And why exactly did Peter take Sylar's ability if he absorbs the powers automagically anyway? He never seemed like a murderer type and he's been warned about the price. Knowing how exactly the ability works from the start sure is an advantage, but still. Killing people now?
It wasn't so much the ability to take powers, as the ability to see how they worked. To put the pieces together. That's why he went, because future Mohinder told him that with Sylar's power he'd be able to put all the pieces together. Peter didn't pay attention to Sylar's warning about how the power affects the mind, making it go all Gorgulu and wanting more and more. He clearly dismissed the danger in the face of what he thought was a greater danger... and of course, that was a dumb move cause Peter is really dumb and has been from the beginning.

I could see him stfuYATTAing someone though. On accident.

To build on what Noodles said,
Sylar's ability extends beyond just understanding how -powers- work, but other things too. Case in point, watches. He can look at a watch and see how everything is integrated and what makes it "tick", so to speak. One could then make the logical assumption that said ability of insight extends to seeing how events are connected and being able to make logical conclusions from what you know.
Oh, and I was royally weirded out by
SYLAR BEING A DADDY!?
I know it's old news, but still! Diamondais2008-10-15 22:04:56

I bet waffles are somehow the key to everything.

Hiro stabbing Ando makes no sense. Actually everything those two ever do doesn't make sense, but this one deserves a special 'wtf'.
Sylar seems to be the most interesting character atm.

Agreed on both counts. Although "everything" is a little harsh.
Also they better have a good explanation for why the power to understand things also involves wanting to eat them.

Dear. This thread looks like I work as a spy for the CIA and tried to send a letter back home.

I thought they already explained that it was the hunger to see how things work, that forces them to pop off heads to take a close examination of what's going on inside. A hunger for knowledge, not a physical hunger.

Maybe they did. Doesn't make a difference. Especially when it's portrayed as being that level of uncontrollable.
EDIT: Oh, I see, you took me literally. I was being facetious.

Just got done watching season 1. Is it bad that I'm browsing this for spoilers?
Shaddus2008-10-16 02:11:02
Oh, and does season two really only have 11 episodes, or am I missing something?
Shiri2008-10-16 02:12:37
I thought it had 12, but in any case it got cut short due to the merkin writers' strike.

The show says monsters a lot, because that's the title of the episode.
They often say the title of the episode often.
This season is called "heroes/villains" so yes, everyone is going to be both a hero and a villain.
I hope that Ando is really dead. (lots of people on forums are saying that Hiro stopped time, and grabbed some ketchup packets, and hid them in his shirt. But other people are saying he couldn't stop time, cause then daphnie would see him do it) I'm just pissed that they lost Adam.

I thought that was pretty funny actually. But then I never actually expected them to be able to keep hold of him. You don't live for hundreds of years without eventually learning out to outwit a couple of goofs like Hiro and Ando.

Yeah, seriously. They've been in this mess from the very beginning, now it's the 3rd season already and they're still trolling around, clueless.
Also...
How come they open the coffin and Adam simply opens his eyes like he was just pretending to take a nap? He spent centuries in a coffin with no room, no air. I mean sure, he's semi-immortal like Claire so he's alive but, for one, wouldn't he go crazy in there, and two, Claire seemed to be affected by the lack of air just one (or was it two) episodes ago.

At the end of Season Two he was shown screaming and banging at the top of it. I guess, after some time, you kinda just.. stop caring.

Well, I think he's mostly crazy anyway. And Claire's still relatively new to the whole nearly indestructible immortal thing. I think she freaked out more than anything. Obviously, he wasn't freaked out. Kind of looked like he was meditating or something. He did spend a few centuries in the orient and all. That's my guess anyway.

Well, I don't mean crazy as in skipping around in a tootoo and talking to his own shadow while smearing himself mayonnaise or whatever. You can be smart and be crazy.

It wasn't for real. Fake blood, tricky sword.
So I guess it does make sense after all, actually seems to be the first good move after all the failures.
