I've never used a banner in a signature before, but I'm trying to do that here and it won't work. I made a banner, saved it as a gif file, and had someone upload it to a URL for me. I then used the URL (from photobucket) for my signature here. It appeared to update successfully, but then when I made a post, it didn't show up at all. Anyone have advice?

There appears to be one in your signature.

*blink* Really? I wonder why I can't see it, then...

Probably for the same reason that I can't see your signature banner. Have a look at 'My Controls' -> 'Board Settings' -> 'Do you wish to view members signatures when reading topics?'

It was already set to view signatures, and I can see other people's, just not my own.

Weird. Maybe you're just blocking your own image with your browser then. Dunno. Heh.

Yep, it shows up fine on IE, but not on Firefox. Thanks for the help. (I'm not as dumb as I must look, I promise!)

Hm. I use Firefox, and I can see your signature banner.

It's showing up to me on Firefox-- must be a firefox setting you've checked/unchecked.

For starters, I would suggest looking in your AdBlock list, which using Firefox I am moderately sure you are using. It is probably a slightly overzealous filter, in which case all you need to do is add a whitelist exception (put @@ at the beginning of a new filter with the rest of the filter being the site that is hosting it).

Ooookay. Last night it worked fine on IE. Then I upgraded my IE to version 7.0, and now it's not working.
I feel old. I used to be good at this tech stuff.

Have you emptied your cache recently? Sometimes when that gets a bit full it'll start causing problems with browsers. Not too sure about the banner showing up, but it's always good to clear you cache anyways. With high speed internet, it's not as important as it used to be anyways to cache pages so they load faster.

Tried that. Still not working.
It's okay, as long as you guys can see it I guess. I'll figure something out. Thanks for all the help.

I also discovered that using different skins yields different results. Some won't show the signature at all. Some will show it on some of my posts but not others. And some will show it all the time. I can't figure out an explanation but at least I know what works; I now have a signature-friendly skin.
