Ok could you all BOLD please? I can't read your fonts, I admit to having bad eye sight and all, but I just got these glasses, and I can hardly read the posts without highlighting. Or is there a way we can change it? Hmm off to explore that if it doesn't take a century and a half for the pages to load.... Yeah I hate waiting longer then a minute for what looks like a loaded page to unlock the scroll.
Ok, that is a cute smilie... I like this smilie at least Can we keep it if they change the skin?
EDIT: I guess I don't know how to bold it....
EDIT2: Yeah....

On Firefox (If you don't have, get it) you can zoom in the fonts with control-+ or control-mousewheel.

I like the new skin! Very pretty, but I still kind of miss the blue one. But the font - size isn't so much a problem, but the color should be darker - hard to read light brown on a tan skin.
Edit: Would also like to add I love the waiting screen with the crosses and red ball... so pretty!

This one is nice but I prefer Crystal Clear way more than the current skin.

As much as I would like to be positive and happy about us getting some sort of official lusternian skin, I'm going to have to stop browsing the forums. Trying to read such a low font/background contrast is litterally giving me a serious headache and is making me feel rather queezy. In order to read the forums enough to comment on the new deafness changes, I had to contantly stare at trillian/notepad sessions until my stomach calmed down and my headache subsided. When you run a resolution of 1920 x 1440, you really need good contrast with such tiny writing, or at least, I do.
I seriously don't mean to whine about how much I dislike the skin (which I do), but it isn't just me. Of the only other two forum-goers that I could reach over AIM, both also became ill looking at the forums. Despite my forum addiction, this is just too much for me. If you need to contact me, send me PMs in game.

Shorlen, man up. How do you get queezy watching a computer screen!? You on a roller coaster or something?
Really, ctrl + mousewheel ftw, or just highlight it with your cursor. (ctrl + shift + end/home)

here's my feedback:
STOP CHANGING MY FORUM SKINS!!! >.<
I just realised the window to the left of my post with the avatar on it kinda looks like a Magic card, complete with flavour text

I'm more of a blue person, really. I'd like it if the text showed up a bit more against the background, but there aren't really many colours that go well with buff. It's not very readable at all, and doesn't feel very Lusternian. Somebody was having a serious aethetic crisis when they made this, methinks.
Hmmm.
Also, I think the crown smilies are ugly.

I'm having no problem reading the forum at all. I think I must have my default font size etc set to a minimum.
Unknown2007-02-04 14:06:44
I very strongly dislike the new skin. The stone frames bother me for some reason, but my main concern is that it doesn't feel like Lusternia at all. It's too much "generic fantasy" or even "medieval" while Lusternia is more "ephemereal, planar adventure". As such, I preferred the blue one.
EDIT: And the crosses make it look like Final Fantasy Tactics. Not that I dislike FFT...

I'm going to have to stop browsing the forums.
If we don't get something readable as an option, I will eventually, when time permits, come up with some user CSS that will fix the more egregious parts of the unreadability of this skin and offer it to anyone who wants it. I don't know if Firefox has caught up with user CSS yet, so you might have to upgrade to Opera to use it if not, though.
Gwylifar2007-02-04 15:24:50
You can download my user CSS here. Right-click this, then save it in the directory C:\\Program Files\\Opera\\Styles. Then right-click on the page and go into Site preferences, and on the Display tab, change "my style sheet" to that file you just saved. Finally, enable View | Styles | User mode.
Note that this doesn't change the graphics so you get a lot of ugly mismatched bits of brown and odd floating chunks of border. It's undoubtedly a mess. Also some of the buttons don't work, so you might have to briefly change back to Author Mode to do things and then change back. But the text is blissfully readable. And it'll do until we get the old default skin made available again.
Testing done with Opera 9.02, should work with any version of Opera 9. If someone can make this work with Firefox, please post directions how it's done for the benefit of those using Firefox.

Please, please, please, please, at least give us the old blue-white one back. This one is screwing with my eyes severely.
And if anyone works out how to make Gwylifar's thing work in firefox, if it's even possible, tell me? >.>

I find it nice. Pleasing on the eyes too. I can also see the writing perfectly. the smilies are cool too
Also, humans ftw! It's nice to have them on a permanent forum skin.

If you are going to insist on keeping this , generic "Royal Elegance" fantasy skin, at least get whatever web monkey you have on staff to FIX it. This skin is pathetic from an aesthetic, design, and implementation standpoint. And because I'm not a Ranter Knight because I just wantonly flame things without valid reasoning behind any of my points, I will actually take the time to describe why it fails so hard.
The color scheme for this skin is extremely generic "ye olde schoole" fantasy. Dark tan on tan with red and gray highlights is totally what all the other cool skins are using. Thing is, even if there are skins that use similar color schemes effectively, this one does not. One of the most important things to do when creating a skin with realistic looking textures (I'm getting to this one in a sec) is to figure out how the elements of the skin would actually be pieced together if this skin were to somehow exist in real life. This skin fails here because they're putting random chunks of stone on paper. Additionally, the dark stone border attracts attention to itself rather than the cell it's surrounding due to its heavy contrast with the elements both inside and outside it, as does the heavy red bars at the top and the bottom.
There's also that whole issue with the background of the individual cells being plain, flat, boring colors while everything else is so noisy:
And while we're on textures, check out these 64x64 image tiles. They're so obvious. I can look at something and easily see where it repeats. BAD THING. Check out what I'm talking about on the random bar that's just sitting between the thread and the reply buttons:
Font color choice is horrible. If no colors go with your background color then don't frakkin' use it. At the very least, darken it to almost black so it's actually readable on darker backgrounds like, say, the quote background, the "fast reply" background, or the all-important thread page selector:
Finally, this skin looks like it was made by someone who didn't bother clicking any buttons to make sure his skin actually worked. There are several major consistency issues that are being held over from the default skin:
Look at that red. NOT OUT OF PLACE AT ALL.
Hey wait, they didn't have buttons like that in historic times...
Lol is dat sum default icons?
In short, this skin is unprofessional and is a poor choice for a corporate-owned community forum. This skin will drive people away from the forums except for those who don't mind shitty looking stuff or just hate this less than they hated the previous blue skin.
Edit: This is what I get for taking 20 minutes to write a post. Now put the smileys back and we're good.
