I think the aforementioned idea of spectacles being enchanted is an awesome idea, but only for enchantments that have to do with sight, like already mentioned, scry, etc. I think that would serve a double purpose of flair and actual usefulness.

I don't think my current char will need glasses till he is muccccch older... plus he's Elfen, so he's got heightened senses (as compared to humans) as it is.
