Put the bonus lessons from their rank in a lesson pool, not in the actual skill. That way they can spend on something else (unless they're omnitrans, then they have to wait for the next new skill to come out).

I believe they are refering to the small ammount of lessons you gain if you teach people skills.

What I would like most of all would be for the family system to be reworked to be more flexible so that family trees can actually accurately represent all family members. I don't even really care about great house bonuses I'm just tired of how some people are completely left out with the current system and when people go "what! how can that person be related it says blah blah blah"

Seconded. No one really cares about the perks for having a "great house", they just want the role-play of family, and an official record of it.

Exarius has three daughters now, for example, by two different women. All five women are long-time players, and 4 of the five relationships have been long defined. But even though they're sensible biological relatiosnhips (all full-blooded aslaran), they're never going to go on the books because to me it's not worth compromising my role-play to do the marriage/divorce/marriage, when it wouldn't accurately reflect the relationships. And I'm not even sure what the end result would be on the record books.

I understand the basic need for a mechanic to keep families from being formed at the drop of a hat, and to keep from children being made official without plenty of time for thought from both parents. Left completely unregulated, familial relations would have no permanency whatever, and then what's the point?

But right now, they're being treated with the regulation of a game mechanic (carefully balanced to make "great houses" hard to establish), not the regulation of an important role-playing tool (attempting to simulate and maintain plausible family structures).

I'd like to see the rules against incest taken out for Viscanti.

She is, or the man playing him is.

Has been for some time, though that doesn't stop him from getting around bans and harming the games.

Oh, I didn't realize that =\\ How unfortuate that someone would do that. Assuming that he is an american, I wonder if dodging IP bans is enough to get his ISP to discontinue service...

Exactly, and I suggested, don't put the bonus lessons from teaching directly in the skill, put it in the related pool. That way the teacher can still use them for something if they're trans in the skill they were teaching. Rationale: teaching Astrology makes you understand more about Astrology, but it also trains your mind, helping you understand other things better too !

I'm already trans 9 skills and well on my way to the rest, a lesson bonus boosting guild arti will do nothing but make me wish I had the artifact sooner :(

What I'd like to see most is better "bookkeeping" features built into the game.

There's lots of places where players are drowning in information, and unless you're a programmer with a quality client, there's just no way to deal with it all in any organized fashion.

Shopkeeping, for instance, and all sorts of governmental functions. (At one point months ago, I got credited with having given 1000 energy to a community simply because the beleaguered power minister hadn't kept on top of the books for a few days.)

I don't know much about the governmental stuff myself, but the functions I could come up with to make managing a shop easier could probably be fleshed out far enough to justify a whole "shopkeeping" skill based around them.

I think this makes the number 2 spot on my list right behind new areas.

I agree.. and I'd like a library log as well...

has assigned the subject line to book#
has archived book#
has published book#
has submitted a critique against book blah#

It would be useful to see when other books are published by other libraries - i.e when their copies enter yours.

book# has been published by the Halls of the Void

Then perhaps remove some of the org log spam and stick it on here too. So, don't tell the city that book blah has been successfully published - stick it here.

This would make me a happy chappy.

Maybe I'm just too new but are there mounts of some sort? Like horses or something? (I'm going to be beaten for saying this...) (I hope they don't hurt me too bad) What about putting a limit on how fast you can move when just walking and adding in mounts. (They are starting to stare...) When you are on your mount you don't have that speed limit. (My soul is damned...)

I dunno it's just something I thought might be cool but I know having a limit would probably just make people mad.

Or.... as an alternative to the above while still having mounts....

Leave the game without any movement speed limit (Oh good their anger is weakening) and instead simply give combat bonuses (or negatives) for riding your mount and armor bonuses for the different armors the mount is wearing? (I think I see some of them smiling....)

Just my two cents.

Hehehe..

We have mounts - a fair variety of them, but they're generally not used as the riding skillset is almost entirely redundant. If you're knocked prone, you fall off your horsey.. and as you get knocked prone rather a lot, you don't gain much by trying to stay astride your steed except a lot of wasted time you could spend beating your opponent with a club.

It's been a long time since I last had riding, but I seem to remember that mounted, with the right skill, you can sprint. Not hugely useful if you can sprint anyway... but if you can't, it's nice.

Riding a mount -does- give some sort of armour bonus, but I'm not sure how significant it is.

As far as riding is concerned, I'd like a few more Lusternian-based individual skills in the skillset, and an ability which enables you to cling to the saddle of your mount, so that if you're knocked sideways you're still on it, and getting up and back on doesn't cost you any more time than standing would, normally.

Edit: I should add that the only reason people take riding is for 'trample', which has the mount crush the limbs of all your enemies who are prone. Forren times it very nicely with his demesne while on Nil raids... it needs a power cost.

Edit2: How about a Knightly alternative to athletics? Horsemanship or the like - so that we warriors could get to be proper knights.. on proper horseback.. with lances. I'd love a new variant of charge... where you impale your target on your lance and carry him out of the room. Fun. Hey.. I might have to write me a thread about this.

Along the same lines, something like
READLOG SUMMARY POWER x
gives total power by person for a selected day

aaannnd

READLOG "X" NO Y
Exactly the same as READLOG "X" "Y" (for instance Readlog Serenwilde Shorlen) but instead of only showing entries with Y it /doesn't/ show enteries with Y
Sooo you could do READLOG SERENWILDE NO WELCOMED to get rid of all the "so and so welcomed so and so to the commune"
Vionne2007-02-20 00:38:47

No, not quite. She's asking for a SUMMARY built into the system. POWERLOG 0 0 SHORLEN will show each and every time I added power to the nexus or drew power from the nexus. Adding all that up takes a system, which takes coding, which is quite complicated for some people.

Nerra's asking for a summary feature built into the game, where someone can just ask the game to tabulate the power draw and restoration for each person.
