Well owing to how things work here and the attitude of a few, I am calling it a day. I was really looking forward to playing here, but when you get literally ordered to do something, ask for some politeness, get slain -then- get told you are in the wrong....That is extremely lame. I left Aetolia to get away from things like that only to find it even worse over here.
Well 90% of my time was spent building a system, and while not complete, you are welcome to it.
It has all the fancy things I posted on here, cures off diagnose and has a small bunch of other triggers. I will leave it to you guys to fix the rest up.
Because of the sheer number of afflictions you have here, it got pretty laggy as I had it checking the cure aliases straight off prompt, so you would do well to maybe change that.

curingon will obviously do as it says (is currently disabled)
needs a full prompt (without arm balance)

Each organization has different views on that. Also, different guilds within each organization view call-to-arms differently as well. Someone in a Wiccan guild will have totally different expectations of them then someone in the Ur'guard/Paladins for instance.I encourage you to try another nation, or if you like your nation, a different guild within it, instead of leaving lusternia.
I didn’t stick with my first guild either, my main now was my second character.

That's a pity, I'd hoped you'd have stayed. And for the record, Zenji, she's been in all except Glom, as aquamancer, moondancer, and geomancer.

Actually, did you look at the targetting system Lusternia has built in?c is set for cast blast @tar
You can 'st t fink'
and then have an alias, like mine 'mt' to Moonburst &t and mt will attack the fink, 'st t cow' will effect all aliases with the &t in them.
I have moonburst, lash, waning, vines, and a few others hinged on that, a quick change, and no coding needed on my part. It's a nice little feature lusternia has.

O_o Only think I know moonies get asked to do is resurgem, and not so much not with free immolate either.Mage= "hold the demense!" though, I understand that.
Edit:Well, goodluck elsewhere then, sorry Lusti didn't work out for you.

That IS exceedingly lame : ( I'm sorry you ran into that. I certainly never saw it in the Serenwilde, except once in very recent times, and only one or two idiots did it.
Bah, you were interesting : (

Getting killed by your superiors in Magnagora can be a fact of life - I've done it myself and think that the roleplay of Magnagora is utterly lame and crippled if people in positions of power can't go ahead and kill people who are being idiots - But that is, when they're being idiots. It would be nice if we could, say, go ahead and force choke people who fail us, but that would lead to a hostile and dysfunctional environment - So death as a punishment is okay only in cases when someone is being ludicrously stupid (I've done it once when I was in Magnagora, despite having been faced with plenty of other opportunities). Since I'd like to think you're not the type who acts like a retard, I'm assuming you were killed for not defending or something of the sort - which makes the person responsible exceedingly lame. Wonder if any of the people who tried to castrate Magnagora's roleplay by putting more stringent policies against murder in place did anything...

OK, so seeing there is a little interest gathering here, I will tell you all exactly what happened.
I am sat alone in the library minding my own business getting on with writing the system up when all of a sudden somebody starts following me. I ignore it and put it down to someone being bored.
A few seconds later same person - PersonA says, "Take me to Earth, now, Apprentice."
I blink and say, You say, "It is usually seen as polite to ask before you begin to just randomly follow somebody."
I am slain for that, and that alone.
I then get called by a sec to say what happened, I tell them exactly that at which point I am told that regardless of how it was asked, it was I who was in the wrong for not doing what was asked immediately.
As soon as I hear with, you would not believe how quickly I just did SUICIDE;AGREE.
If that is how things work here, I really feel sorry for the people who would do well here. I am sure I am not the first person to quit like this and sadly, I feel I will not be the last.
For those that met me I am sure will back me up when I say I could have brought a lot of interesting RP and fun to the place, though because of the pig-headedness of a select few, that is not to be.

Yup, this is a retarded, idiotic example of what is horribly wrong with Lusternia. He didn't even try to roleplay it through, it seems. When I was a mage I just loved being seen by warriors as someone who is always willing to give them a piggyback ride to an Elemental plane.
Unknown2007-02-19 12:44:49
The unfortunate thing is that you were roleplaying someone new who expected common courtesy in a city that doesn't believe in it. There are other organizations that are far better suited to the more "polite" brand of roleplay, and you might truly enjoy playing the game as a different guild in a different city or commune. You shouldn't let one bad experience ruin your opinion of the entire game.
My first character on Achaea was abandoned after a few months of playing because I thought it would be fun to roleplay an evil dwarven knight, and it was anything but fun. I started over as a mage in a neutral city, and I loved it. I played that character for roughly three years before retiring and sticking with just Lusternia.

Yes he did. He was me. I've got a log somewhere.
One conglut death in the name of RP isn't that bad, dearie. Relish it! Remember, you aren't your character, and you shouldn't take the slights it receives personally. I've been in the reverse of that situation many a time, and I (do my best to) laugh and enjoy it!
I'm sorry that you're abandoning ship, and I hope you'll come back.

Inevitably, the evil dwarven knight RP is a fair walk away. You have to start as an unhappy evil downtrodden peon who looks forward to slowly climbing that ladder and lording it over his peons in the same way.. and that can be terrifically dull.

Sorry, Aiakon, but someone asking you to be civil isn't THAT bad, and certainly not worth losing a new player over. :/
Catarin2007-02-19 13:57:15
I understand Mag has this RP to uphold and all but honestly, this just seems extreme. If you're going to do that to a new player at least message them OOCly letting them know it's just the RP. Not everyone is going to just automatically embrace that or realize someone is playing a role.
We're trying to keep new players around, remember? This doesn't even seem like fun RP interaction, just bullying. Maybe I'm missing something.

Well.. yes. You're missing the log and thus the context of the entire event.
It wasn't bullying. But had it been bullying, it would have been part of RP interaction.

I'm not happy that we've lost a new player... but just possibly, she needs to have a little can of Murphy. We can't go pussyfooting around every newbie on the off chance that a harsh word/death will lead to them quiting. That way lies Serenwilde. Given how many newbies Glomdoring used to shed/sheds while attempting to keep its RP undiluted, I'm surprised to see criticism from you especially in the absence of any evidence whatsoever bar that above. Jeisha was -not- a novice, but a full member of the city.
I'm irritated that I'm going to have to hold the way I play Aiakon up to public scrutiny, especially when Aiakon is such an arsehole and he will be inevitably wholly identified with his player by a forum community which increasingly finds it difficult to differentiate between IC and OOC. However, when I get home, I promise to post the log, which I promise will exonerate me.
Edit: This just sunk in, so I thought I'd comment.

Unless I'm getting confused, I had already spoken to Jeisha about IC/OOC, in (I seem to remember) a friendly rather than authoritarian way, and we lamented about the general standard. But on the other hand, why on earth -wouldn't- people realise that we're playing a role? Your message-everyone-OOCly-if-you-want-to-do-anything theories, as already expounded on other threads, are frankly ridiculous.
Unknown2007-02-19 14:16:43
It's pretty much standard in Mag, just like glom/seren/celest have their standard practices, if there was someone breaking out of prescribed norms elsewhere they'd be deal with as well, perhaps killed perhaps not depending on the nation, but that is what mag does. Nihilists actually have some wonderful things built up around death, undeath, and a characters ability or lack thereof to lich. Glom has some nifty things dealing with how they view the 'coddling of the weak' as well.
Just don't be so quick to jump in and throttle Aiakon, this is most likely just a misunderstanding by someone who wasn't yet familiar with mags unique flavor.

Oh, you're completely right, and I'm not saying that something wasn't in order to emphasize your point. A quick death for it, however, seems excessive to me. If there was more, then fine. I'll await your log.
(I was more referring to the point that we usually try words / smaller things, which lead up to death only when necessary as a point. However, as it seems you're saying that it did work its way to that stage, I'll withhold further judgement.)

You seem awfully sure of your actions there. Make it sound like I was in the wrong now that I am gone, yes?
Firstly, the OOC conversation you refer to happened a day earlier and was -totally- unrelated.
So far as I am concerned as both the character at the time and me as a player, you are nothing short of a bully who preys on those weaker than you. You have a disgusting attitude, and using the name of RP to defend your actions is totally beyond me.
Do post the log and lets see what everybody else thinks.
The other thing that annoys me with this game, is had that have been Aetolia, you would have been ousted from City/Guild. Enemied to both my own guild included and hunted by other guild members.
Saying that I was not a novice is absolutely pathetic
I had been playing for 3 days. Spending 10 hours a day online mainly idling just writing up a system. I had absolutely no interaction except a few chats with people I know OOC'ly from other IRE games.
All this aside, I don't need to say anymore. Your actions speak for themselves and to be honest, I am glad I am away from people like you who do nothing but drive people away from the game and completely destroy their enjoyment.

It still sounds to me like you're taking it way too personally and perhaps blowing the whole thing out of proportion. It's been said that you've tried other organizations, but why then would you settle on one that roleplays contrary to your own style? Generally, the grief in Lusternia has decreased since the early days, but there I'm sure there are still a few that would go to extremes to cause other pain for their own enjoyment. I don't think Aiakon is one of them. Just my own opinion.

I mean, I can understand being a little upset at being killed for what you felt was an unjust reason, but don't you consider all this grandstanding about leaving and laying into Aiakon bit of an overreaction?
