Right, forgot. Daganev is too busy playing Imperian all the time to pay attention to Ebonguard. :/

I never meant to say it's the only reason, but I'd definitely say it has an affect on those sort of things.

I wouldn't. I'd also think I have a bit more experience in the matter.

Yes, nerf the joke.

(And if you meant choke-- really, just work in it a bit. It's not all that much different from working under aeon. You need to be patient and not try to rush things through. Don't panic!)

My jokes are just too funny and are clearly imbalanced, they need nerfing.

Fscking Freudian slips.

He already knows. He's probably got better things to do than fix choke, though. You should probably talk to the local gods around Lusternia about it instead...

I wanna hear your Jesus Christ joke!

Jesus and Moses were strolling by the Red Sea, when Moses nudged Jesus and said, "Psst. Hey, Jesus, I've still got it."

Moses turned towards the Red Sea and lifted his staff on high. The angels began to sing, the gentle sea breeze turned into a raging gale, and the waters of the Red Sea were parted. Moses lowered his arms and, with a smug grin on his face, turned back to face Jesus.

Jesus scoffed. "Moses, my boy," said the Messiah, "I have still got it." And with a flourish of his robes, Jesus stepped onto the waters of the Red Sea and began to stride across without so much as a ripple.

But to Moses' amazement, halfway across the water, Jesus suddenly began to sink. He splashed into the water and began to choke and flounder as the waves tossed him around. Moses grumbled at Jesus' sillyness and parted the water once more. Moses helped Jesus back to shore, as the Saviour hacked up salt water.

When they had finally reached shore, Moses slapped a consoling hand on Jesus' shoulder and said, "Don't worry about it, Lord. Last time you tried it, you didn't have holes in your feet."

I blame the Ebonguard slump on my absence. Obvious cause. Half of them only come around to see me.

Exeryte and I noted one time, that there was less people about after I started showing up less and after I left. I have always blamed it on myself. wink.gif (course that was around the time serrin, strakc, scach, pantoo, and a few other left as well)

And we should certainly all remember that Topguilds doesn't really mean much.

I've not found that to be true. While it may not mean much to average players I've found that admins tend to at least give it a bit of consideration. That's in Achaea and Lusternia too.

Choke seems like a really bad situation, it's the sort of imbalance that you can't truly rectify by empowering other skills to combat it without otherwise harming the game. So hmm. Bringing out the nerf bat is a very trepid move for any developer, as a rule it's almost always better to make things more powerful then it is to weaken them to even out imbalance but.. not sure how you can accomplish such effectively when in concerns to how Choke seems.

Er, no. It's usually better to nerf one thing than power up several, not only because it's easier, but because it leads to power creep that can ruin a game.
Unknown2007-02-22 01:01:17
It's all a matter of perspective and how things are controlled and implemented really. But when in doubt, people are more likely to quit a game over such things if their own abilities are 'ruined' by the nerf bat, then vice versa. Either that or clearly you're not aware of how much bitching nerfing stuff usually causes.
Unknown2007-02-22 01:25:24
I have to agree with Sylphas on this one.
Gelo2007-02-22 04:34:57
Ok since we're in "fighting in choke' thread, I need an advise. Im an ecologist druid. How do I fight in choke? While yes, I have a passive demesne ability, how would i get it to hit? I mean, surely a shadowdancer would first get a scroll or protection up, then passively order his ents to hit me, then just rework on putting the protection scroll or worse, sipping love potion. I find headbutting them is not really working since they would just return to the room by the time I recover balance. So help please. What usually happen is I just end up not fighting. Getting cures in choke as described in the 1st post is hard already, and I can't do anything to get a kill. Any worthwhile skill to use?

I'm not complaining, I really need an advice about this one.
Unknown2007-02-22 04:39:40
I think pampared by well run IRE muds you all fail to see the danger of nerfing. Thankfully, IRE run games tend to hand out enough boosts and nerfs equally enough to all archetypes as needed that it's rarely a problem. But seriously, the nerf stick can hurt a lot more then you're letting on. I assume it's because you simply haven't experienced it in any game you've played. The main thing I'm saying though, is it's easier to fix a weaker class/archetype then it is to tone down and fix a stronger one.

And is that Panic! At the Disco in your avatar? Also, where is these silly looking anime-ish avatars from?
Unknown2007-02-22 05:34:24
Yeah that is Panic smile.gif.

We've had plenty of nerfs and there have been buffs people have scoffed at. I get what you're saying, nerfs are demoralising, but if you use buffs and counter-buffs to balance, everyone becomes too strong. At least that's my understanding of the argument.
