I'm curious on people's thoughts on bardic dodging. Kaervas has 24 dex, trans acrobatics and a TF at the moment so this is the high end of the spectrum in regards to dodging assuming dex affects it at all.

Weird, none of that is bolding for you. Or it wasn't.. now I don't know what's going on.

The last bit was the only bit to get bolding, and didn't seem much. However, against a Warrior I can see the problem as they already miss. Dodging seems to be only one of those things that get nasty when people with really high Dex get in a fight, while annoying the rest.

I think you should try that with a non warrior too. When I attacked you in Faethorn you somehow dodged at least three moonbursts in a row. Overall you seemed to dodge me almost 50% of the time, but I only got a few tries at you so it might have been a fluke. Try it out please.

Lower level acrobatics, dodging is near impossible, sadly.

Were you in leather or robes? Just by scrolling down and not reading it all through, you did seem to dodge a fair bit.

Well personally I think that even if you dodge just a few times it can turn out very powerful. Many classes depend on combos that are time sensitive (getting aeon to stick for example) so if you just dodge one attack and the person has to wait to regain balance.. the few seconds can be enough for you to heal up enough (which if it happens several times in a row screws them).

EDIT: Actually.. can you miss with things like inquisition or crucify / sacrifice? Does it still cost power if you do?.. I don't want to imagine what would happen to my lovely hex combos if a doublewhammy was dodged..

It can dodge anything that's targetted to you specifically I believe, and it shouldn't cost power if it's dodged. So it could dodge something like web or a hex being thrown at you but not demesne, fae, walking into a hex etc.

It doesn't consume expendables as far as I know, and it knocks off eq but I'm not sure exactly how much and how it varies.

I only have a short log with handstand, I'll have to do more testing with that later. Handstand costs 3 power and most actions will cause it to drop, curing for example. Handstand doesn't increase acrobatics dodging, it's basically an anti-warrior thing.

Honestly, I have noticed that I hit a little bit more on bards now. Not positive because I haven't done lots of tests on it. But Kaerv. Try it with an AL or PB to, remember the only get one swing. Then try it with moonies, or druids, or something. Let us know what you find out. And of course I am assuming you are trans acrobatics by now too smile.gif

Oh one more thing, was Ashteru only using swing attacks? Because that could make a difference too, if he was using target specific attacks or hack downs, hack ups, swipe left, etc.

Ashteru missed about 26 times due to dodging, as far as I count and I may be off, but there are times that you get an extremely good run where you're dodging everything and then there are times that you're not dodging at all.

As Aesyra said, you should get a log of a non-warrior to show the differences between them and how each effects dodging.

So far, this seems like something highly annoying and troubling to a warrior (but that's just a lot of how they work anyways..). But again, if your stats are effected due to the boosts you may get as a Demi-God, would it be possible if a normal trans Acrobat could do tests with this as well?

This is the first of a few tests I'll be doing in time. I also forgot to mention that Kaer has a TF as well, and yes he's trans acrobatics. My tests are mainly to demonstrate how dodging is at the highest end of the spectrum, not sure how many bards are around that have trans acrobatics.

Also, yeah, it was a bit annoying. But it really only mattered in that I sometimes missed the follow-up hit I need for Crushedchest which requires brokenchest. Otherwise, he couldn't outpace wounds, he had a hard time handling the damage (well, relatively) and so...not that bothersome for me.

I really would like to see Commune bards get something decent. More complimentary skills to ecology or something, since they don't get tarot.

I asked Kaerv, and he said the only thing they get that seems to compliment ecology in Harbringers is Venomdrops. I mean commune bards really have it bad, not having tarot.

And I am sure I will be corrected on this, but weren't gypsies one of the first to use tarot cards? And didnt they seem to travel more or less in the backwoods, setting up gypsie communes? If so why is it only a city skill. >.> (Now you historians correct me too, cuz I know I am probably wrong, but it is how I see tarot.)
