What would you like to see?

Back to Common Grounds.

+ I’d like to see the nexus world constructs be like the tech-tree in Civilization III or Buildings in Warcraft/Starcraft.

It would be nice for this area of the game to have a resource-management flavor.

New buildings would allow you access to city/commune specific upgrades. The guards could get more afflictions/strength, Weapons forged in Celest’s foundry get a small damage bonus. Etc. Or maybe a construct that attracts a stronger mob (circle 60-69) to the nexus world. Perhaps an upgrade that increases the respawn rate of nexus world mobs or makes them drop a bit of gold.

+ Definitely more RP flavour with languages.

More RP flavor with languages -- something to indicate what language is being spoken. IRL, I know the difference between hearing German and hearing French, even if it's incomprehensible. I'd like to see something like that reflected in the game. It'd be fun to, as a bookbinder, do all of my angry cursing in an guttural language, etc.

+ A definite benefit to designing new items. Making new items takes a lot of time. I’d like to see either a yearly contest for designs like the library contest, or an honours line. Veonira is a Fashionista in Tailoring for creating 500 shoes or some such. Currently you can design a billion things for your city cartel and no-one will ever know.

+ Agree City Leaders should have an artifact or power (or pet?). Disagree that one should be given to Secretaries/Undersecs. I think there would be enough screaming about balance between the city/communes with four artifacts.

Uh, Callus... Try this: 64.127.116.166, port 23.

Wow, thanks Pentu. It worked. smile.gif

Anything that increases customizability and puts more power in the hands of the players is a good thing. More powerful and customizable clans, organizations and manses particularly.

Less relevant to me, but still insteresting: Anything that makes conflict a strategic, long-term process rather than "Cubix to enemy's plane, gank, demesne, flee" is a good thing - Constructs and Colossi may or may not be a step in that direction.

Lest Verithrax's self-confessed irrelevance cause people to miss his post, I approve of both those ideas. I'd love clans to be even more customisable.

EDIT: Drat, it still doesn't work. =( I'm trying to connect via MUSH, but it just throws this at me:

So have someone forge you some? They still exist.

Nope.

I like the leader artefacts. Make them be badges of office which can be crafted by jewellers and empowered by enchanters or alchemists (according to your org type). After that they can be passed from one leader to another whenever there are changes.

My idea is an arena with chariot races. You can buy a chariot, choose which beasts to use for your team (with different traits, some tire out faster, others are harder to control) and then you can race around the track - base commands would be drive your beasts on (accelerate), rein them in (decelerate), turn right / left, turn hard right / left. Whenever you're turning, depending on your speed and your space on the race track, you might lose control and end up moving in a direction you didn't want to (turning too wide, usually) and bumping into the racetrack's walls or another chariot, doing damage to you, your chariot and/or your beasts. Too much damage and you crash.

Some Random Bard Ideas
Behold, my trashy and inconsequential costume idea! I rather like the stage idea, though.

- The ability for admin to designate a room a 'stage' (since I think every Bard guild has one). "Underground" or down from the stage could be a costume/prop room. Also, when on a stage, make illusions that are being cast impossible to detect.

The Celest theatre, and I think the other orgs' theatres, all already have a concealed backstage room, so that could be used. And I would prefer roles being savable in the same was that songs and manoeuvres are as a Master 0% or 25% or something skill in a Music spec.

Also, I think some skills still have the " teaches you the first segment of a lesson in " things, which needs to be fixed.

Also also, I honestly think that there shouldn't be a limit on bard songs. Or at the very least, make unlimited slots for songs without imbued powers.

I agree with Genos, a unique tertiary skill for bards would be great. Preferably one that is mostly RP and Utility skills.

No balance-taking for custom emotes.

That Jojobo-thingy jungle place that was mentioned in the Book of Aslarn.

Rewards for RP. Currently, you get punishments for not RPing, and those only work when an admin is around and listening, but you should get extra privileges of some king for RPing well. Preferably RP skills, or being able to make customised presets for basic emotes like smile, bow, greet and laugh, being able to customise room-entry/exit strings, even if only temporarily, anyone who's played SoI or something with the same engine will know what I'm talking about with that - In summary, I, personally, want Lusternia to become a bit more RP-oriented for those who enjoy RP.

Also, I think that HELP MADNESS should be more strongly enforced - It seems the bit about not treating health, xp and stats as numbers IC is pretty much unenforced. I hear people talking about "Gorgogs do damage" at the Pool, etc. which sucks, and breaks immersion. Do you sit and count how many drops of blood you can see when someone sticks a sword into you?

While I'm at it, the help-reading thingy on the website seems to be broken.

I disagree with this. The problem that came up in other IRE games is that people use emotes as illusions in combat. It interferes with immersion, and cheapens the illusions skillset. The balance (I assume) was put in to prevent people from using them that way.

Bad Richter, bad. Don't go around giving people the IP to connect to their own computer and telling them it's Lusternia.

I wish lusternia was that IP, it has a good ping time tongue.gif

As I think someone else might've pointed out, it would only work on a stage.

EDIT: I think I have been "ninja'd"

As a former SoI player, I know what you're talking about, but the degree of immersion that they've achieved over there simply isn't viable in Lusternia. In SoI, there is a universal RP-intensive environment and the vast majority of the game focuses around roleplay, whereas in Lusternia, RP is just one focus, perhaps even a secondary focus after combat. Although the majority of Lusternians could responsibly handle such flexible commands, a few will definitely not be able to handle stuff like totally customized says, emotes and room exits and it'll ruin the entire thing.

However! I do think something positive can be done with the "He is an extremely credible player" in player honours. I don't really know what though.

Do you mean you think there already is something positive with credibility, or that something could be added?

Either way, to clarify, everyone starts off with "Extremely credible" and you start losing privileges if you lose rolepoints, i.e. credibility, but there currently aren't any gains from great RP.

Ack, yeah, I forgot. Then again, it is possible to change the colour of emotes in CONFIG COLOUR, so it should be possible to code stuff so that it isn't interpreted by the system, and even if it isn't, it's an issuable offence to abuse something like that in that way.
Jigan2007-02-15 20:07:06
Hrm, I'd like some assassins as well.

Someway to mix poisons. Ability to get through undetected. Urban stalking.

It'd also be very interesting that if you had three sketches of a person, if you have enough skill, you could "be" the person. However, you'd still have to dress like them. Jane puts on some makeup and a wig and such to look like Trader Bob, but also needs to lose the dress and put on clothes that Bob would wear.

Doubt that would work, however. I had a whole slew of ideas for assassins, bleh. Now I forget them.

(Maybe a method of telling how someone died and a method of tracking people? Not with a hound, but by steps?)
