That would be crazy impossible to prevent. Every pet would have to be coded specially to note which emotes don't make sense for them and then that coding updated when new emotes were developed.
It would make more sense to just limit them to standard emotes (the ones that everyone has access to) and not allow the "specials" that require being in specific orgs or certain races. Which would seem more plausible... from the outside, at least.

Given that it looks like a bug and bugs should be reported... yes? It's up to the Admin if they want to do anything about it, but bugs *are* supposed to be reported.

I realize you're annoyed by pointing bugs out, and I do understand that it doesn't actually hurt anything in this case-- but it does look very odd, and I simply asked if it had been reported. Which is a completely valid question-- whether it can be fixed or not, it's something that should at least go on the list (even if they decide not to do anything about it).
So-- it doesn't hurt you or your thread to point out that there's a potential flaw in game code there that should be reported. It's not like he's going to get punished for using it.

Viscanti Geomancers have an awesome combination of emotes.
Here's hoping for some PSIONIC emotes. An emote that can be done by 6 guilds is a good idea

Psionic emotes would be good.
But Viscanti Geomancers miss out, 'cos there's no Mag emote. Although I do notice a particular barely-restrained-rage link between them.

For merians possibly a gurgle in aggravation emote, and maybe something to do with water droplets falling off when they shake their heads or something...I am not in a frame to actually design these properly so anyone else who can go for it
Unknown2008-07-30 09:04:00
isn't it the Merian emote "Gills" or something like that?

My sparrow uses a few racial emotes like PREEN and WINGFAN more than any others (except CHIRP), though. (I of course never have her do racial emotes that are inappropriate to her being a sparrow, though. Are there really pet owners who would use inappropriate ones?)

exluding the above, malach normally does hover, purr(this is actually racial I believe if you look at the feline races verse the others), and possibly others because he likes to pretend he's people (still going to hurt Ayridion for allowing him to speak)

Harbingers: DARKHEART
You begin to whisper a haunting melody as a myriad of glittering shadows begin to coalesce about your form. You slowly bring your hand to your heart and noticeits beat in time to the Drums of the Dead.

ETA:
Faelings: FLIT
You flit about happily. (no targetted emote)

Yes, in general bugs should be reported and not displayed.

Everyone can purr. The aslaran emote is PROWL (and I think it would suit Malach just fine!).
And Giallyn flits a lot too, so I'm glad I'm not being threatened with losing that one. But PREEN would be a grave loss.

Everyone can purr yes, but don't some races make a strange sound rather than the "purrs like a cat" one?
Lendren2008-07-30 14:58:12
Not that I've noticed even when I've changelinged.
