Crystalconfusion doesn't work...
Shaddus2008-09-21 04:59:43
Can someone pin this, if it isn't already?
Arin2008-09-21 20:52:34
What would be cool is skillset emotes...
for example: if illusionist:
wavehand
Arin waves his hand in the air in front of him and glittering lights appear.

So, anyone with illusions?
Skillsets get emotes now?
That's alright, whe the new ninjakari stuff comes out, Ninchu may just become my emote.
ka ninchu air
You twirl Gleipnir in the air overhead until an ominous whistling fills the air.

Wavehand is already something.

I usually use my own. Shaddus has CHINTAP and REDGLARE.
Shaddus taps his chin, deep in thought.
Shaddus glares at those around him, his eyes filling with a crimson sheen.

I have seen many people do racial/guild emotes to help flush out their character. I think I'd rather have it done by each person so that it is tailored to the character and not just a pre-set list. Sides, I don't like mantrabow for the Tahtetso ....
Dugan.
Dugan.
Saaga2008-09-22 08:25:31
Nobody likes mah mantrabow! Who the heck got it accepted if nobody likes it! -grumble-
Gwylifar2008-09-22 12:41:00
Just get rid of the balance loss from custom emotes. Using full name and allowing emote color config already take care of the "abusing it as illusions" thing adequately; the balance loss is just an artifact from forever ago.

I dunno. I always thought the name and title thing was jarring. It drew attention to the fact that different mechanics were at play. I'd rather see the title removed and the balance loss increased.
Shiri2008-09-22 14:48:41
I don't know about increasing the balance loss, but I'd prefer to lose the title than the balance loss too. Just gotta remember not to custom emote when you're following a group around and you're set. Having to inconspicuously get a bunch of gold out every time you want to custom emote sans title is about as jarring as the title anyway so there's not a lot you can do about it.
Ilyarin2008-09-22 15:26:58
Feh, custom emotes should use their own balance and just require full balance.
Xavius2008-09-22 15:43:24
I don't emote more than once every three seconds. I don't want an emote being used against me (not that I think people would actually abuse it--even Achaeans don't abuse it). I guess I never did much RP in a moving group, though, so I don't see the issue with a longer abuse-proof balance.

I would definitely prefer this too, but the thing is, with the title thing out, even with balance loss, or even with the a separate emote balance, emotes can be abused for cheap illusions. All you'd have left to protect you is the emote colour config and that's not good enough. Ugly as the title is, it's the one technique that really works. We can't get rid of it without getting rid of the idiots who'd abuse it. Thus, if we have to have it, no sense in having the other protections that don't really help anyway.

The guild voted for it in a referendum, then it was tweaked by the then-Terentia to adjust for something or other. I think that's how it was, at least.
But I agree, I don't like it. The leadership can probably get it changed, or get a new one added, for a gold cost...
Noola2008-09-22 18:11:05
What don't ya'll like about it? It looks pretty to me.

Rofl. Good joke.
prefix aesyra
suffix aesyra
config familytitle off (or whatever the syntax is)
TADA. Perfect titleless custom emote.
On that note.. maybe I should make myself a fully gagged custom emote alias like that. Configs titles off before I emote, then configs them back on. I always always hated the bloody title.
More seriously: Removing the title sounds like a good idea. Make it its own timer + require full bal / eq and it should be fine. Also, anyone who abuses it simply needs to get shrubbed. Believe it or not, but that IS a good way to prevent people from doing it.. or rather do it for long anyhow.

Just wondering... can someone give me a quick run down on how to use ^ in emotes?

I had one like that in Aetolia, where it's viable (for roleplay purposes, not illusions). I guess you haven't tried it in Lusternia.
