Matt's turning all dark side of the force with his power too. Tsk.
It's kind of funny... Hiro decided not to abuse his power because he wanted to be more like his dad... to honor his dad cause he loves him. Matt is abusing his power and becoming just like his dad, even though he professes to despise his dad. Ah irony.

Last night's episode was really, really good though. I can't believe there's only two episodes left.

Was that Adam or the Company that brought Noah back? The room he woke up in seemed a bit more funky than the Company facilities we've been seeing, and I'm not sure why Bob would want to risk bringing him back. Adam, on the other hand, would have tons to gain.
And I'm actually really curious about whether its Adam or Bob that will release the virus. They're setting it up to make it seem like it could be either or. Bob is playing with it, but Adam knows he's immune--however, in the future that Peter visited, Adam wasn't revealed as holding some supreme position of power, so it makes me lean towards Bob.
Also, Matt's new ability kinda makes Eden looked pretty sad. And if all of the Hero's powers seem to be able to develop, I wonder what Flight would result in? Is Flight some sort of gravity-control or is it simply a different early-manifestation of Telekinesis, or something all together different that might develop in some interesting way?

I think you're reading too much into that. I don't think the room was particularly more or less funky than the other company rooms, except for having a lick of blue paint, and that hardly counts for much. I think it's also implied that it's the company that's bringing Noah back. They've been shown to have an IV thing of healing blood, and besides, he was a good agent, in his day, and maybe they want to try and bring him back into the fold. Or at the very least, keep him where he can't do them much harm.
Also, immunity wouldn't necessarily put Adam in a supreme position of power. There were other survivors, and everyone knew they existed. Being another one of them wouldn't make him particularly special. Also, how would Adam even get access to a contained version of the virus?
And there isn't really any implication that all powers have to "level up", as it were. I'd say chances are it's just a finer level of control over the abilities.
And Matt's getting really desperate.
EDIT: Also, we still haven't found out what Kaito or Angela's powers are. I sort of expected us to at least discover what Kaito's was, given that we saw a lot of him this episode.
EDIT II: Also, It seems like Noah recognised where he was, making it even more likely that he was brought back by the company, as there's nothing to say that he would recognise wherever Adam brought him to. Also, how would Adam even be able to get his hands on an IV system?

Yeah, he did get it and that's her.
Bad Matt!

Why would you bring Noah back though? There's no way he'd work for the Company again. He saw what they did to Elle, and we've seen how Elle turned out. Hell, he even watched them sucker Mohinder in--one of the only people he trusted, who then proceeded to shoot him in the eye. I'd say that if you want to keep a guy where he can do the least harm to you, that the grave is the best possible place for that.
Also, I wonder if there's a time-limit on the blood IV regen thing? Cause, it would seem like if it was the company, and they just wanted to keep him "in case" you could drop him into some primitive cryo to keep his cells from degenerating and then pump him full of super-blood at some point down the line.
As for how it would place Adam into a position of supreme power..uh..hello? His blood can cure the virus. "So, you want to live? Just swear loyalty to me and move into this nice upkept city and serve me." ala Ultraviolet or Aeon Flux scenarios. Not to mention he could pretty easily come across as the Messiah to many desperate people, what with his immortality and the fact that his blood can heal a virus that has wiped out the entire planet. "drink of my blood and you shall find salvation" and all that jazz.

Matt/Matts!Daddy, Sylar, Peter, Claire/Adam, Hiro, and Telekinesis!Guy all have powers that have "leveled up". It may simply be a matter of control, however, it really does depend on what they're controlling. For example, what causes the flight? And could better control of that mechanic lead to further abilities?
Some examples:
ElectricElle - Yeah, she can shoot bolts of lightning, but what if she could fine-tune that to the point where she can more specifically manipulate the electrons in the air? She could, theoretically, imitate Pyro/Cryo-kinesis by either speeding up or slowing them down. She could duplicate that one dude's ability to melt objects by breaking the bonds between atoms. She could do Magneto-esque things.
Telekensis - This power, when "levelled up" would be virtually identical to ElectricElle.
Regeneration - If all cells regenerate, the result would be super strength, super speed, super hearing, super eye-sight, super sensation. Super lots of things.
Super Hearing - Could be levelled up to a sort of precognition; you could hear the very muscle fibers begin to tense in someone, and know exactly what physical movement they were going to perform. You could hear the air around you move and everything else and essentially have a sort of Matrix Bullet-Time existence, where if you learned to key-in the precursors of events, you could react instantly. Not only that, but you'd probably have incredible balance and reflexes as well once you learned to identify the sounds you were hearing and what they meant.
Super-strength - Only way to really have super-strength is to have indestructible muscle fibers, and if you have that, then you'd be insanely hard to kill, given that most of your internal organs are protected by a layer of muscle. Only a few major arteries would be exposed, and your brain. Other than that, you'd essentially be able to take bullets to body and majority of the face all day long. Sure, you'd get torn up, but unless one of those few exposed arteries is struck, you aren't going to bleed to death very soon, and you aren't going to lose any strength really given your muscles and everything covered by them won't be damaged.
So yeah, while not every power has to level up, I can't think of a single power that doesn't have the potential to be turned up a few dozen notches.

I'm pretty sure Mohinder was the one who decided to have Noah brought back using the blood, I mean, I don't know about you, but I'd feel immensely guilty about shooting a 'friend' in the eyeball.
I'd have wanted to see Kaito's and Angela's powers as well, but I'm happy assuming they resemble their children's somehow. Though, Matt's power is suddenly getting better and better.
I'm most interested in seeing an epic Hiro vs. Peter duel though. And Sylar's story.

Regarding an earlier point made in this thread, I don't see why people can't just use force to extract Adam's blood from him. Assuming he can't kill himself, there's very little to stop people (desperate to remain safe from the virus) from just restraining him and extracting his blood - cellular regeneration = limitless quantities of blood.
Hiro's abilities brings up two interesting points:
1. If Adam had found Hiro in the present during the whole Sylar-fiasco, would Adam have slain Hiro for stealing his girlfriend all those years ago? It happened in the past, so you would assume Hiro had already visited Japan during the 'Takezo Kensei' era, thus Adam knowing Hiro already. Also, if Adam had indeed killed Hiro in the present (but before Hiro travels to 1600's Japan), would Hiro not have travelled back to the past at all, resulting in Adam not having a hate for him and...Hiro remaining alive?
2. The final fight between Peter and Hiro will be really, really lame. Unless one can 'restart' time when the other has stopped it.

In Heroes time travel doesn't work like that.
Time travel is based on the idea of threads and alternate realities. His teleportation for example is a manner of folding spacetime, not just stopping time and walking to where he wants to go.
So no, Adam did not know Hiro until Hiro time traveled and met Adam. This sort of time travel is explained in the episode 4 years later I think.

Depends on how things are done. If he's viewed as the Messiah, then there's superstition backing him up. But there's also the possibility of just not advertising that its his blood, but rather some sort of synthetic blood-like substance that will destroy the virus, so there's no point in attacking him for it. Beyond that, its already been shown that he's persuasive and charismatic--something he obviously learned in the 400 years since we last saw him, given that he managed to get NightmareMan to help him, and swayed Peter, so he's likely to have a bodyguard to Heroes who he could essentially establish as the upper echelon of his new society.
And as for Peter/Hiro, there is no way Hiro an beat Peter once Peter knows Hiro is there. Peter now has the Haitian Sensation's ability to block powers, which pretty much hands the fight to Peter on a silver platter. Though, I don't think it will come down to a fight. Hiro sneaks up on him, it would be my guess, because he sees Peter with Adam. But Hiro trusts Peter, and Peter trusts Hiro, so it'll be more likely a battle of appeals than anything else. "He saved my brother!" "He killed my father!" sort of thing.
Now the only question is how much has Adam grown up in the past few hundred years? I mean, does he actually still hold the grudge? I mean, realistically, I don't know if its possible for a single intelligent person to hold a grudge like that for 400 years. Sooner or later his Princess was going to die, or he would have fallen out of love with her. And that's the problem with having a suave, intelligent villain who is ancient and holding a grudge...he should have sorted it all out years ago, especially given how much stuff he must have gone through afterwards.

I totally agree with you. He shouldn't have survived the first season. I actually went 'Aww, come on' when they showed us that sewer grate.
Noola2007-11-27 05:16:07
Peter is such an idiot. I love him, but he ain't smart. I mean... maybe one might just oughta think about why everyone, including someone who helped figure out how to keep you from blowing up New York not so long ago, seems to want to kill your new friend.
And Matt makes me mad too. He's off stealing people's free will and forcing them to give up secrets and tracking down that Pratt lady when he shoulda been home with Molly.
And poor dumb Maya!
Oh! And I really don't trust West. Something about how he asked if Claire planned on putting that wind-chime in the window just struck me as odd.

I don't distrust West so much. What else would you do with a windchime? He was just surprised Claire thought that would do anything, and I would be too. The main question is how he knew Claire had superpowers before watching her cut her toe off. (I think he did, anyway.) Maya annoys me with her naievete though.
Also, Hiro's battlecry is the most annoying sound I've heard all week.

I dunno. Seemed to me a better question for someone who had no previous knowledge would be "What're you going to do with that?" or "How do you know he'll see it?" or something. But maybe I only think that cause I haven't trusted West from the beginning so I look for reasons to not trust him.

I can't remember who, but a few weeks ago, I was reading about people wanting a Hiro vs Peter battle.
Looks like the writers put that in for them.
Oh and this weeks comic is good to. Very American.

Also, they are making an online only version of heros, tied together with sprint, you can help create the powers of the new hero.
