Umm no Fail. Bashing is good, gold is good. Isn't that the whole reason you all want a perma rift to 3rd level of catcombs? Isn't that your argument? You want to get to a place with good bashing and good gold without having to do jack to get there. Why not Spirit World too? One easy way to fix complaining about honors line..... remove it. Or, make it so you can't complete the quest unless you have the first half done. So, other than some honors quest problem....... any other things?

Spirit world is kinda crap for bashing though. Not enough mobs.

Actually people 70-85 will get decent exp there, compared to you per say, and the gold is about 150-200 a drop right? mobs are decent I think for the mid to high range people. That and my main reason is, hell I like to bash there, but I do the whole quest to get there, people like to bash gars, but they feel they have the right not to have to do any quest to get there. So make Spirit World accessable, and Forren and I had a little talk about it too. Only thing we both thought was negative about it, was people just doing the end of the blessing quest, and that would be a simple solve (i think coding wise)

You cannot do the last part of the Tosha quest without getting all 4 blessings from the Masters.

It is good that you feel people should have to do the entire quest in order to access the lower level of the catacombs for hunting. I am glad that Celest destroying the long standing Magnagoran rift there provided you the opportunity to make this position so clear. It is assumed that you will be taking as active an OOC stance against Magnagora attempting to build and control rifts to the catacombs in the future which will hopefully bring about the peaceful, bashing ground accessible only through quests you are hoping for.

I have no objections to the catacombs being accessible only through the quest. But as long as the world and their dog can go through the public rift and then distort it, while the cata quest doesn't work properly, I'm going to be wanting a secondary rift in from Mag.

Am I the only person around who can bash Astral, but can't handle catas? If it were only one gar at a time, I'd have no problem, but they always come in swarms. I've never actually survived a cata run, and have to get all of my experience from astral. Am I missing some special secret here?

When I was a Mage, I was getting owned in the Catas at level 83 and watching Ur'Guard have a happy time bashing away while ten levels my junior.
Shamarah2007-04-24 22:58:20
I can handle the bottom levels of the catas fine if I'm careful, and I'm a level 81 mugwump.

Last time I was in the catas it was pretty much like this:

Ashteru: Hahaha, glance northeast.
GLANCE NE
You see 9 gardead here.
Me: Umm...
Ashteru: You stay here, I'll go take them on alone.
*2 minutes later*
Ashteru enters from the northeast.
Ashteru: Ha! I barely had to sip!

Wow, and the gardead hit me for ~900.
Lysandus2007-04-24 23:53:36
they're deadly in groups, I can handle sometimes two or three of them at once but four or more get's risky, especially if garwights will keep using their crit hit against me.

*cough* really wish you can see who's beyond the rift so I won't transverse to what... 5 garwights in one room. >.>

Uh, yeah, I think so. Astral isn't nearly as bad. The gars don't move around that fast, but they do move around, so if you've killed all the ones that have split from the groups just wait a bit and there should be more that split. Also, for the smaller groups, you can separate the garghasts, since they track. I honestly don't understand how people have so much trouble in the Catacombs.

If you're transversing to a group that's your fault for putting the rift where you did. They tend to group on the east side while the west side and rooms one away from Korath stay relatively empty.

I find Astral much easier than Cats.

catacombs easier than linked
if you can sprint it's simple. there is always one room where there's just one gar. if something walks in when you fight just leave and find another room with one gar.

Easy to say. With drawdown, you could out-tank me when I was a faeling with forcefield (with throne/etc).

Whenever I try walking around, I end up in bigger groups. My problem is usually that I can't easily tank the catas or linked astral creatures (some I can), but there's a lot more freedom to move around a lot on astral. I can move one room away, and take a second to heal up before they track. Catas, when I try to do that, I end up in the middle of another group.
Ashteru2007-04-25 15:48:08
Really, catas aren't that hard. And mostly only garshades follow, which aren't that nasty except for breaking bones.
I usually just start with clearing out the room I transverse in, then I work around and if I need to run, I move back to the room I came from.
Rakor2007-04-26 10:39:53
There's a simple solution to running into groups - don't do it. Just squint to see which areas are clear, and if more come in while you're fighting, move out into a safe room. There should never be a time when you're completely surrounded.

I think people are overestimating the Catas.

You can do that, but then they either follow you, walk the same way as you by coincidence, or you end up waiting ages for the sods to unbunch again.
Ixion2007-04-26 23:06:14
You could do catacombs with 2500-3000 health... it's really not that hard.

Maybe with fullplate, but cloth-wearers are a bit more fragile.
