Pretty much every Commune/City has Gods it forbids people from worshipping. One main reason is that They are the patron of enemy Communes/Cities. This can cause problems for people who choose a god after they choose a Commune/City. I had to jump ship on one Commune/City to its rival. My idea is that this should be easier to find out before you choose a Commune/City.

Notification, perhaps, though they do change from time to time, so I could see it becoming outdated. I remember the big to-do in the Seren after Hamajin-fade shouted to encourage celestians to take down the avatars of moon.
I would be against any coding being done to enforce the bans already in-place though, if someone wants to be sneaky, and try to make a fain worshiper in celest, they should be allowed to. There are already enough mortal checks against it anyway.

There have been cases of people being secret order members (ie. Visaeris as a Morgfyre order member in Celest, who was kicked out of Celest when people found out).

QFT. If you can't figure this out by the time you're in an order, you probably didn't do your homework.

I think maybe what Adodak meant is that, for new players, choosing a god is not part of character creation, so they have no idea who the options are when they pick a city/commune. It's possible for someone to join Serenwilde, for instance, and only after realizing that Shikari is the coolest patron for their character. Maybe the city/commune char-gen descriptions could have what gods you can worship, and ou would be able to access each one's help file?
Saran2007-02-26 00:46:50
That or just list them by org with available helps and a note that you may not be able to follow the god if you don't choose that org?

It'd make life easier!

Too much trouble - Those would change every five minutes.

It's not always obvious. Even Terentia's order apparently doesn't have anything against Shikari, here in Celest, but Celestines are still banned from joining it. Not that anyone can, really, at this point. But I wanted to way back when I found his tome under that waterfall.
Unknown2007-02-26 20:25:47
But generally speaking, choosing a god to follow isn't part of character creation - it should be influenced by your personality and such, and dealt with in game...

Some people do like to jump right into things, and join an order as soon as possible, as interacting with gods is one of the most interesting things about IRE games.
Still, it looks like this might be more hassle then it's worth, the player governments are very slow to do anything. Speaking about that, the justice pillars, which leaders have the power to update, are they still unused?

What the hell is a justice pillar?
Daganev2007-02-27 01:40:46
Glomdoring is the only place not using the justice pillar, and for good reason

A place outside the bounds of a nation and its members that other people in the basin can view that nation's laws, the Pillars are at the seal of justice on Avechna’s Peak.Or rather they would be if the nations got cracking.
Shiri2007-02-27 02:36:38
Heh. Serenwilde didn't have theirs up for decades...it turned out I was one of only 2 of the 5 TMC members that actually knew what they were. No one cares about the silly things.
Shamarah2007-02-27 02:53:01
I remember when those opened and no one could figure out how to write on them.
... speaking of that, how DO you write on them?

A letter and 1000 gold, I believe. And a Patron with time on their hands.
Not really worth it.

Isn't that just like the leaves in the ancient forest of Serenwilde?

I love how you need patrons to do everything in this game...
Oh, and again, people should be able to go and join banned orders if they're smart enough not to get caught. In fact, I personally think it shouldn't be possible to tune a totem against anything that doesn't show on someone's honours.
