so I keep hearing about adding a shield rune to a bookbinding tome and it's got me interested in it. I'd just like to know if anyone knows if this is possible or not.

Shield runes should only be able to be attached to mage staves, druid cudgels, wiccan athames, guardian symbols, and bard instruments. If you know of instances where they have been attached to items other than those listed then you need to BUG it.

Can ANY Rune be added to a bookbinding tome?

woot! Could you answer this one too? as far as I knew only the Magi crown could be made permanent, but I wanted to know if there was a way to make the tome permanent otherwise I wouldn't wanna get it...

I'd really like to know the answer to this question too, as I might consider getting a rune in the future but would be sad if it didn't work on the tome... (though isn't there also a 50 credit customization option to make objects permanent?)

You'd want to spend the 100 credits to make it resetting rather than just the 50 to make it permanent.

I know magi crowns can get runes attached to them, not sure about tomes, but if a magi crown can, I don't see why a tome cant, and should be able to add on to a fascinate gem too then.

Shield runes can not be attached to magi crowns. Magi crowns are jewelry, so jewelry runes can be attached to them.

I still wish Bookbinding would let us make UO style runebooks. Even if we were just to teleport to each rune.

And then we could sell the runebooks, UO style!

And I could also re-create my Book of Runes to Instant Death Spots Labeled with Things Like "Easy Gold Farming" to Give to Annoying People runebook.

Nah, the trick was to sell full city runebooks, and occasionally give a one charge runebook to an annoying newbie. The good part was that each of those carefully labelled runes really lead to the bottom of Hythloth.

And let's not forget the #1 Rule of UO Rune Sociology: If you create a gate in a public area, someone will jump through it.

I remember when Crazy Joe used to create gates to inescapable locations, then charge people who went through to get them out. He called it "fishing."

after issuing myself about this question and then trying to ask about it by email where I was referred to I got this response. The part I dislike is how I replied saying a magi crown is transcendant as well as the golden seal on furniture when combined with other runes or a stasis gem and both can be made permanent for 50 or 100 credits minimum with added effects. Of course I got no reply at all to this.

Are you serious?? =( Major bummer, I was planning to get a rune for my tome in a few days too. It's nearly decayed now. Meh, I guess splendor robes can't be made permanent either then?

Can't you just make a new one? (admittedly, I don't know much about the Tome... my girl's a bookbinder, but she's no where near Trans)
