We're keeping an eye on the progress of things and making adjustments here and there. However, part of the problem (at least as I see it) is that with the initial excitement about the new area and honours quests (there are 8 total) the area is seeing a huge amount of traffic and so keeping mobs alive is understandably difficult. With that in mind, we're not going to make any sweeping changes at first, to avoid the knee-jerk reactionary approach which is ultimately more harmful than it is helpful.

I'll also drop a tantalizing hint for our questers: this area has re-introduced the concept of "notable honours" lines, which used to exist in Glomdoring and Serenwilde before we disabled the Hart and Crow quests. In layman's terms what this means is that if you can complete all the honours quests in a particular cycle (kephera or illithoid, and there are 4 on each side) you can gain a special honours line that has a few minor RP perks.

Great! That's awesome. biggrin.gif

One day, I'll have the Illithoid one. goodjob.gif

That sounds really cool!

Curses to my brain's inability to solve riddles and quests which means I'll prolly never get the super cool minor RP perks. losewings.gif

But the idea that you can get nifty minor RP perks from solving quests is cool! So cheers to nifty super quests with super cool RP advantages! cheer.gif

If I hadn't been there, Thoros and Yuniko probably couldn't have done it with Kalos demesne beating on them. tongue.gif

EDIT: Actually...I am not sure. In any case, the guards and the queen even hurt me.

If you say that they did a fair amount of damage, then I believe you. I was contemplating more the swiftness with which she was slain - defenders teleporting in would have a narrow time window to work within. As Morgfyre said, though, it's early days. smile.gif

That said, I'm very partial to what I've seen of the various Undervault quests. I could've happily spent a few hours down there attempting to help the convoy leaders feed (or, due to my error, poison) the Kephera.

Apart from a quick "Admins, I love you" on the other thread I haven't properly conveyed my appreciation for such a great area. Just mapping it alone was a superb experience cloud9.gif but I look forward to much more detailed exploring and questing in the future. To have such a massive new area like this, and on Prime too is amazing and in my opinion exactly what Lusternia needed. Add to that the two new races and it really is an amazing addition.

I thought Lusternia had been doing quite well with all the other areas and new things added in the last 12 months, but to think you had all been working on this as well... where's the clapping emote??

aha...

Thank you!

P.S. I think it should be left like it is for a while until things quiet down, personally I didn't find the beasties too tough, apart from in crowds.

Dang, all of the interesting stuff happens when I don't have a good internet connection. Oh well...
Daganev2007-05-14 21:11:54
I would like to suggest a discussion about a lack of avenger applying to the under vault. Since the quests partly seem to revolve around releasing or sealing of a soulless. tongue.gif
Ashteru2007-05-14 21:13:10
If you are killing Kephera. 7/8 of all the areas are enemy territory anyway. sad.gif

We are not going to disable Avenger for the Undervault or any other area on the Prime Material Plane, so that is out of the question and there's no point in starting a discussion about it. However, the Hives and Prison are territories belonging to their respective organizations, so enemies of those groups can be freely attacked/killed there. This is the case with most "org" territory.

Do you really keep an eye on things? Did you notice that there are eight ways to totally botch the kephera quest while there are... zero to stop the illithoids? Did you notice that it is still damn easy to kill queens?

The last two days I basically did the same thing: Try to raise a queen so I could try the quest. Thing is, each time I log out for a bit and then come back later I find the queens dead.

I like challenges and I don't mind difficult quests, but sorry this is :censor:. If the kephera can be botched that easily, at least have the priests of the illithoids work the same ways. Eight priests and they have to spend 1+ hour on a quest to raise a single one again. To my knowledge, they all reset in the prison.

All I'm asking for is for Seren and Mag to be able to start on even grounds for this quest. Because right now Mag has a huge huge advantage.

When Morgfyre says that he's been keeping an eye on things, I can assure you he does mean that. And when he says he'll make adjustments as necessary, he does also mean that. Adjustments will be made where deemed necessary, and have likely already been made. I don't think that post needed to be quite so venomous.

Queens are rather nasty now.

I think 'frustrated' fits it rather. If you want to work on the quest and all you can do for hours on end is reraise always the -same- few queens.. trust me you'd feel the same.

I was thinking.. perhaps there could be something like with the supernals / demon lords, that for x minutes / hours after a queen is raised she cannot be killed? That would give people a -chance- at least to start with the actual quest behind it.
Daganev2007-05-14 23:04:20
Are these quests in the "enemy" territory areas, so you can set demense and the like to protect the queens?

There's eight hives, eight queens. Good luck trying to split your forces that much and still be effect -and- still push the quest onwards.
Unknown2007-05-14 23:08:24
Eight new honors quests? I don't even have one done... I either don't have the time or I'm just too dumb to figure them out. I never, ever figure out what to say or anything, and that's what killed me doing Delport's honours quest... sad.gif Almost done with Shepherd of the Rocks and Tosha, though! Go me! freaked.gif

Oh well, I'm a little loathe to go down to the Undervault anyway with the damage I take from a fisher. If it's just cutting/blunt, then I really need a group when I go because 50/50ish robes (plus psiarmour) doesn't help as much as plate will.

All it takes is a few druids with demesnewatch and/or spores to each queen. If you see a death to a guard or the queen (who hit Daev for 3k damage), snort spores, defend.
Furien2007-05-14 23:49:36
She did thwart the illithoid, freeing the kephera hives from their grasp.

One down, three to go. biggrin.gif

That one took thirteen-ish hours, too. I don't think I'm leaving this desk for awhile.
