I've seen how Gloms go after villages. It shows that no one cares if they win.
Edit - I think Reiha has it right by bringing up population. I don't see much changing until more new people start sticking around.

You can't fight anyone in either city because of treaties and you don't go after villages, culture is about the only thing that Glomdoring does to compete with anyone.
You got it. The fact that Glomdoring now raids Serenwilde is a big step forward in terms of choosing to compete with other nations in any arena other than culture. A big step forward, one might say, in actually playing the same game as everyone else.

Depends on the village and who's around. If we've got a shot at it, there's quite a bit of energy thrown into the whole thing. If there's not much of a chance-- there's less. But, frankly, I've seen that attitude from every org-- like Serenwilde in Stewarts just yesterday.
Anarias2007-04-22 20:15:56
I didn't get a chance to see much of that one but yeah, Serenwilde has definitely been phoning it in for a while when it comes to vill.. stuff generally.

The next powerhouse will probably be Glomdoring, if they get a few more players (at least a dozen regulars in addition to the current ones).
Yep! Now's the time to get involved on the ground floor of this amazing opportunity.
Furien2007-04-22 21:06:29
Personally, I can't make good guesses because most conflicts really revolve around how many people the organization has at that time, the skill of those people, the level of those people, the training of those people, and the artifacts of those people. With that in mind, it shifts..a lot.

I'd be concerned about what kind of message that sends regular folk in the commune. It may be reasonable and rational to say that villages aren't worth going after but then what else are you doing?
You can't fight anyone in either city because of treaties and you don't go after villages, culture is about the only thing that Glomdoring does to compete with anyone. If I were a new player I'd get the message that Glomdoring doesn't care about anything and if I was interested in involving myself in more aspects of the game I'd want to go elsewhere.

Why do you think so many high-level people are in Glom?

Because they have nothing better to do than bash and because Glom has an lovely op class?
.. Bashing sure gets boring after a while though, and participating in large scale raids can be very addictive.

...yes, that's why I quoted Anarias quote about not having anything to do.
And shh, nothing op. Seren and Glom mirror each others skill.

Glomdoring just sucks at influence at the present time for a variety of reasons, including smaller population and lower average communerank.
However, in my opinion the current power levels of the orgs in Lusternia are...
Celest > Glomdoring > Magnagora > Serenwilde
... so don't judge how strong a nation is based on how many villages it has.

If I knew how to get some durned commune favours, I would be all over that like white on rice. Glomdorians seem fairly stingy with commune favours though. I know how to get guildfavours easy though!

You just need to actively do things instead of staying bummed out. I ended up getting CR3 before moving beyond GR1 myself, and I didn't even pester anyone about commune favours.
Daganev2007-04-23 01:56:56
How cute... I remember the threads of people complaining that glomdoring had too many people with cr6 and that they were "gaming" the system...
Lucan, thats just because I put in a lot of effort to figure out exactly what people can do to get Guildfavours. I decided to take a lesson from Estarra's basic gameplan and make objective goals. Sadly, there isn't a good method to do that with the commune on the whole though.

Becoming GM will erase your worries about guild rank and commune rank!
Or you could defend the Nest, raid EtherWilde, help with village revolts (will never happen because they are timed to occur when you are not around), organize a weeviling contest for the commune newbies, become an aide and do super good work... the possibilities are endless! Just kidding, but you do have some options.

Nearly all my commune favors have come from defending during raids.
The rest are from my sparkly, sunshiney IC personality.

I've been saying that Glom has a lot of potential and could become very powerful in the times to come. But then they go ahead and shoot themselves in the foot. At least, by my opinion.

Um.. wiccans? Oh and how would you compare Stag and Crow? Gore against Swoop? It makes me want to weep..
EDIT: @Nico: I agree, however if they want to be strong it would mean having more people. And with a larger population comes a certain loss of control over it. I can imagine that Glomdoring is in a way 'afraid' of that, since utter control is part of their RP too.

People keep saying Glom is going to be the next powerhouse...
*cough*
I'll believe it when I see it.

Serenwilde isn't exactly making much progress, having to aide cities to 'get ahead'.
At least Glom is standing on its own two feet; add that with some more active players and turn them into fighters, and I dare say Glomdoring is going to be the next powerhouse of Lusternia.
