Yes, a friend who has to be in the same area. As would be the case if raiding. Or hunting together. Or any number of other reasons. You can still carry it yourself, or cache and retrieve it if you'd rather revive somewhere else.
Hmm. Would Astral count as all one area? I think it might. You could wander around at will, secure in the knowledge that if you die you'd show up, no experience lost, at the aetherdock or nexus of your choice. That's not bad at all.

That's not really feasible when you're raiding, unless I was with Kaervas or Ashteru, I wouldn't be able to see the benefit in me giving it to someone else. I rarely hunt with others, I'm not sure if that's the norm though.
I dunno if Astral would be one area. I would think the spheres would be the areas, not the plane.
Vaerhon2007-04-02 03:13:35
So just carry it yourself on a raid and, if you die, retreat to redef. Same for hunting on astral, if the spheres are separate areas.
If the worst case for this ability is that you get the exp effects of lich or darkrebirth, and the best case is that you get that and to choose where you resurrect... it's a nice construct mechanically.
How's the rp side of things?
I don't know whether Glomdoring as whole is as interested in closer relations with Crow as Magnagora is interested in undeath, but it seems like it might have quite decent rp as well.

Would it be possible to make it so it only works in the local-area on Prime, but throughout the whole plane on the outer planes? It'd be nice for those of us without Conglut (also guessing it fires before Conglut?).
Arel2007-04-02 03:24:08
I guess I'm just disappointed that Glom didn't get cool stuff like Celest or Serenwilde. I dunno how any of their skills work, but they sound fun.
Arel isn't particularly interested in becoming closer with Crow. I'm not sure if many of the Harbingers are, but I don't get the feeling that many do. I doubt the Shadowdancers are much interested in Crow either, but I dunno.

i don't even like the soul rez all that much. people don't like the seren construct just because it does two things let's us teleport to moon, gives you a long way up and down from astral. Yay! most people who go to astral can already do so. Yes most, there's maybe a couple who can't. The soul rez costs people like Kalodan tons of experience as Estarra said. I would've preferred having it the construct just let us resurgem bards and trackers and such or all moonchildren, then instead of the soul rez, get some other interesting bonus like the chill aura that liches get. The moondancers could get some sort of effect that the Moonaura has on their enemies. a shafts effect would be kind of neat, but I guess the time for the altar changes have passed and we're onto the Glom one. I sort of think seren and Celest have the worst two, and Mag and glom got the best two. Not saying that the seren and celests ones are bad, just not as good. But I mean there's always more constructs coming out so I'm sure the story will be different in all cases.
Xavius2007-04-02 04:10:10
Can't you resurgem bards and trackers with the aura? I'd always assumed you could.
The bonus is, for all intents and purposes, no-xp loss vitae that needs to be renewed every day, with the option to reform a couple rooms away if you're expecting trouble. It's pretty similar to lich, lich-lite as described above, except 1) lich doesn't cost 10p every month, 2) lich's full potential is there even if you're jumped or alone. Lich also comes with perks. This does not. The Mag construct has increased bonuses for true liches. The bonus for Crow users is a no-xp loss vitae that doesn't strip the spirit def. (Want to know how many Crow users use vitae?)
Don't get me wrong--there are benefits. I think our biggest irks are the high power cost, not just for the construct, but also for using the construct, since this all needs to be renewed, and how the benefit is a very scaled down version of the real skill. We'll see. We're tossing around ideas to bring it up to what we perceive to be par, and I'm sure the admin will talk it over with us to get it to what we all perceive to be par.

I believe that the experience loss is immense due to the fact that you use heartstop. Heartstop increases the amount of xp you lose for it. It would be alot cheaper if you let someone kill you and then resurgem.

agreed on the benefits for lich. they also get disadvantages but the true liches get some nifty buffs. THat's what I was hoping for for true moon users :/ yes mooon childs can be resurgemed, but I said that's what I'd be satisfied with just that and not the upgraded soul rez. But estarra did already say that she's thinking of extending the length of the egg. so it's likely to happen

My first thought was "Wow, Xavius was right."
My second one was "Meh."
But after thinking about it a bit, it's not that bad. Sure, I can't really use it much for raiding (Except maybe putting it at the entrance of a village to get out and spore after I die.), but I am sure it will help the less tanky people with bashing and all. I just hope that if I ever plant an egg, and I die, no one took it and placed it at their nexus. That would be kinda unhealthy.

It wouldn't work... same area only. If they took and moved your egg, you'd just die. Heh.
And for bashing, it's going to generally be better just to use vitae. If someone jumps you, at least you'll get suspect.
Ashteru2007-04-02 13:56:33
Hmm, does it stack with Vitae?
Just in case we built it or anything. If not, well...I don't see me using this, heh.
(I knew we should've gotten Nightkiss v2.0 . *eyeshift*)

I was playing around a bit with the lichiness of Mag's Crypt-thing, and it was a little dissapointing, as a geomancer. Yes, I didn't have to pray when I died, it was EXP loss free, but I -seriously- think people overestimate the power of lichdom. Especially during the day time Summary: I don't think it's as retardedly OP as everyone makes it sound.
Glom's sounds like it might have potential.
My favourite thus far (though my experience is only secondhand when Ayridion let Raikogen play with the angelaura for an hour) has to be Celest's because it gives active skills and I like active skills. Although once I play around with it for a bit I won't be feeling it's so retardedly OP as everyone's making out to be either.

Moonchilde is boring.. the only cool thing is the Astral thing, but that every city has
I would've preffered the Celest or Magnagora ones... something cool like that

no plz... not Liches with Trueheal
Shamarah2007-04-02 21:46:48
It would be useful to me, but only because I could trigger touch medallion upon hatching from the egg (assuming there's no balance loss, being as there isn't with vitae). For most people this is a pretty suck-tastic construct and it's obviously not worth building just for me to use.
