That forum thread is quite amusing actually.

Even Ceres is almost being inoffensive. And it's nice that Moggy et al. are sticking up for us. biggrin.gif

Though I spend all of my time nowaday on Imperian, I still occasionally read and post on Lusty and Achaea's forums when I'm bored. I see that Lusternia has a lot of potentials and the general populace is usually good enough as to not drive players away anymore. Just keep most of your pickerings to a mininum on the Forums so the new players don't think most Lusternians spend more time complaining on the Forums than actually enjoying the game. biggrin.gif

P.S.- I hate these new emotes.

...Come take a walk in the hallowed halls of the Celestines, and learn about Lord Elostian from the erudite dracnari Neerth. Engage in a debate (‘non-violent’ ego PvP battle) as soon as you step out of the portal! Steal farmers from the village of Estelbar to be enslaved by the Orcs of Acknor! Not only does it make you stronger, it increases political tensions between Magnagora and Serenwilde! Explore each city and commune’s nexus world! Join the Star
Aviators of Celest and go on an aether-jaunt in the city’s aethership....

Oh so subtle laugh.gif

Anyway... I came from Achaea too. I didn't see much roleplay, then autoclass came in. More reason to lose roleplay so I went to Lusternia.

For those who would create a character based on famous Achaean characters, I will tell you a story about someone who created a character named Cain here in Lusternia.
He stepped out of the Portal of fates, got immediately questioned by people about his identity, got ganged up by people everywhere he went, he never made it to level 20. He suicided his character in about 3 days time, I think.

This is an extremely poor rp in the part of the Lusternian players, but meh... Hell hath no fury than a griefed player's scorn.

With that said, welcome Achaeans!
Contact any of us ingame if you need anything.

and remember to VOTE LUSTERNIA!

That's not just poor RP, it's sheer spite. The name's a very popular one in books, movies, console/PC games, and, yes... online games as well. Just having the name does not mean that you're creating a character "based" on anyone or anything else, nor does it imply that the player behind that name happens to be the same person.

Thankfully, I haven't seen that sort of attitude or behavior myself as of yet, and I hope sincerely that I never do. Several people have posted about Lusternia's superior playerbase, but I see nothing superior in that particular sort of treatment. It helps no one, and serves only to drive people away from what might otherwise be an enjoyable, immersive experience.

Yes.. I agree with Amarysse. How unspeakably retarded.

What a highly amusing thread, and it didn't seem to possess a lot of the, 'lolzusuck' posts I seem to find in forum threads about other games.

The part about not joining Glom saddened me just a little, but ah well. Domination will come swiftly, soon enough, heathens.

Oh, and welcome to Lusternia, whoever may find their way over.
Reiha2007-02-04 21:09:21
Not sure if I posted yet, too lazy to check, but all of you newbies welcome to Lusternia!

And also, greetings, disgruntled former Achaeans! Now, to become a REAL Lusternian, you must select a guild from any organizaton except Celest, and once you have reached a little over 75 hours of playing and are of 20 years of age or older, you must then send this tell to either Dylara, Kharaen, Cairam, or Reiha: "I would like to become a Kalas, please adopt me." And for added convience, you should have your character waiting at the Hall of Records so Reiha doesn't have to walk her a** over.

Your Lusternian-trial experience is over. You can now fully enjoy the game and reach demi-god hood in no time.

I know. Cain was a Hartstone druid and we had problems protecting him.
I guess its because this happened right after open beta closed. Majority of the players came from other IRE games so they griefed the strong players (or those character's name) in Achaea here. Extremely poor rp sadly.

And an Achaean friend informed me that there is a Kaervas in the Achaean Shamans and sadly, he got a lot of glares too. sad.gif

EDIT: The sad smilie isn't as sad as the old one.

Regarding the Cain thing; Cain is a griefer in Achaea. Not one of the biggest, but definitely one of the most obnoxious. I don't think he should have been hassled, but asked to change his name instead.

They should just not allow Cain as an acceptable name.

And if you think the Kalas's family is bad...

From an Achaea bloodline. After she went on a rampage they had to hardcode changes to prevent this stuff from happening. She wasn't very happy.:

I, like the vast majority of Lusternians, played Achaea for many years. Not withstanding my personal opinion of the Achaean Cain, I find the suggestion that because of him, his name should be banned in Lusternia, absolutely risible. Call me naive, but I would prefer to think that our playerbase might be capable of behaving in a marginally less moronic manner, and simply treat the new Cain according to his just deserts.

One of my biggest fears is that some of the obnoxious 11 year old griefers from Achaea will decide to come to Lusternia to raise hell simply because we don't want them here. I don't know if that's what those people were afraid of regarding the Cain situation, but it could have been handled better.

Well, I may give Lusternia a shot. I'm from Achaea and have been putting it off forever. I'd hate to spend this much money building up another character in another game. But, I'm about through with the attitudes there. Anyways, I have a few questions. I'm more a basher. How's the bashing here? Are there guilds that don't require your first born and both left limbs to advance? I've been lurking on the forums here for a while and everyone seems so much more...able to get along and less sarcastic. Does that represent the game as a whole, or do you have the same problem of lolpwners?

Thanks

I'll leave the bashing comments to those more experienced with it and Achaea's...as for the guild advancements though, it's -incredibly- easy to get out of novicehood - as in, you don't even have to do anything, just play for 24 hours or less. You can trans all your skills right there; no one has post-novicehood skill restrictions. So if that's all you're looking for in guild advancement you're fine anywhere. Actual systems to increase your GR are another matter though, I don't know how many of those we have left in the Basin that actually work (ours has fallen to pieces long since.)
Furien2007-02-10 08:29:13
Bashing here is MUCH more profitable than Achaea's ever is.

Achaea requires you to be level 70 and above, very tanky, have a ton of blessings, get grove rains etc. just to get to denizens that have a -decent- gold drop rate.

Lusternia hardly requires little for basic bashers, a bit more for middle and up (greatrobes, fullplate, etc., which are still easy to get!) Newbie bashing is..boring, at first, but when you get up past that into the cash denizens (they often drop 100 gold on their own, and are worth 100+ per body), it gets so much more worth it. A run of certain places can net you about 5k in one go, depending on what's available and what your organization's restrictions are.

Bashing in Lusternia has its own set of complications. Most of the 80+ bashing grounds are off Prime. Which means they are Free PK: people can kill you for looking at them funny up there. The advantage, of course, is that people constantly looking to harass other players on other planes can be swiftly attacked by a group without fear of being jumped individually later. That said, Lusternia has enough bashing zones at 80. However:

- Magnagorans cannot bash Ur'dead: The Ur'Guard are not fans of this.
- Catacombs is an extremely dangerous area that can kill even seasoned bashers. Enter at your own risk.
- The Astral plane is great for bashing, but can cause serious Insanity affliction to your character. You'll also need relatively high Planar to get it, which almost certainly means you'll need a few credits.
- Gorgogs are nice, but do serious damage. In addition, you can't find as many if the Gorgog Rift has not been opened.

Most Guilds have very simple Guild Advancement programs to make the 24 period required to graduate even shorter.

There are lolpwners here, but the lack of ease in killing, the relatively smaller number of PK artifacts, aethersight (There is no Veil here, and this ability will automatically detect anyone farseeing you. It's called scrying here) and the fact the PK system is MUCH better (no "open PK" nonsense) means that griefers can't have the same fun here as in Achaea. Which means they rapidly get bored and leave. Woo.
