Not everyone gets that luxury, so, construct.

It would have to be REALLY cheap to make that worthwhile...:/

Don't Cities also get Waterwalk enchantments, Waterwalk, Waterbreathe enchantments and Waterbreathe?
Doman2007-03-04 07:44:40
Was just tossing out ideas, really. I was kinda considering doing it just for Celest so its other citizens could keep up with Merians...maybe something else, like give Celestians a command in deep water that's like Bask for dracnari, and lets them clear afflictions.

Only if Seren gets the ability to resurgem souls.
We already have one that makes immolate free. Resurgem is a step down from that imo even if it can be used on souls, needing 5 people in the coven. Would the skill give them all the resurgem ability plus the ability to join moon covens? Then we're essentially giving away half the moon skillset then.I'd much rather see constructs for Glom/Seren that reduce coven size needed for skills. Or rather letting resurgem effect all seren's, before tracking/bards resurgem could be used on 100% of the non-newbie wilders, now it's a little over half. Not that I think any of those would be worth the type of maintenance required for these constructs, but improving the skill would be better then giving the unimproved skill to everyone. What good would it do a bard/guard to have a skill he couldn't even have used on himself.
Anyway, if we wanted to make overpowered commune constructs and completely ignore the fact that there are two specialties we could always give Terror/Rage to all members, and make the skill worldwide all the time. We'd let everyone mirror wiccans and use 3 skills at range:
bards: blank note/minor second plus whitehorn or crowcaw
druids: thornlash/cudgel/nature curse
warriors: Swing/Jab plus slit throat or pulp
I think that's still less OP then Acrune's suggestion. Afterall, you'd still only need to use a single inept skill to stop the construct plus infinity number of high level skills from infinity number of people.

Here is my long list of super overpowerd construct ideas.
1. +3 to each stats save size and +15% damage reduction from all sources.
2. Cubix for every member of the commune/city
3. Constant healing of health, mana and ego
4. Constant curing of afflictions.
For Glomdoring:
1. False memory box: Ability to change any room description to what you think it should be. And immunity to all illusions.
Just had to get those out into the open

Is it possible to destroy a construct once it's up?

by enemies: yes but it won't be easy, see colossi
by your own org: yes don't pay the upkeep

If the little surprise is worth it or not... I don't know! You'll have to ask an Archlich!

I assume the "archliches" you refer to are the ones who are trans necromancy and possess the bonuses. Are they supposed to be distinguished? I cannot find anything IC to differentiate liches from archliches. Race shows both as "undead" as well.
Felandi2007-03-04 10:38:51
Novices getting Lich? Never again will they complain about bashing being too hard.
Ixion2007-03-04 10:41:56
Save that a considerable portion die to diggers which you'd lich then just die again. Also, novices will not have the power to upkeep lich well even with dross power. Though sure.. it is pretty interesting to see random kids as liches.

If a Construct that allowed Coven size to be cut in half was created, it would also (for Glomdoring) need to cut the amount of shadows in half. 50 shadows for a single ability is a bit silly (although, 25 isn't all that much better).

I knew about the by enemies thing, I meant by the org, but do you mean there's a syntax for paying the upkeep, or does it deduct automatically?

I think the point of 'resurgeming souls' was that if you die in Glom your body is likely destroyed by the time there's a coven up and ready. Mag got a free, no-exp costing death for every citizen now by the looks of it, hence people are crying for something similar
Reducing coven since would do fairly little. If you die when hunting the corpse can usually be found and immolated (hint hornbeam hint) and if you die in raiding /defence without conglut your body is likely destroyed by the time the coven is up, no matter if 5 or 3 people are needed. Rezzing souls would be lovely.
Whatever it's gonna be I think we can expect it to be in the extremes section, either totally weak or totally strong. (If it's the later I'm taking bets on how long it will be for the colossi powers to get nerfed because of the endless flood of rant posts and threads)
EDIT: In reply to Ixion: Your statement about 'find out IC' is kind of screwed. Why would IC a Magnagoran tell a Celestian -anything- at all? If people don't know anything about it they'll just assume the worst (which in the past has led to nerfs already I believe).
Karnagan2007-03-04 16:42:04
Archlich is worth it. So very worth it. Drool. The only way to make the ability more worth it would make the skill retardedly OP'ed. Anyone can Lich in Mag for all I care. Happy, happy day.
Genevieve2007-03-04 16:58:12
I'd have to agree with Aesyra. The only way to find out IC would be joining Mag. The other option left to us is to create an alt or something, which would still be OOC
Nariah2007-03-04 21:25:20
Since the Black Crypt is up now here's a list of my thoughts:
Pluses:
- finally a resurrection ability
- Archlich - no penalties and a nice ability (I wonder if it stacks when few people use it?)
Minuses:
- liching novices
- giving away the ability that crowns Necromantic service for power upkeep (it hurts but people will shrug it off)
Ideas:
- show a difference between Archliches and Liches under race as well (give us more love!)
- no liching novices! (somehow)
- please do not force Archliches to run to the Black Crypt to snatch the arch-lich seed - as it is, it forces us to run from wherever we died to the Crypt to put it up again (say mid-raid), which we won't do and thus later get someone to kill us/heartstop just to get the arch-lich seed back (-20 power!). One in a lifetime exposure to the Black Crypt should be enough to re-gain it since we are so damn good and study Necromancy in comparision with the common folk
- Instead of a Lich change say... Demi-lich anyone? Resurrect, but since they did not sacrifice their life to the study of Undeath they cannot harness the Contagion and Chilling Touch powers.
Problems:
- Bugged it already but in case it is noticed here faster: the construction did not take the money or the spectres it was supposed to take.
Overall IC:
Overall OOC:

Rant I don't understand...
I don't understand. The whole point of Magnagora is to try and spread the taint, correct? Undeath is considered the height of the Taint's touch to an extent, right? So..why, ICly, would people be upset that they had discovered a way to raise their entire civilization to higher heights within the taint, beyond anything that anyone outside of Magnagora can imagine?
ICly this should be a good thing. I really don't understand why you wouldn't want everyone in Magnagora to be a lich, as it just further shows your superiority over the rest of the world.
However, I do think that there should be a defining name for Archliches, but I think that the rest of Magnagora should still retain chill touch and such. Let go of your OOC, which is what's driving this "but but but... I spent credits on lich!" argument and embrace the IC reasoning that all of Magnagora has just taken a huge step forward in its Transformation.
