Occurrences.

Just to note, while it may be completely to possible to 'win' these events quickly by using a completely dominating emote, that might not prove to be as much fun as experimenting and having free reciprocation, so feel free to use your imagination when making conclusions. No point 'metagaming' these RP scenarios! (Though I don't presume to accuse that you will.) I'll admit I hadn't actually thought of using a pooka to get the monk under control, and felt it was really quite clever.

Sounds exciting. It should help to foster greater inter-organisational roleplay, too, which is never a bad thing.

I totally agree. Flames high to Ayridion and the other Divine. The way you describe "occurrences" is exactly the sort of thing I very much want to see! Keep it up keep it up....

Oooh, this sounds great, curse my holiday that made me miss it.

The awful thing is that there are so many things that have been released in the past short while that would have been heaps better if they'd had an Occurrence attached. (e.g. Thornlash, Constructs, Colossi, Aethercraft specs.) I hope Occurrences can be used for things like major ability changes, new skills, implementation of small things that don't deserve a full event.

EDIT: I've just had an idea. How about, when more constructs are released, there is a little worldwide or org-specific Occurrence (depending on the nature of the construct.) This would save us having to RP around the sudden ability to build them appearing without warning.

Like pretty much everyone else, I think this is great. Much kudos to the Divines and specifically Ayridion.

Just out of curiosity (and sorry for the semi-necro) how exactly did Shamarah emote ORDER POOKA KIL MONK? The only way I can think of seems a little contrived "Shamarah quietly urges his pooka to subdue the bloodthirsty monk"?
Ayridion2007-05-17 09:28:14
It was of a similar calibre to that, though I forget exactly. Given the fact it was the first, I was willing to make the exception for it being a little unusual-looking.

As a note, I've pinned this topic. Feel free to stick up suggestions, I've had a few so far, but more will never hurt.

If I recall correctly, I nudged my pooka and told it to control the monk.

Could anyone post knowledge of other occurrences that have happened? I haven't heard of/witnessed any since the first one sad.gif
Ayridion2007-05-17 17:37:27
Alas, their visibility because of other work (can you guess what that might have been?), though it's allowed me to create a fairly extensive pile of them which can now start to be chipped away at.

As to the other Occurrence, I'm surprised you've forgotten about Marani already!

I was mildly hoping they could be posted about here whenever one happens, as there aren't events posts for them due to their usually smaller scale.

Just the kind of thing I was hoping to see. smile.gif

Sounds like they've been keeping ya busy working on the big stuff.

I've been busy with work stuff and haven't had much time to be in the game, but I'm gonna send try to send you 3-4 dozen ideas I have for possible occurances.

At the request of some people, I'll be updating this post to contain a list of occurrences when they've been completed. I'll only include vague details.

---

1) A loboshigaru monk wished to tear everyone limb-from-limb. (Completed: 6th April, 2007.)

2) Marani released hordes of undead beauties in order to try to overtake the cosmic planes. (Completed: 14th April, 2007.)

3) A small beggar in Celest took things to extremes, eventually disappearing without a trace. (Completed: 27th April, 2007.)

4) A kephera trainer comes up from below to reside in Serenwilde and train them as monks. (Completed: 17th May, 2007.)

5) Osierti holds a class with Serenwilde to develop how to punch/kick/hold. To my amusement, that's not how it quite ended up... <3 (Completed: 1st June, 2007.)

6) A rogue imp stole a device from Nifilhema to attack Serenwilde and their fae. (Completed: 21st June, 2007.)
