Found this post by one bloke amusing:

That is amusing, as we haven't had ships all along and only found out about them when the Gnomes decided to show us.

Not to mention you know.. ships are hardly a main part of the storyline of Lusternia. unsure.gif

Who knows, probably in a few months we'll be having aetherbattles, aetherpirates, aethermerchants and heck, probably live in aetherspace forever! (Except the part where you have to dock in a commune/city to get power.)

Really tempted to make another character as a rouge and focus all in Aethercraft... problem is who's going to accept a fresh-out-of-the-portal character to be an aethercrew? unsure.gif

Sadly, aetherspace combat isn't quite viable yet... If there was a reason for aetherspace combat to happen, and some form of arena for them, I'd see if I could get an Envoy report for aetherspace. I think I have a good idea of what needs to be fixed, but since I've never actually been involved in any aethership combat (due to some of the current issues, such as the trivial ease of escape), I'm not quite sure.

They all said it wouldn't happen..
They laughed at me!

Well.. Look who's laughing now ACHAEA. harhar1.gif

On a serious note though, I am also an ex-Achaean who saw the light and found Lusternia. There was a post long ago on the Lusty forums talking about what was wrong with Achaea. I'm too lazy to go find the thread so.. yeah. In any case, I highly doubt all the Achaean griefers would come here for the following reasons.

1.) As previously mentioned. No Horkval, No Monk, No Occultist, Scant to absolutely no theft = No Achaean griefers.

2.) For fear of losing all their precious artifacts and Lusty not having lame and unfair artifacts = No Achaean Griefers.

Of course, Lusty has it's own share of griefers. But deep down, they're all cuddly on the inside..

Honestly, I didn't think Achaea was that bad when I used to play (Okay, I was like 14, so that's probably why) but welcome to all you Achaeans who have shifted over to us here in Lusty... no make characters and join the Harbingers!

There are circles you can run in while playing Achaea and experience very good, consistent roleplay. In my experience, Mhaldor has enjoyed a long tradition of good roleplay between the majority of its players. That said, doing all your roleplay within Mhaldor or another discrete group of individuals is both tiresome and ultimately impossible. Sooner or later you have to deal with other players and the lack of roleplay from those quarters is almost universal. The upshot of this, I suppose, is that if you're going to do all your roleplaying with the same thirty or forty people, they may as well belong to different organizations. In my admittedly new and perhaps ignorant opinion, this is the best argument in favor of Lusternia versus Achaea.

On the other hand, roleplaying within Mhaldor provides an opportunity to interact with a comparatively larger, antagonistic community of decent roleplayers. I would guess that promotions are harder to come by, because there is a larger pool of capable roleplayer/administrator types to compete with. When your city or guild has only three to five active administrator types on any given day, the choice is narrower and the competition, if you want to call it that, is more concentrated. I would guess that this is why, all things being equal, people want more players rather than less.

Edit: Or to put the second point differently, it can be difficult to work up an interest in spending untold hours and hundreds of dollars only to emerge twelve months later as King Yertle the Turtle of Sala-ma-Sond, ruling on high from a rock in my pond. Apologies to Dr. Seuss.

I hate...hate... HATE Laras for that post she made.

HATE.

I, and others like me, left Achaea for a REASON. mad.gif

I don't want the griefers and lolzpkers coming here just to ruin this game and get it nerfed. It works FINE the way it is now. There is good roleplaying, the guilds are amazing, autoclass doesn't exist, and best of all, there is a point to people killing each other.

If you're migrating from Achaea and coming to Lusternia to roleplay and give something back to the game, not just suck the fun out of other people's times, then welcome. If you're previously an Achaea griefer, get the heck out!

I was previously an Achaean griefer, sweetie, and I'm staying put. Let's keep this thread flowers and happiness, kay? It's the one that all the Achaeans are reading! And we want them to join us! We don't want them to make Lusternia into Achaea Mark 2, but that's not going to happen. A new influx of blood will only do us good.

Well, just to get the term "griefer" put right, when I say griefer, I mean, "I will stay logged in for 24 hours to kill anyone who won't issue me/is open PK, despite the fact that I/my character has no reasons to do so. I do it just because I want to win and I will keep doing it until the Admin change it."

But okay, I can wub.gif the people who will give something to Lusternia, not just take from it and make it Achaea Mark 2.

I thought so too...back when there was ONLY Achaea. I've hardly been back since they started releasing new games.

Furien2007-02-03 08:49:06
I also left Achaea for a reason, though I'm still there, only barely...There's just way too relaxed roleplay, WAY too many people acting as if they're 11 year olds trying to pwn some noobz on an online game to stroke their ego.

I just hope they don't come over here looking for bait. If they do, we'll kick them out, I hope!

Currently, on Achaea forums there is a thread about Lusternia. It has me and others moving over this MUD (well at some degree). So, if you see an spike in memberships, it may be us Achaeans biggrin.gif

Lusternia seems pretty awesome though. Has many things I would like in Achaea and things I wouldn't have even thought of. Looking forward to joining a guild at some time.

Thanks!

PLEASE tell me you left Cain and Rameus and Kiet and Tiax and Jago and Cooper and Tiax and Carmell and...did I mention Tiax? Gods, I hope you left them all behind. dry.gif If any of them end up over here, I will go get on Achaea and kick your ass, Drauka. I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!!! ...ACHAEA!!

Meh. Stop bashing Achaeans please, people. We have no real reason to be snobbish, since the vast majority of the reasons why we prefer Lusternia are to do with the way the admin have made, and run the game. If the dubious claims of superior playerbase have any validity, it is down to that, and not down to some inherent quality within ourselves.

I think Lusternia has a lot of potential, but I would wager that Achaea has a better chance of tightening roleplay and implementing new concepts than Lusternia has in terms of increasing its playerbase by the 100 persons per hour it needs to flesh out its existing organizations.
