There's LOTS of differences! For example, in American, the word for a tap is a "faucet." And the word for a wardrobe is a "closet." And...they have words like jelly, biscuits, cookies and so forth all utterly mixed up.
(It's really pretty similar, we're just digging at the Americans for not speaking properly.)

Romanian's my first language. English my second. French my third. I could live without any problems in a country where one of the three is an official language.

English, and then I've taken about 7 years of Spanish through school so my comprehension level is pretty high, however I can't speak the language very well, only understand/read it.
As for programming languages I won't bother going into those.

I just did an incredibly long paper on reclaiming the Irish Gaellic language from its century or so of oppression, and learned all about how people sometimes lose themselves in the English takeover.
I've never really met anyone who's fallen sway to it. It's pretty sad. For those of you that have sort lost your first language- do you regret it?

English is my second language, Mandarin Chinese being my first (although, having fallen in disuse, I've practically forgotten it.)
I plan on learning Chinese again when I get into University.

Same here except they're both my first language sorta. It's sad how I'm going to have to learn Chinese again. >_<
