say my name as:

I make a point of pronouncing 'Linux' correctly - That is, lee-nux, not li-nux, because of how one pronounces Linus in Swedish.

LUSS-tern-ee-ah.

In my head, it's "loose-turn-ee-ah" (only the S and T sounds are together), not "lust-turn-ee-ah".

Yeah, I've heard some people pronounce it like that too...wasn't there a Roman region named something like that? I prefer mine though. ninja.gif

How do you pronounce elitist, again?
Eole2007-02-20 02:32:21
Oh, we're playing this game? Cool. I need to buff my postcount somethin' fierce since I forgot my old password.

It's EE-ohl, or EE-uhl, depending on your accent. Like someone making the word "eel" two syllables and really overenunciating it.

Jroem's is almost exactly like "Jerome," but flounced up a little. Jrr-OHM. Say it with a Maurice Chevalier accent!

I pronounce Kethuru as "Peaches."

No no. It's Cuddles. I should know, he was mine.

Daermon: I would say "Day-er-mun", but I've been told that's incorrect.

How did I miss this thread...

Let's see how best we can mispronounce Soll's new name. A-rid-ion (as in ion like ionic salt or ionic breeze)

irr-ID-ee-yon

Irridion. Something that sounds radioactive, no less, muahaha.

Verithrax - Pronounced just as written.

Whenever I try to pronounce your name, I think of "Veritable anthrax". That's right people, he's the real deal bioweapon.

If anyone can mispronounce my name, I shall be amazed. Well, except for those freaks Caedryn and Halamir, who both deserve to die. Maybe Incabulos too.

I took it about the same way: "truth disease". I'd be surprised if that were entirely coincidental.

Eet-ees-fair-lee-sim-pul.
Linaeve2007-04-06 15:17:23
Lin-AY-vay

Said quickly, it sounds more like Lin-eh-vay.

I always thought, and favoured, Morg-fear. Not Morg-fire. I like how it sounds.
Herl2007-04-09 06:43:04
-Herl- is just like -Earl-

so eaaaaasy! biggrin.gif
