What would you like to see?

So while we're down, lets hear what new features you would like to see in the future of Lusternia!

(Please don't post about skill balance issues--we see enough threads about that!)

I would like to see more hunting areas on the prime plane. These places can have rich backgrounds/histories as well as some upper-level mobs that are difficult/challenging to hunt.

I would also like to see some new quests that aren't just your typical "give item A to denizen B, rinse and repeat". Maybe quests that have a few different outcomes/routes to the finish so they are fun to do multiple times (beyond just accusing a different person of murder, etc.)
Shryke2007-02-14 19:21:13
I'd like to see more planar areas, good bashing places, wierd quasi-planes that you could access from various to be discovered locations, possibly shifting, so there are some rare extremely lucrative places that are very difficult to find more than once.. etc. etc. More wierd random stuff that will get people all excited when they discover it!! (Lusternia is pretty damned well known right now) secretly adding some mystery to it would grrreat IMO.

#edit: funny how we both said bashing places (veo and I) I never saw her post, I think it's significant.

It's a little thing, but...

More RP flavor with languages -- something to indicate what language is being spoken. IRL, I know the difference between hearing German and hearing French, even if it's incomprehensible. I'd like to see something like that reflected in the game. It'd be fun to, as a bookbinder, do all of my angry cursing in an guttural language, etc.

For instance, when speaking Igasho:

Vionne, in a guttural language, says "So and So!"
Vionne says something incomprehensible in a guttural tongue.

I wouldn't mind some lower credit prices. cloud9.gif

But as other said, some higher-level bashing areas would be nice. Even with a harmony blessing it's difficult to find new stuff to bash even at a really low level of 68. Make sure Celest can hunt them, please!

And exploding cookies. We have a need for exploding cookies, I think.
Mogg2007-02-14 19:27:22
That's because there aren't a lot of places to bash if you aren't bashing astral. Some more places to influence bash would be great, ESPECIALLY ones you can get to without an aethership.
Unknown2007-02-14 19:29:16
More event activity on aetherbubbles would be fun. We already have wild nodes when astral gets swarmed. We do have constucts going up, but that's more of an organized raid then a contest.

There could be some sort of item to aquire, or thing to kill (manifestation-like things) or, maybe a creature you could capture, some sort of small quasi hamster aether-beasties that would be benefitial to nations in some way. Anything to promote a maximum of ships jumping to and from all of the avalible aetherports, and encouraged to blow other ships up. *aetherhamsters escape through the broken aethership's haul if everyone on board dies in a crash* biggrin.gif

More bashing areas on prime, some sort of significance to actually tour the elemental planes besides hunting/essence gathering, being able to adopt two kids at once, being able to be adopted even though one founded but rejected a family, "apartments to rent" on prime for those can't exactly afford a manse but would like to live in a housing arrangement, Mechas(!), not necessarily two but one organization to open up cause with four it's kind of boring (you can only have so many types of alliances and such), some random citizen NPCs that aren't necesarily part of a quest/service, but just there to talk and give flavour and immersion (like some woman going to the market, one worrying about their guild, etc - like you see in any RPG on a console), more places in the cities and communes to visit, some sightseeing. That's all I can think of.

Sorry hon, can't have it both ways, unless these areas have low gold drops. That being said, I'd still like more high level bashing areas. Especially ones WITHOUT sentients! Nerra doesn't hunt Merians anymore, and that has had a huge impact on her gold sad.gif

I'd also love a few places like the moors where the more questing you do, the more you learn .Grey moors are my fav. area for sooo many reasons
Estarra2007-02-14 19:39:16
Regarding new areas on prime or off, I too am a little disappointed that we are slow. However, it's not like we don't want new areas or there aren't currently any in the works. The truth is that it is a lot harder than you may imagine to get an area out. Some of our areas take months to over a year to finish. Also, because we have a small staff and not everyone on staff is interested in building, we do what we can do.

That said, if you are a creative writer and have ideas for areas, feel free to post them on the plots board with some sample rooms! (Did you know mortal builders earn credits?)

Do you accept mortal builders without doing a call for them? All the other realms seemed to have a call for builders and then take applications.

I might be echoing what I've already read here, but I'd like to see more areas - not only for hunting, but also for questing. Right now, a player can get from one part of the world to any other very, very quickly. While this is nice for people who want to meet up with their friends, it takes away from the scale of the game.

A side effect is that certain areas become the places where everyone goes (the elemental planes, the aslaran and krokani camps, and the inner sea). By giving people more options on where they can go, hopefully we'll see the playerbase spreading out when they leave the cities.

Lusternia feels like a small world, and adding more areas that actually take time to move around to would make it a bit more epic.

I would like to see more incentives given to those who are in leadership positions. As it stands, almost every political position is held by someone who is more or less volunteering to put the work in. While for the most part, it is important to for the players who are our city and guild leaders to make the environment they have influene in richer roleplay experiences, I am a big believer in economics - we will have better roleplay from these people if they are motivated by tangible rewards.

I would like to see a shift in the roleplay environment that makes the cities aligned more closely, as well as the forests. Right now it is too easy to draw the line between Celest and Mag, and the forests just kind of join up with whichever city more of its citizens support at the moment.

If something were to happen that slightly tainted Celest, or that cleansed Magnagora, or transferred a bit of each city into the other, which forced them to work together, the difference could be shifted to the philosophy that differentiates both cities (which is mutable), instead of the fact that one is Tainted, and one is not (immutable).

In other words, by making everything far more ambiguous, it makes it much more difficult to follow stay in the lines that seem to be drawn for us at present.

Well, I shouldn't really jump the gun without talking to our builder manager but .....

I think it's safe to say if we are blown away by an idea and writing samples posted on plots, you'd most likely be whisked off to be a builder.

Regarding new areas on Prime, I'd love if at least one of them was outside the Basin. With the way Lusternia is designed, there can only be so many areas inside the Mountain Ring. Perhaps with Ayridion cleansing a new path from the mountains? If he can defeat Kethuru, he should at least be able to clean Taint +, no?

Yes yes! biggrin.gif Homes on prime you can buy or...rent...for an indefinite amount of time. Either that, or lower Aethermanse prices, currently they are 300,000 to start, and 100,000 to add, right?

And more levels to the artisanals! whistling.gif

And Magnagoran rez power. Definitely, or does that belong under Rants?

Also, however misplaced this is, is it really necessary for personal emotes to cost balance? I try to customize how my character smiles and whatnots, but the cost on balance makes that inconvenient at times.

edit: And this, and this, and that, and this, and get that for me too Santa!

I very much agree with this idea. Leaders used to have credits coming in, but organizations took them over.

I would also like to see more high-level hunting/influencing areas - I'll get to work trying to think of something to submit to plots. I like the idea of aetherspace-based quests and conflict. The only real problem with that is that it requires learning another skill to really get involved. If more of these things were based around aetherbubbles instead, it might take care of both problems (giving some incentive to kill the other ships racing around, while also allowing those without trans aethercraft specializations to contribute).

I'd also like to see Lusternia take on more guides/builders/etc. Partly so that I can earn credits, partly just to see that the jobs get done more efficiently (there are still some times when there are no guides around), and partly to take some of the burden off of the admin who do basically everything.

I am looking forward to the new constructs, and other things that have already been announced too (illusions specs FTW)!

He didn't defeat Kethuru.

He strengthened the Seals/Avechna, which rebound Kethuru-- sacrificing himself in the process.

Thus he became Ayridion, but before that formation, Kethuru was already bound, and that was done when Soll was still a mortal, as I understand it. It was his sacrifice that did it, not any actions resulting from that.

Agreed with everyone else, we -need- a lot more bashing areas especially for higher level characters. I know they take a while but I think they should really be focussed on. Also, I know you said all areas need to be part of the story of Lusternia but try to release more areas that don't have a reason to be protected by other organizations. Mainly, release more monster orientated areas such as greatly expanding the nagaradja's area.

I'd also like to see Bard guards and discretionary powers soon.

Also, I think elemental planes need to be expanded as they are rather dull. They need some questso r tings to do besides just the sand gathering for the Lords every once in a while. Along that line of thinking, Cosmic Planes could probably have some added stuff to do as well.

EDIT: Thought of some more..

I know it will take a lot of coding but an Aethership arena would be very cool.

Also, a new original tertiary skill for Bards that isn't shared with anyone else. As well as the Illusions specializations to come out sometime soon, I'm really looking forward to those.

We also need areas that have Mugwumps and Trills, since they don't really have any areas to themselves.

Oh, Riding also needs to be revamped and Lusternia'd.
Doman2007-02-14 20:22:52
Definitely more influencing areas. The only place worth it at the moment is Tosha. Aetherbubbles are too much effort to get to, and villages are worth next to nothing.

Maybe another monestary full of Nuns...or evil monks...or maybe a military camp of orclach outside the basin...so many possibilities...-goes on rambling and jotting down ideas.- disappear.gif
