I never last very long in Nethack. My most successful character ever made it to 11th level on a day I was rampaging through in 'full reckless' mode. Congratulations on beating the game.

Full reckless mode is fun : D It's also how you learn what NOT to do If you actually want to try doing well, I strongly recommend glancing at a faq site such as my favourite, http://www.steelypips.org/nethack/

Congrats. My closest to ascending was reaching level 25 or so of Ghennom (sp?) where I ran into a mind flayer. I didn't have a helmet.... needless to say it went not so well. Annoying, because I was owning basicly all other creatures, and had EVERY item i needed.

Ew, mind flayers are irritating. I nearly died this time by using a blessed scroll of genocide on h to kill mind flayers and master mind flayers, forgetting that I was a dwarf. I caught myself at the last minute, and switched it to ; (eels and sharks).

I really can't win without genociding arch-liches and master mind flayers, they're both so deadly. Especially arch-liches that summon arch-liches and master mind flayers - that's how I lost the last time I was doing really well : (

The best way to deal with mind flayers is to kill them at long, long range. Chucking Mjollnir at them while running away was my tactic of choice this time

The species you hated the most was leprechauns.

Yeah, I enjoy NetHack, but I'm not very good at it.

I think my first "what not to do" experience was eating tripe and being killed by a newt while I was sick. >.<

Leprechauns gang up on you by the several-dozens - It's hard not to end up killing truckloads.

And how did you manage to only kill 3 grid bugs? You must have just skipped most of the first levels or something.

Played NetHack a bit, but got bored rather quickly.

I prefer ADOM.

Thats curious, I was the other way around...
