You don't have to be asleep for all of dreamweaving stuff to work. Puncture, which has a VERY fast rebalance (like .5 seconds I think), lets you flick motes at them and is a delayed reishi cure, so you can usually get 2 off even if they're good about curing it. Mote infusing your demesne with memoryloss is just plain nasty regardless of the mage/druid type. Sleepmist has been advertised already, and it's good if the enemy is planning on trying to slog through your meld. Coalesce is great for bypassing village defenses.

Don't know the effects of DeepSleep on supramortals or above though since I haven't played around with it enough... does it even affect them since they "don't need sleep"?

If it causes tiredness, yes. People above level 80 don't get hungry or tired -naturally-, but it can still be taken down through Geomancer fumes, Cacophony songs, Spiritsinger songs, Dreamweaver things, etc.

While this thread is around, I want to hijack it.

Has anyone ever tried a tae'dae telepath? They seem like they would suck for hunting, but pretty nice for combat and influence. They're super-tanky, and telepathy balance shouldn't be affected by their penalties.

Anyone have any thoughts on how viable the combo would be?

I think it is, but I could've just been imagining things.

Mythbusters? Does the tae'dae balance/eq penalty also apply to psionics channels?

I suppose I could just make a tae'dae mage and find out, but that's a lot of extra time to waste if someone already knows.
Ashteru2007-04-06 22:16:07
nope, since they are on seperate balance.

Okay, now I'm second-guessing. Time to join the ranks of those poor people who constantly ask 'What should I do?'

I'm getting ready to switch to telepathy, and can't decide on a race. Tae'dae look nice, for sheer tankiness and high charisma (17 con, 15 charisma, and level 3 faster elixir healing, but only 9 int). They suck at hunting, though, so I may be stuck at level 78 forever unless some new influence areas come out. I could also go with Human. I think I'd have somewhere around 13-14 con, 13-14 int, but only 12 charisma. I do have a throne and netzach, which will boost that up a bit, and would probably get a knowledge blessing, so hunting would be much easier, but charisma still wouldn't be great, and they can't take nearly the beating that tae'dae can.

How important is high charisma for telepathy? Anyone have any advice which race might be better?

Except it doesn't really matter what race you go for psionics because you can stack a decent amount of ego with virtually any race through buffs. That being said, Furrikin's ego can easily match a fully buffed Igasho warrior's health without too much trying.

Well, part of the issue is just that I'm not sure how important high charisma is for telepaths. For telekinetics, it's well worth it to get very high charisma (which is why I'm currently a faeling; it makes forcefield godly, but I suck in actual combat). For telepaths, I'm not sure if it's worth it to go for the higher charisma and tankiness of the tae'dae, or if charisma is mostly unimportant and I should go with a more intelligent race instead. Lucidian might also be a good option, if charisma isn't all that important (only 11 cha, but 14 int and con, daytime regeneration, and resistances are nice).

EDIT:
For that mater, Master Viscanti may actually be nice. 11 str, 8 dex, 14 con, 15 int, and 12 cha. Looks better than humans around my level, except for the sip penalty, and the lack of the experience bonus.
