It is possible that they are a personality type that makes them immune the charity attacks. Try something else.

I've consistently found one or two mobs in every area that refuse to be influenced. Have you tried another?

I usually influenced finks with rumors and gnomes with begging when I was in Newton.

But even still... I don't remember anything like that happening. Maybe put a few more lessons into Influencing.

Meh, all the other finks and guards went down in 2 begging hits.

rule number one of influencing: each denizen is weak against a particular type of attack. Analyze will tell you their mindset (as it were) and you can choose what attacks to use based on that. If you don't have at least analyze, you won't do well with imfluence

This particular instance has nothing to do with that, though.

It's an influencing bug (¿qué sorpresa?).

Finks can be influenced with begging.

Plus, if you were looking close enough, you can actually see that the fink is responding with ego drain from waiting too long to influence again, plus, ego drains every time I influence.

There is only one possible reason, and that is this particular guard had been immunised to begging due to a number of other people begging and letting him rest. However, the ego loss usually increases when a mob becomes more immunised, so I'm not quite sure if this is the reason.

finks CAN be begged from, but that influence attack is not what they are weak against

It's true, but they are weak enough that a couple of begging will win them over.
