I'm not sure how anyone can say that he's a Celestian god. His help file (I read it from the website, being at work currently) doesn't say anything about favouring Celest or Celestians, just those that cleanse themselves, or seek to cleanse themselves. That could include people like Cairam who realised finally what the Wyrd is (Taint with a pretty bow, as Hajamin put it) and sought to cleanse herself, and now she resides in Serenwilde. He just seems to be Anti-Taint, not... Pro-Celest. If I'm wrong in how I see that, then Ayridion is free to correct me.

I was just making the comment that He's not neutral, as some were hoping, as He is anti-Taint.
Dvyrus2007-01-29 21:06:52
It would be rather boring to have a God without any sort of beliefs or something to go against, wouldn't it?
Gwylifar2007-01-29 21:09:01
There are plenty of spheres of focus one could choose which would constitute a belief, but not be particularly aligned with or against any of the four nations.
Daganev2007-01-29 21:10:09
Ayridion's main focus appears to be teaching people about their potential. that subtle comments about being anti taint seem like just an added bonus.

It is too bad that he's anti-taint, now he's just another god I can ignore and never pay any attention to.

I was hoping that, having faced Kethuru Himself, that the Ascended God would realize that Mag-Taint is, as Shikari put it, nothing more than a footprint, and holds nothing evil within it other than what lies in the hearts of those who wield it.

Just want to say I loved this event... I went in expecting to lose 3 to 6 circles as I'm not all that strong yet anyway, and sure enough I dropped 5. I couldn't even guess at how many times I died. I have the log so maybe I'll get curious later. But I was there start to finish and quite mentally drained by the end, and despite that (looking back), I loved every minute of it.
The waves of tentacles/eyeballs sucked, but hello? we were fighting against a god. A rather unhappy god at that...
My only disappointment was this...
I think the seal bearers could have done a bit more through public posts to rally others from outside their perspective commune/city. Then perhaps people would have had justification to not support their commune representative.
Another thing that could have swayed the battle is if a seal bearer was to support another seal bearer. For example, if Amarysse was around to support Shorlen, we could have had her run around astral simply for the purpose of destroying Kethuru's spawn, or as another person to handle the staff. Or even if the seal bearers agreed that should a certain person take the lead, they could have rallied together to ensure that a certain person doesn't win.
Then again, being there in the middle of the insanity of it all, organizing such things would be difficult at best. But I guess it would have been nice to see a little more political strategy in addition to the military strategy.

forren and shamarah supported Soll while Daevos supported Hallen... so it did happen... Amarysse didn't go up there because she could've diedThe waves of tentacles/eyeballs sucked, but hello? we were fighting against a god. A rather unhappy god at that...

And thank you Lusternia... for giving us what we want... YET ANOTHER ANTI-TAINT GOD... New Ephemerals should try for Shikari or Auskelis.. those are really cool
Unknown2007-01-29 22:14:05
Maybe he'll pull a Viravain and go berserk on everyone
Or not. Anyway, the player should choose a role that he feels most comfortable playing, so I can see this as something Soll can ease in to. Who knows, maybe something unexpected will happen, maybe not, only time will tell *gag cliche*

so Soll's player is the new god?
Erm, that was sort of the entire point of the Ascension.
Forren2007-01-29 23:26:46
No offense to Amarysse, but she would have died every few minutes on astral, easily, from two eyeball attacks.
Acrune2007-01-29 23:30:08
But she would have gotten half a level from each she killed by moving
Catarin2007-01-29 23:31:57
Wait...we were supposed to last longer than two minutes at a time?

I don't think so...
Exeryte2007-01-29 23:45:17
A bit off topic, but has the time it takes to become neurotic on the Astral Plane been shortened? It took me around 15 minutes to get there from being completely sane. I'm not sure if this is intentional because of the Ascension event and Kethuru almost breaking free.

Amarysse actually posted that something came up IRL and she wouldn't be able to be around. So I don't think she "didn't go up there because she could've died".
And at the end, much to my shock, Daevos handed the staff over to Shorlen. So yes, there was some of that sort of inter-org support going on, just not much, and unfortunately wasn't enough to turn things back around.

Not necessarily, I can't say I survived long, but I generally died with the rest of the group. On the other hand, her seal would have destroyed Kethuru things whenever she walked into a room, so if she kept on the move, and let whatever followers help with native astral creatures, quite a bit of experience could have been had on her part, and she could have potentially cleared the road for us.
I was only at circle 46 when the event started (fell to 41). If I could hack it (however temporarily) she could hack it too. The difference would be the massive experience gain she would have had a shot at.
I would have felt totally useless if I wasn't able to block exits, having as many Serenguard as we did was definitely a plus. Other than that I was just a meat shield, but hey better than nothing.

Excellent, I guess I missed that in the chaos. I could probably spend a week studying my log trying to discern exactly what happened through the whole event. Which I may do, just to better understand some of the group tactics that totally went over my head.
Genevieve2007-01-30 00:16:11
No, she posted that in this thread, not the chaos of that day.
