So, one of the headlines of the newspaper today was "PENDOT delays plowing as part of it's safty measure" PENDOT is: PENnsylvania(a state in the northeastern USA) Department Of Transportation.

Well their theory is if they plow throughout a storm like this, one with snow and freezing rain in bundles, that the result would be a thin sheet of ice on the roads, which could be hazardous. blah blah, whatever, stupid media...



In actuality, their failure to plow during the storm only made the roads worse, people trying to get to supermarkets or work or the gas station and back home had to drive on top of around a foot of this snow and freezing rain combination, packing it down into a solid mass while the plows were still waiting for the whole storm system to move through and be over. Now there are a few inches of solid hard-packed ice on the roadways.

Now, a full day after, major routes are still closed and it's all because of their mismanagement.

Edit: Oh, and to make this personal. My dad put 150 miles on the car, used 25 dollars of gas, left last night at 4pm, got home at 7am this morning, and never even made it to his work, Interstates were closed. The police actually directed him and other stuck motorists to a fire station and they were all fed spaghetti and meatballs some time during the night.

I got a flurry but it didn't last.

We got a lot of snow. A good amount of southern Ontario was closed down. Wicked cold though.

We got a decent amount of snow with a ton of freezing rain. Basically everything is covered in ice and there were a lot of power outages to the north because of frozen tree branches breaking and falling on frozen power lines. It took me a while to clean off my car, I ended up bringing out a thermos of scalding water to melt the ice off the side mirrors.

We've gotten a good amount here too... It snowed pretty hard for a couple days, then got warm just long enough for the surface of the snow to melt and then harden when it got cold enough... All must so it can seem like you've got a steady footing, you go to put more weight on your foot to keep walking and wham! - icey snow halfway up your calf and soaking into your pants whily you try to pull your leg out.

We have a lot of the packed snow melting then turning to ice too. It's actually NICE to turn onto a side road and see all the brown snow all over the road. You can drive like, two miles an hour faster. And this all sucks because my boyfriend delivers for Dominos, and now has to drive in all this crap.

But on a funny point... We went out earlier and when we got back, he pulled up to the curb and the snow was about a third as high as my door... to to try and open it, and the icey parts won't let me open the door. So he has to pull out into the middle of the road so I can get out.

When I got in my car this morning, I stood on the snow next to my door, jumped up and down several times, and didn't dent it. My father works for the township highway department; there are neighborhoods where they simply can't do anything. Had to keep the major roads open, so the secondary ones are choked with packed ice you really can't touch. EDIT: Bastard crown smilies need to gtfo.

I've never seen snow and it makes me sad. You're lucky.

I want snow! Damn temperate climate.

Damn, we've been at like 30+ all summer here it's so messed up. I swear it's hot in the middle of the night some times, I can't wait for colder summer.(No australians don't have winter damn ozone hole thingy *glare*)

I still haven't gotten around to completely clearing off everything, and I've been out there with A PICKAXE and shovel the last three days trying to break this god-forsaken foot or so of ice off of everything.

It's great for building forts, since piles of plowed up snow turned into perfect blocks of ice.

It's also great for sliding around on, sledding down hills (using your own body as a sled, of course) and playing various other games.

Sadly, it's also like landing on really cold concrete when you lose your balance.

I don't like snow. we got some snow in kansas city missouri. It's melting now . I can't wait till summer

I've only seen snow once in my life, on top of a mountain in Germany. This world is so unfair in many ways.
