A simple alias for those of us without a distance ability that has to rely solely on the WHO list with thirdeye:
#alias {farsee} {#trigger {Type MORE} {more};who;#wait 400;#untrigger {Type More};#echo ~ ;#echo Target located at~:;#sc %1 1 1}
When you do "Farsee" you get:
Target located at:
Trooper Cahur, Charge of Lokinov (Centre of the Necropolis)
Enjoy.
#alias {farsee} {#trigger {Type MORE} {more};who;#wait 400;#untrigger {Type More};#echo ~ ;#echo Target located at~:;#sc %1 1 1}
When you do "Farsee
Target located at:
Trooper Cahur, Charge of Lokinov (Centre of the Necropolis)
Enjoy.

This alias works for you? I'm amazed.
Cahur2007-04-02 17:03:33
Yes, it does work. And while I could use highlighting, I still have to scroll the entire WHO list, this way, I don't have to read any of it.
Unknown2007-04-02 17:42:08
Even though the #TRIGGER/#UNTRIGGER could be done better with a trigger ID, the #WAIT is not recommended, and the #ECHO could be done in one line, you've just educated me on the use of the #SCROLL command.
Cahur2007-04-02 21:56:53
Personal preference, I guess. I usually use #ALARM instead of #WAIT, but this was literally a 5 second 'You mean I don't get farsight? Fine!' quick fix.
Arix2007-04-02 22:00:23
does this work for nexus?
Cahur2007-04-02 22:19:10
Nope, sorry. No #SC function in Nexus
Daganev2007-04-02 22:58:03
neat, much more effecient than my #gag method.
Sylphas2007-04-02 23:53:24
Why not just use #TEMP? Am I missing something?
Ayridion2007-04-03 00:13:44
If the WHO list goes onto more than two pages, it won't show everyone.
Sylphas2007-04-03 00:22:23
ah, true.
Unknown2007-04-03 04:19:20
Pardon my ignorance but what is the #scroll command?
Cahur2007-04-03 04:55:02
SCROLL
Syntax: #SC pattern
Displays all lines in the scrollback buffer that match the specified pattern. If you do not specify how many lines to display, zMUD displays all matching lines. If the Direction is omitted or set to zero, it starts at the beginning of the scrollback buffer and displays the oldest matching line first. If a Direction of 1 (or non-zero) is given, it starts with the most recent text and goes backwards.
SCROLL example
#SC Zugg
Displays every line in the scrollback buffer that contains the string "Zugg"
#SC Zugg 4
Displays the first 4 lines in the scrollback buffer that contains the word "Zugg"
#SC Zugg 4 1
Displays the last 4 lines in the scrollback buffer that contains the word "Zugg"

Its ok I guess but still spams the whole damn list, and if there is more than 2 pages and they aren't on the first page guess it may not work? But he is right it is a cheap man's farsee. And the person you are looking for will not know it, unlike scry, which will alert them.

Increase the wait. #wait 400 is particularly fast, I had to slow it down to 1200 to get it checking the entire list.
Gwylifar2007-04-03 13:44:06
Here's an approach to avoid the wait and the more trigger entirely, and become resistant to lag:
#alias {farsee} {#temp {^Your current pagelength~: 40} {#echo ~ ;#echo Target located at~:;#sc %1 1 1};config pagelength 250;who;config pagelength 40}
With a bit more complexity you can make it capture your current pagelength and restore that instead of hardcoding your "40" (or whatever you use), but it's hardly worth it, most people's pagelength never changes. Also, if your plane ever has 251+ people on it, you won't see the last few... don't think that's likely to happen.

Cahur2007-04-03 21:55:57
Yea, increase the wait. I actually increased it on mine after hitting a longer who list. I just don't like temp triggers, period, and avoid them like the plague. As for the spamming... yea, you just get used to it. You can't really gag it, though I had debated trying to figure out a way to capture the lines, but decided it was too much work and I can deal with a second or two of spam.
Unknown2007-04-03 22:31:09
The other problem with this sort of WHO checking is that some names show up in others' titles and you might get the wrong person.
Cahur2007-04-04 00:44:50
True, but if that happens, you could easily do a second version called 'farseeall' and take off the last '1' and get all references, though that could be really spammy. Maybe a 4.
