I thought natural armor didn't stack directly with armor like that, oh well though.
Acrune2007-05-14 14:53:01
A keph without robes is a stupid keph. wink.gif I almost want to try the race to have the resistances + splendor. Too bad I'm not female, would make the race suck a lot less.

Like I said before, my post was completely guess and rumor. You could be right.

Don't know if it stacks directly, but it -does- stack in some way.

Yes but I just wanted to point it out as some people seem of the opinion that kephs are too tanky. Take the robes away and you have a broken raise that can be killed in a few hits with wounding. I mean.. currently, which idiot goes to fight a warrior without armour, helm and shield (and parry / stance)? It'd be plain stupid.

EDIT: PS: I think there are very few people currently that kill with cutting / blunt damage in pvp. Most non-warrior archtypes do a different type of damage, most warriors kill with wounding.. those that can with damage too (like Lisarel) will likely do a shitload still.

Even though I know it won't happen, I'm still waiting for Shayle to become Kephera and make her guild do the same thing tongue.gif

Lis does so much 'cause of the wounding runes that change the damagetype. tongue.gif A reason why I can't tank her good.

And make all females buy the 'dagger' of sex change?

no.

Yeah, a keph without robes is going to go under VERY quickly against a wounding warrior. Possibly against elemental damage too.. (no proofs after all).

EDIT: Behead and such would be a big problem too. No helm after all.

get Shieldparry and parry head 100

that doesn't change that they would get beheaded. it's not a guarantee. there are maneveurs that go through parry/stance also the head is not the only instant kill.
Unknown2007-05-14 23:12:29
Screw maneuvers, without proofings, you're going to be susceptible to mage/wiccan damage kills (especially males who have craptacular numbers in the INT/CHA departments) like Toadcurse, MindBurst, Heartburst (maybe, but not likely, since mage combatants go Telepathy instead of TK), Preserve, Chasm, etc., etc.

It's only really power skills that plop through stance and parry. But if you get hit elsewhere and you're paralysed.. or if you're knocked prone, your head will be available for hurting again.

Don't robes have hoods? unsure.gif
Clise2007-05-14 23:24:11
Cutting/Blunt resist along with whatever protection robes offer means they take less damage. Proofs from robes also means less elemental and magical damage. With less damage, it means they can apply. Robes also provide wound protection. They are not all that bad off.

Hm. You could improve the hive thing by extending the number of adjacent areas the effect works as the queen gets higher in level. So a level 60 queen could have 1 adjacent area affected, a level 70 has 2, etc. Big drawback would be coding...

I think the buffs gained by being in the hive, while in the same area will be enough to encourage groups of hunters to form hives, but thats just me.

My only experience thus far as a Kephera Bard (Female) has been pretty good. Albeit my only fights have been with me having no power whatsoever, wearing robes with the damage resistance is pretty good. My stats are generally almost the same as Human (Minus Dexterity, of which I've got 11.), some much better. Mindsense is awesome to use 'cause it's so creepy looking.

If I use my regular defenses:

Strength : 11 Dexterity : 11 Constitution: 15
Intelligence: 16 Charisma : 15 Size : 13

With: Limber +2 DEX, Yellow/Con Platter +2 CON, Bardicpresence +2 CHA, Knowledge Blessing +2 INT.

Don't even get me started now that I've got two TF's and the possiblity of Skull/Dolphin and a Crocodile sphere. happy.gif

Hives are really just for fun, but the current bonus is negligible if you're going to be spanning multiple areas. If I'm going to take on people to make it COUNT, I'll probably have five people tagging along with me, or just sitting around in the general area to give me a boost. If they're following me..g'bye, experience.

While I miss the 1-second fetish attack speed as Mugwump, I couldn't kill anything without going into red health. So far, I'm really just a beefy human minus evolution and experience boost. tongue.gif

I'm sorta in agreement with an earlier comment (forget who made it) about hives. It's a nifty skill, and probably is quite fun to play with, but most of the other racial skills are really just for flavor and not worth a whole lot skill-wise, so the requests for boosting hives would make the skill seem a good deal less about flavor than the others.

Then again, Illdrain is quite important and useful for illithoids, so maybe the new races are supposed to have more meaningful race skills.
Unknown2007-05-15 07:39:30
I think the Illithoids were designed to incorporate Illdrain as a vital part of the stat balance, judging from the extremely low charisma. It's possible that the Kephera were designed to require the Hives, but the health/mana/ego boost doesn't really make up for the lack of str/int in the same way that Illdrain does for the charisma.
Callia2007-05-15 16:07:19
It is also very very very very easy to break a Hive... it really should be plane wide... or have a bigger boost.
