As was promised, nexus worlds hold the potential for more conflict through this newly released system. Battle times occur once every several days and last approximately one hour. The power of constructs/colossi is helped by the number of their loyalists that stand before them, thus encouraging a battle among players before each battle zone. Further, the only way for enemies into the nexus worlds is through aetherspace, thus encouraging aethership battles around those entry points in aetherspace. Constructs can be healed but only very slowly, thus it will usually take several battles to destroy one (thus hopefully preventing an advantage when battles happen to occur in off times).
We want to add more constructs and are open to suggestions for what they might do. For example, we are considering constructs that make avatars/aspects invulnerable on the ethereal plane and doubling the strength of ladies/daughter, and maybe something similar for Nil and Celestia. These effects would last as long as the constructs stand.
Please post your comments and ideas!

This reminds me a lot of Battlemech. I don't know why.

It seems really cool so far. The idea is, I have yet to see it in practice though so I can't comment fully. The Hearts are expensive and I have a question, are they from personal reserves or from a powerstone?
Tomorrow I'll take a better look. But I can't wait to see how this'll be if it works out as it should.

Not really, given that the Colossi can't even move by the sound of it.
It would be really cool if you could build them and use them to defend/attack Org territory.

Edit: This is the coolest thing released yet!!! I'm so psyched
Some ideas for new Constructs, cause right now we need something to defend! (Serenwilde could easily do without the harmony spire)
I think it'd be neat to post some ideas for new constructs we'd like to see!
The Power Node
A spherical structure that sucks power from the nexus world and radiates it out from nexus.
Upkeep- 200 power per weave
Effect: +5 to max dross per weave (up to 20% from dross)
Cost: 200 iron, 50 silver, 50 platinum, 1000 power
Homing Beacon
Similar to the beacon the divine use to pull others out of the void, this makes finding the nexus aether string much easier to find.
Reduce the time to teleport nexus by 25 - 50 %
Upkeep: 100 power per weave
Cost: 300 wood, 25 diamond, 2000 power
Aether portal
Allows you to communicate to Prime/nexus world via the nexus
Effect: Allows you use CT, GT, and GNT from the nexus world OR makesa the plane count as "1" away for all purposes (tess, tells, ect)
Upkeept: 50 per month
Cost: 50 gold, 50 iron, 5000 power
Post your own!

Some answers from the Oneiroi:
No, you cannot build the colossi parts ahead of time and just assemble them at the construct. No, you cannot build the entire collosi ahead of time and somehow get him to the construct.
I don't know if this is because of decay time of the parts, or what. No answer yet on if the heart is enchanted at the pentagram, or right at the construct.
edit: Heart is enchanted at the pentagram. Currently asking it it means that they CAN be made in advance, or if decay time is short.

These are some excellent ideas. A construct that increases dross power never even occurred to me!
Caedryn2007-02-12 03:04:48
Not trying to seem down on this, but, even though I really like the idea....
I'm not 100% sure how it all works. From what I can tell (and I may be wrong), you need to raid an enemy nexus world, assemble a Colossus there, then use it to fight with. So far, so good.
This would be okay in theory, but in practice, what it means is (and please, correct me if I'm wrong), that you need a near-trans artisan, a near-trans enchanter, AND near trans whatever-elses to just get the thing off the ground. In hostile territory, as well.
Given the paucity of artisans and some of the other trades in general, could it be a better idea to make the colossi a lower skill level skill, but give colossi made by more skilled artisans greater stats?

The first two, I wouldn't really care to see erected-- not enough benefit for the cost IMO, like the current construct. The last one, though, would be EXTREMELY helpful. It's so easy for a littlebie to get stuck on the aether bubble without being able to communicate... or a not-so-littlebie (here's looking at you, Shamarah).

I don't like this idea, those get killed rarely enough as is and they already have the immortal time period after being revived. Killing those is really the only big hit you can do to another org at the moment, though I imagine the Colossi will be another once it becomes used more. Even so, I don't think adding one large goal should nearly remove the possibility of reaching another goal.

The cost really isn't that large, 300 power a month for both. If they were 500 power each, then yeah, probably not worth it. I do like all three ideas though, if the cost was reasonable.
Lysandus2007-02-12 03:30:19
Perhaps build a construct that's so expensive yet once built, it'll halve all power consumption (construct upkeep, guards upkeep, etc.)?
Dunno, just in mind so that we have something to prioritize in destroying/defending when attacking aetherconstructs/colossus

ENGAGE - Locks you into the construct you're standing in.
DISENGAGE - Unlocks you from the construct you're standing in.

All the tradeskills were changed to have the colossi parts and upgrades.
Unknown2007-02-12 04:06:42
That's an idea.. if you don't have a construct built, then a colossus can be built at your nexus and its attacks will drain power. But so long as you have a construct, your nexus is protected from attack.

By the way: this is SO cool. It's going to be a lot better than Icons in Achaea... did you guys watch that experience before designing the system? It just puts tingles in my giblets...

I thought we had teleportation.
